쳔연가스 연료조성이 엔진 연소특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Natural Gas Composition on Combustion Characteristics in a Gas Engine)

  • Natural gas is an attractive fuel in view of environment benefits due to its flow carbon-to-hydrogen ratio. However, its compositions and properties are varied depending upon production regional groups. Therefore, study on the combustion characteristics of natural gas engines with a variety of compositions has been demanded for the efficient application of gas engines. This study aims to investigate the effects of gas composition on engine combustion characteristics. It was found that , by controlling an engine with fixed fuel nozzle area, power and heat release were subject to Wobbe Index. And at fixed excess air ratios, power and heat release were subject to low heating value of unit mixture . In addition, in case of constant nozzle area, combustion duration was found to be inversely proportional to CP(Combustion Potential), and the condition of fixed excess air ratios showed no change in combustion duration, regardless of CP.

  • A survey is carried out for the future energy sources to be used for ship's propulsion and ship's machinery and operations. 44 global experts from Korea, America, Norway, Denmark, Japan and German who are currently working in the shipyard and offshore fields participated at the survey. Quantitative predications on the market shares of various energy sources, such as oil, LNG, fuel cell, wind energy, solar energy and nuclear energy are made. MPI (market prediction index) is considered as a quantitative index for easy comparison between future's energy sources used for ship's propulsion and operations. It is expected that the MPI of LNG becomes twofold in 2020 against 'before 2016'. It could be also said that hydrogen based fuel cell is expected to increase rapidly for the coming years unless a new alternative energy appears.

SBR, 폴리우레탄 및 에폭시 라텍스를 혼합한 폴리초산비닐 에멀젼 수지의 점성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Viscous Properties of Polyvinyl Acetate Emulsion Mixed with SBR, Polyurethane and Epoxy Latex)

  • SBR latex, polyurethane latex and epoxy latex were mixed with polyvinyl acetate emulsion in 0~15% (wt.%). For the mixtures, the viscous properties were examined. The viscosity was influenced by the dispersed phase and the chain structures of polymer, and decreased with the rising of temperatures. The viscosity was increased with mixing of epoxy latex, but decreased with addition of SBR latex or polyurethane latex. Thixotropic index was influenced on the size of micelle and hydrogen bond. The thixotropic index was increased with mixing of epoxy latex or polyurethane latex within 5%, but keep up equality over that. The thixotropic index was decreased with mixing of SBR latex within 5%, but keep up equality over that. The relative viscosity were influenced on the activity of molecule and the interference of dispersed phases, was increased with the rising of temperatures. The relative viscosity was decreased with mixing of epoxy latex, but increased with mixing of SBR latex or polyurethane latex.

교류 피복 아크 용접에 있어서 아크 안정성의 정량적 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Quantitative Evaluation of Arc Stability in AC SMAW)

  • The shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) by AC power source was performed to evaluate the arc stability by arc monitoring and analysing. In this study, the arc stability index was evaluated quantitatively by using he coefficient of resistance variation for welding time. This coefficient was obtained for the long time (20sec.) by analysing the waveforms of welding current, voltage and resistance. The coefficient was applied to indicate numerically the variation level of arc length and the degree of arc extinction. Using the coefficient of resistance variation in practical welding, the arc stability of the high titanium oxide electrode (KS E4313) turned out to be better than that of the low hydrogen electrode (KS E4316). In evaluating the skill level of welders by the coefficient, the horizontal fillet weaving welding became clear to be very discriminating because the higher level welder could weave in keeping constant arc length, but the lower level welder showed the characteristics of weaving with the unstable arc length. And it was confirmed that the welding defects as blow holes was formed when the arc stability index were high.

The Effect of Hydrogen Peroxide Bleaching on the Properties of Unbleached Hardwood Kraft Pulp Adsorbed with Birchwood Xylan

  • Xylans are polysaccharides present in large amounts in cell walls of land plants. However, during kraft cooking, a high portion of hemicelluloses including xylans are dissolved in the cooking liquor. In the current trend for a more effective utilization of biomass, attention has been paid to the exploitation of xylans as strength-enhancing additives for paper. It is believed that surface xylan adds flexibility to the cell wall/fiber surface, resulting in stronger fiber-fiber joints or greater contact area between the fibers. Accordingly, there is proposal for a new pulping process involving the extraction of xylan prior to pulping, followed by their re-adsorption on the unbleached pulp. A suitable bleaching process should be employed then, which ought to does not only improve the brightness of the pulp, but also remain the effect of the adsorption of xylan on pulp fibers. The objective of this research was to investigate the impact of hydrogen peroxide bleaching on the properties of unbleached hardwood kraft pulp pretreated with birchwood xylan by measuring optical properties (brightness, post color number, opacity) as well as physical properties (tensile index, tearing index, bulk) of handsheets made from the bleached pulp. In the meantime, the influence of process variables of peroxide bleaching including bleaching temperature, time, initial pH and $MgSO_4$ dosage were studied.

독일 남부지역에서 시추한 상부쥐라기 코어 시료의 유기물 특성 연구 (Characterization of Organic Matter in Upper Jurassic Core Samples Drilled in Southern Germany)

  • 남부독일의 상부쥐라기 석회암 내에 들어 있는 유기물의 특성을 연구하기 위하여 바이에른 중부지역에서 시추한 코어 시료를 분석하였다. 코어(북위 48$^{\circ}$53', 동위 11$^{\circ}$19')는 가이젠탈층의 상부에서 졸른호펜층의 전체를 걸쳐 뫼른스하임층의 상부까지 중생대 상부쥐라기의 석회암으로 구성되어 있다. 코어에서 상부쥐라기 암질은 판상석회암, 층상석회암 및 괴상석회암으로 이루어져 있으며, 일부 쳐어트층이 협재되어 나타나기도 한다. 지화학 변화(탄소, 질소, 총유기탄소)와 Rock-Eval 열분해 데이터(S$_2$피크와 수소지수)는 상부쥐라기 석회암이 대부분 해양성 기원임을 지시한다. 특히, 수소지수와 총유기탄소 그리고 S$_2$ 상호 상관관계는 층에 따라 비례 또는 반비례의 관계를 보여주고 있다. 이는 코어의 하부층(가이젠탈층과 졸른호펜층)에 비하여 코어의 상부층인 뫼른스하임층이 육원성 퇴적물의 유입에 영향을 좀 더 많이 받았음을 의미한다.

  • 한국 대륙붕 블럭 VI의 돌고래-1공에서 채취한 근원암의 화학성분 및 특성에 관해 조사하였다. 유징분석기를 사용하여 가스, 기름 및 총추출유기물의 양을 구했으며 총추출 유기물의 양은 0.59 %이었다. 비투멘의 양과 분자량은 용매추출법과 겔투과 크로마토그래피에 의해 구했으며, X-선회절법, 적외선분광법 및 열무게 측정법으로 물리화학적 성질을 고찰하였다. 분석 결과로부터 돌고래-1공의 시료는 미미한 석유근원암으로 평가되었다.

Effect of the Inhibition of Phospholipase $A_2$ in Generation of Free Radicals in Intestinal Ischemia/Reperfusion Induced Acute Lung Injury

  • The role of phospholipase $A_2\;(PLA_2)$ in acute lung leak induced by intestinal ischemia was investigated in association with neutrophilic respiratory burst. To induce lung leak, we generated intestinal ischemia for 60 min prior to the 120 min reperfusion by clamping superior mesenteric artery in Sprague-Dawley rats. Acute lung leak was confirmed by the increased lung leak index and protein content in bronchoalveolar fluid. These changes were inhibited by mepacrine, the non-specific $PLA_2$ inhibitor. The lung myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity denoting the pulmonary recruitment of neutrophils was increased by intestinal I/R, but decreased by mepacrine. Simultaneously, the number of leukocytes in bronchoalveolar fluid was increased by intestinal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) and decreased by mepacrine. Gamma glutamyl transferase activity, an index of oxidative stress in the lung, was increased after intestinal I/R but decreased by mepacrine, which implicates that $PLA_2$ increases oxidative stress caused by intestinal I/R. The $PLA_2$ activity was increased after intestinal I/R not only in the intestine but also in the lung. These changes were diminished by mepacrine. In the cytochemical electron microscopy to detect hydrogen peroxide, intestinal I/R increased the generation of the hydrogen peroxide in the lung as well as in the intestine. Expression of interleukin-1 (IL-1) in the lung was investigated through RT-PCR. The expression of IL-1 after intestinal I/R was enhanced, and again, the inhibition of $PLA_2$ suppressed the expression of IL-1 in the lung. Taken together, intestinal I/R seems to induce acute lung leak through the activation of $PLA_2$, the increase of IL-1 expression associated with increased oxidative stress by neutrophilic respiratory burst.

플라즈마 화학기상증착법을 이용한 비정질 규소 및 질화규소의 저온성막 연구 (Low-Temperature Processing of Amorphous Silicon and Silicon-Nitride Films Using PECVD Method)

  • [ $150^{\circ}C$ ]의 저온에서 플라즈마 화학기상증착 (PECVD) 방법으로 비정질 규소 및 질화규소 박막을 성막 하였다. 비정질 질화규소 박막은 소스 가스의 수소 분율을 증가시킴에 따라 굴절률이 1.9에 접근하고 질소-수소 결합이 주도적이 되어 고온성막한 박막에 버금가는 특성을 보였다. 비정질 규소 박막은 소스 가스의 수소 분율을 높임에 따라 굴절률과 광학적 금지대역의 크기가 고온 성막된 박막의 값인 4.2와 1.8 eV에 근접한 값을 가지게 되었으며, $[Si-H]/([Si-H]+[Si-H_2])$의 값이 증가하여 양질의 박막특성을 얻을 수 있었다. RF 전력 및 증착 압력에 대해서 낮은 전력과 작은 압력에서 양질의 박막을 얻을 수 있었으며, 박막 특성은 RF 전력 보다는 증착 압력의 변화에 대해서 좀더 큰 의존성을 보였다. 박막트랜지스터 제작에 적용 가능한 양질의 비정질 규소 및 질화규소 박막을 저온에서 얻기 위해서는 소스 가스의 수소 분율을 높게 하는 것이 중요한 공통 인자로 파악되었다.

광양제철소 소둔로 가스설비에 대한 위험성 평가 및 안전성향상안 제시 (Risk Assessment and Its Application for the POSCO's Batch Annealing Furnace Gas Systems)

  • 광양제철소의 소둔로 설비를 대상으로 정성적 및 정량적 위험성을 평가하였다. 소둔로는 냉연 강판 제조시 품질 향상을 위한 열처리 목적으로 이용되는 제철 설비중 하나로 Coke Oven Gas(COG)가 연료로 사용되고, 수소와 질소의 혼합가스 또는 순수한 수소가 분위기 가스로 사용된다. 위험성 평가를 통하여, 소둔로의 가연성 가스 누출 시나리오와 빈도를 분석하였으며, 가연성 가스 누출 사고시 화재 또는 폭발의 피해 영향을 분석하였다. 이들 분석 결과와 함께 여러 다른 지수(Index)를 제시하여 소둔로 가스 설비의 안전성 향상 방안을 도출하였다.
