Taxonomic Review of Genus Stenodynerus Saussure (Eumeninae, Vespidae, Hymenoptera) with Description of a New Species in Korea

  • Ten Korean eumenine wasp species of the genus Stenodynerus, including one new species and six newly recorded species (Stenodynerus chinensis simillimus, S. coreanus, S. clypeopictus, S. funebris, S. frauenfeldi, S. Kalinowskii, S. pappi, S. pullus, S. tergitus sp. nov., S. tokyanus) from Korea were taxonomically reviewed. The male of S. pappi was collected for the first time. Additional characters to distinguish several congeners were also discussed.

  • Six Korean species of the tribe Campsomerini are taxonomically reviewed: Campsomeriella annulata, Megacampsomeris grossa matsumurai, M. prismatica, M. uchidai, M. schulthessi, M. stoetzneri. Of these, M. grossa matsumurai and M. stoetzneri are new to Korea. A key to Korean genera and species, diagnostic characteristics and digital images are also provided.

  • Two species of the genus Parthenocodrus Pschorn-Walcher, 1958 (Hymenoptera: Proctotrupidae) are reported: P. elongatus from Japan and South Korea and P. puncticauda from South Korea. Parthenocodrus elongatus is easily distinguished by having posterior surface of propodeum without transverse carinae and ovipositor sheath with distinct longitudinal striations. Parthenocodrus puncticauda is easily distinguished by having posterior surface of propodeum with transverse carinae and ovipositor sheath without distinct longitudinal striations. This genus is also newly recorded in each country. Redescriptions and photographs of the diagnostic characters are provided. All specimens for this study are deposited in the Yeungnam University (YNU), Gyeongsan-si, South Korea.

  • The species of Aphelopus Dalman (Hymenoptera: Dryinidae) from South Korea are reviewed. Sixteen species are listed, of which fifteen are new records from South Korea: Aphelopus atratus (Dalman, 1823); Aphelopus bennetti Olmi, 2004; Aphelopus camus Richards, 1939; Aphelopus luteoceps Xu & He, 1999; Aphelopus maetoi Olmi, 1995; Aphelopus malayanus Olmi, 1984; Aphelopus melaleucus (Dalman, 1818); Aphelopus nepalensis Olmi, 1984; Aphelopus nigriceps Kieffer, 1905; Aphelopus prolatus Mita & Olmi, 2014; Aphelopus querceus Olmi, 1984; Aphelopus serratus Richards, 1939; Aphelopus spadiceus Xu & He, 1997; Aphelopus urbaini Olmi, 2003; Aphelopus zhaoi Xu, He & Olmi, 1998. Keys to South Korean species of Aphelopus are also provided.

  • Three newly recorded species of the genus Anteon Jurine (Hymenoptera: Dryinidae: Anteoninae), A. brachycerum (Dalman, 1823), A. confusum Olmi, 1991 and A. infectum (Haliday, 1837), are reported from South Korea. A revised identification key to the South Korean species, diagnosis, illustrations and photographs of the diagnostic characteristics are provided herein.

  • Taxonomic notes on the genus Elaphropoda Lieftinck, 1966 (Hymenoptera: Apidae) from Vietnam are presented. Two species of the genus are reported: Elaphropoda percarinata (Cockerell, 1930) was first recorded from Vietnam based on specimens collected from Ha Tinh province in 1998, and is reconfirmed with a specimens collected from Bac Kan province in the Northeastern part of the country in this study, and Elaphropoda khasiana (Schulz, 1906) is recorded from Vietnam for the first time. Redescriptions of the male of E. percarinata and the female of E. khasiana are given with illustrations.

Five New Records of the Subfamily Campopleginae (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) from South Korea

  • The subfamily Campopleginae $F{\ddot{o}rster$ is the third largest group of Ichneumonidae, comprising more than 2,130 species worldwide. At present 55 species within 13 genera have been reported from South Korea so far. Five species, Campoplex tosensis (Uchida, 1932), Diadegma majale (Gravenhorst, 1829), Dusona myrtilla (Desvignes, 1856), Hyposoter didymator (Thunberg, 1822), and Scirtetes robustus (Woldstedt, 1877), of the subfamily Campopleginae (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) are recognized for the first time from South Korea. In addition, the genus Scirtetes is reported for the first time from South Korea. Diagnostic illustrations and diagnoses of the five newly recorded species are provided.
