The purpose of this study is to develop new process named "hydrogen peroxide dissolution method". This process used hydrogen peroxide, which is harmless to human body and oxidize molybdenum wire selectively. The advantages of hydrogen peroxide dissolution method were no discharge of noxious matter when dissolution of molybdenum wire which used as the center supporter, reactions occur in room temperature and easy to recover dissolved molybdenum. This study was aimed at gathering the basic data of molybdenum wire dissolution-recovery process and proposes the reaction condition of molybdenum wire dissolution-recovery process and the factors influencing those reactions. The results were as follows:1. In the dissolution of molybdenum wire, the early condition of reaction was $15^{\circ}C$, and the temperature condition of state was $32^{\circ}C$. 2. 1) In the GSL-60W type, P.W.(Piece weight) was 11.89mg, C.R. was $65.6\Omega$. 2) In the FL-20W type, P.W. was 11.60mg, C.R. was $4.6\Omega$. 3. The molybdenum of process water was treated of a precipitation after dry and after stagnation in the one day, the molybdenum of upper water was treated of precipitation after dry and after congelation.

This study was carried out to remove (/recover) the uranium from the Uranium-bearing Lime Precipitate (ULP). An oxidative dissolution of ULP with carbonate-acidified precipitation and a dissolution of ULP with nitric acid-hydrogen peroxide precipitation were discussed, respectively. In point of view the dissolution of uranium in ULP, nitric acid dissolution which could dissolved more than 98% of uranium was more effective than carbonate dissolution. However, in this case, uranium was dissolved together with a large amount of impurities such as Al, Ca, Fe, Mg, Si, etc. and some impurities were also co-precipitated with uranium during a hydrogen peroxide precipitation. On the other hand, in the case of carbonate dissolution-acidified precipitation, U was dissolved less than 90%. Therefore, it was less effective than nitric acid dissolution for the volume reduction of radioactive solid waste. However, it was very effective to recover the pure uranium, because impurities were hardly dissolved and hardly co-precipitated with uranium.
In order to recover pure alumina from balck dross, precipiatation experiments were done to the NaOH leaching solution of mechanically activated black dross. In this work, hydrogen peroxide was added to the synthic solution as a precipitating agent. Among some variables, the concentration of $H_2O_2$ and the volume ratio of $H_2O_2$ to solution showed a remarkable effect on the precipitation of aluminum hydroxide. At the optimum conditions, most of the aluminate was precipitated. Calcination of the aluminum hydroxide at $1200^{\circ}C$ led to the formation of ${\theta}$ and ${\alpha}$-alumina. The charactistics of the synthesized activated alumina was measured by XRD and EDS. The average particles size of the alumina was $3.73{\mu}m$.
Recovery of silver in the spent solution generated from MEO(Mediated Electrochemical Oxidation) process, which is a process to decompose radioactive organic mixed wastes at low temperature, was performed using chemical method. Silver nitrate in 5M nitric acid solution could be completely recovered as AgCl by using 1% excess of the stoichiometric HCl equivalents. Then, AgCl was transformed to Ag metal by reduction reaction with hydrogen peroxide under alkaline media. The optimum pH for the reduction to silver metal was found to be in the range of 12.8∼13.0.
In the treatment of Cu - and CN - contained wastewater by using Fenton oxidation-flocculation-precipitation, the optimal removal efficiencies of the cyanide and copper were investigated according to pH, reaction time, the molar ratio of cyanide and hydrogen peroxide and the mass ratio of ferrous sulfate and hydrogen peroxide for Fenton oxidation, and pH for hydroxide precipitation, respectively. As a result, the $CN^-$ removal efficiency in our experimental wastewater by the Fenton oxidation was 81.2%~99% at its optimal conditions of pH ranging from 3 to 5 and reaction time of 30 minutes. And the optimal dosage of hydrogen peroxide and ferrous sulfate was 214, $428mg/{\ell}$, 107, $161mg/{\ell}$, 214, $214mg/{\ell}$ and 520, $500mg/{\ell}$, respectively when the molar ratio of $Cu^{2+}$:CN is 2:1, 1:1, 1:2, 1:10, and was 900, $1050mg/{\ell}$ when the molar ratio of $Cu^+$: CN is 1:10. When the copper was precipitated by sodium hydroxide after Fenton oxidation, the copper removal efficiency in the wastewater at pH 7 was 98.92%, 98.52%, 92.46%, 90.6% and 95%, respectively.
Uranyl-peroxide compound was prepared by the reaction of excess hydrogen peroxide solution and trace uranium in filtrate from nuclear fuel conversion plant. The $CO_3{^{2-}}$ in filtrate was removed first by heating more than $98^{\circ}C$, because uranyl-peroxide compound could not be precipitated by $CO_3{^{2-}}$ remaining in filtrate. The optimum condition for uranyl-peroxide compound was ageing for 1 hr after controling the pH with $NH_3$ gas and adding the excess $H_2O_2$ of 10ml/lit.-filtrate. Uranium concentration in the filtrate was appeared to 3 ppm after the precipitation of uranyl-peroxide compound, and the chemical composition of this compound was analyzed to $UO_4{\cdot}2NH_4F$ with FT-IR, X-ray diffractometry, TG and chemical analysis. Also, this fine particle, about $1{\sim}2{\mu}m$, could be grown up to $4{\mu}m$ at pH 9.5 and $60^{\circ}C$. The separation efficiency of precipitate from mother liquor was increased with increase of pH and reaction temperature. Otherwise, the crystal form of this particle showed octahedral by SEM and XRD, and $U_3O_8$ powder was obtained by thermal decomposition at $650^{\circ}C$ in air atmosphere.

This study aimed to develop an efficient recycling process for wastewater generated from soil-washing used to remediate uranium (U(VI))-contaminated soil. Under acidic conditions, U(VI) ions leached from the soil were precipitated and separated through neutralization using hydrazine (N2H4). N2H4, employed as a pH adjuster, was decomposed into nitrogen gas (N2), water (H2O), and hydrogen ions (H+) by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The residual N2H4 was precipitated when the pH was adjusted using sulfuric acid (H2SO4) to recycle the wastewater in the soil-washing process. This purified wastewater was reused in the soil-washing process for a total of ten cycles. The results confirmed that the soil-washing performance for U(VI)-contaminated soil was maintained when using recycled wastewater. All in all, this study proposes an efficient recycling process for wastewater generated during the remediation of U(VI)-contaminated soil.
Lactobacillus acidophilus 223, 606, and NCFM-F among 21 isolated from fecal contents of humans demonstrated inhibitory activity attributed to bacteriocin(s). The bacteriocin(s) were heat stable and nondialyzable proteinous compounds and exhibited narrow inhibitory spectra of activity. Neither hydrogen peroxide nor pH were responsible for inhibitory action. All of the producer strains were resistant to their own bacteriocin(s). The bacteriocin(s) were purified by ammonium sulfate precipitation, gel chromatography and ion exchange chromatography for further characterization. The bacteriocin(s) of human origin exhibited similar characteristics.
The purpose of this study was to analyze experiments for the rules of material change unit in 9th grade science textbooks and develop experiments applying small-scale chemistry (SSC). For this study, experimental methods for the precipitation experiment, water electrolysis experiment, decomposition of hydrogen peroxide experiment presented in the 9 science textbooks were analyzed. Problems and improvements that were needed were extracted by 13 science teachers performing the experiments. Experiments applying SSC were developed based on the improvements needed. Afterwards, 19 pre-service science teachers performed both the developed SSC experiments and the science textbooks' experiments. A questionnaire about merits and demerits of the experiments applying SSC was performed. According to the results of this study, most of the 9th grade science textbooks included the lead iodide precipitation experiment, water electrolysis experiment by Hoffman voltameter, and decomposition of hydrogen peroxide experiment using catalytic manganese dioxide. Improvements were needed on the quantity of reagents, time for performing experiments, and scale of experimental apparatus. Merits of the developed experiments applying SSC which used small amount of reagents were safety, easy waste material disposal, short reaction time, and reproducible experimental results. Demerits of the experiments applying SSC were difficulty in observing, decreased achievement, and lack of skill in handling small-scale apparatus. Therefore, if the experiments developed applying SSC were to be utilized in 9th grade science experiments, it will be possible to use less reagent and be able to teach and carry out reproducible experiments at the same time. Also, the reproducible experiments based on SSC will help students under stand the scientific concepts for the rules of material change unit.
Superoxide dismutase (SOD) was purified to homogeneity from fruiting bodies of edible mushroom, Lentinus edodes, by ammonium sulfate precipitation, diethylaminoethyl (DEAE)-Sepharose FF ion-exchange chromatography, Sephacryl S-200 gel filtration chromatography, and preparative PAGE. The molecular weight of the purified enzyme was estimated to be approximately 54 kDa by gel filtration chromatography, and the enzyme was shown to be consisted of two identical subunits of molecular weight 27 kDa by SDS-PAGE. The isoelectric point of the enzyme was 4.9 as determined by isoelectric focusing. The enzyme had optimal pH and temperature of pH 8.0 and $20^{\circ}C$, respectively. The activity of the enzyme was inhibited by hydrogen peroxide, but inhibited less by cyanide and azide. The native enzyme was found to contain 0.89g-atom of iron, 0.75g-atom of zinc, and 0.46g-atom of copper per mol of enzyme. Analysis of amino acids composition revealed that the SOD from L. edodes contained a relatively large amount of glutamic acid/glutamine, proline, cysteine, isoleucine, and leucine, but only a small amount of aspartic acid/asparagine, tyrosine, and tryptophan when compared to the other iron-containing SODs.
