연료전지용 개질기 소형화 기술 (Technology of Small Scale Hydrogen Generator for Fuel Cell Systems)

  • 가정용 연료전지의 개발은 소형 개질기에 대한 개발을 요구하고 있을 뿐만 아니라 수소자동차 보급에 대한 전망은 현지 설치가 가능한 소형 수소 제조장치의 개발을 필요로 하고 있다. 개질기의 공통적인 연구개발 방향은 시스템의 고효율화와 빠른 기동성과 내구성, 안정성 그리고 경제성을 확보하는 것이라고 할 수 있다. 최근의 개질기 연구동향을 살펴보면 개질효율 향상을 위하여 개질촉매가 새롭게 연구되고 있으며, 특히 가정용 연료전지 시스템의 적용에 적합하도록 통합형 개질기 시스템 구성을 통한 개질기의 소형화와 고효율화에 연구의 초점이 맞추어져 있다. 이 외에도 탈황제와 일산화탄소 제거를 위한 촉매 개발에 대한 연구가 이루어지고 있으며, 1시간 이상 소요되는 기동시간을 단축시키기 위한 시스템 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 본 고에서는 개질기 관련기술에 대한 전반적인 고찰과 그리고 최근의 개발동향을 분석해 보고 본 연구원에서 개발된 소형 수소제조장치의 특징에 대하여 소개하고자 한다.

  • The corrosion on steam generator tubes of the secondary side of pressurized water reactor inhibits heat transfer. One of the most efficient techniques improving the heat transfer performance of a nuclear electric generation is a corrosion control. The environmental parameters mostly affecting corrosion are materials and chemical additives. It seems that no further corrosion occurs in steels with Polyacrylic acid polymer dispersant treatment. Polyacrylic acid forms a protective coating with uniform thickness on metal surface. Polyacrylic treatment appears to be the most convenient way to enhance the thermal performance by the thermal conductivity improvement in steam generators.

  • The mixed gas of Hydrogen and Oxygen has obtained from water electrolysis reaction. It has constant volume ratio 2 : 1 Hydrogen and Oxygen, and it is used as a source of thermal energy by combustion reaction. In this paper, Brown Gas Generator with Instantaneous source power control method is designed and relationship between brown gas quantities, efficiency and power condition is studied.

Fabrication of Prototype vuv Spectrometer & Liquid Target System Containing Hydrogen

  • The vuv spectrometer for ITER main plasma measurement is designed as a five-channel spectral system. To develop and verify the design, a two-channel prototype system was fabricated with No. 3 (14.4-31.8 nm) and No. 4 (29.0-60.0 nm) among the five channels. For test of the prototype system, a hollow cathode lamp is used as a light source. The system is composed of a collimating mirror to collect the light from source to slit, and two holographic diffraction gratings with toroidal geometry to diffract and also to collimate the light from the common slit to detectors. The overall system performance was verified by comparing the measured spectral resolutions with the calculated spectral resolutions. And we also have developed liquid jet target system. This study is about a neutron generator, which is designed to overcome many of the limitations of traditional beam-target neutron generators by utilizing a liquid target. One of the most critical aspects of the beam-target neutron generator is the target integrity under the beam exposure. A liquid target can be a good solution to overcome damage to the target such as target erosion and depletion of hydrogen isotopes in the active layer, especially for the ones operating at high neutron fluxes and maintained relatively thin with no need for water cooling. In this study, liquid target containing hydrogen has been developed and tested.

김치 주.부재료의 활성산소에 대한 피부 세포독성 완화효과 (Effect of Kimchi Ingredients to Reactive Oxygen Species in Skin Cell Cytotoxicity)

  • Kimchi showed protective effect from oxidative damage generated by hydrogen peroxide and paraquat. To investigate the major components of kimchi which reduce the cytotoxicity against reactive oxygen species, keratinocyte(A431, epidermoid carcinoma, human) and fibroblast(CCD-986SK, normal control, human) were cultured under oxidative stress condition provoked by paraquat, a superoxide anion generator, and hydrogen peroxide in the absence or presence of kimchi ingredients. Most keratinocyte and fibroblast cells were killed by hydrogen peroxide and paraquat over 1mM concentration, but kimchi ingredients showed protective effects from oxidative damage generated by hydrogen peroxide and onion, among those, garlic showed the most remarkable preventive effect. Most of kimchi ingredients showed protective effect against paraquat, especially leek notably increased cell survival. For fibroblast cells, ginger had the preventive effect against paraquat, especially leek notably increased cell survival. For fibroblast cells, ginger had the preventive effect from cell killing by high dose of hydrogen peroxide, but most ingredients were not effective against paraquat.

  • Concern for new and renewable energy is growing globally. Biogas is one of the alternative fuels and consists of methane and carbon dioxide. It is difficult to achieve efficient engine operation due to a lower heating value of biogas compared to that of natural gas. In order to improve generating efficiency, finding an optimum point of ignition timing and excess air ratio is important. From this fact, generating efficiency and pollutant emissions of 2300cc gas engine generator operated by biogas as functions of ignition timings and excess air ratios were investigated in this study. As a test result, the generating efficiency of the gas engine generator using biogas was 27.34 % in the condition of the BTDC of $16^{\circ}$ and the excess air ratio of 1.4.

대용량 터빈발전기 고정자 권선의 정지중 및 운전중 부분방전 특성 (Off-Line and On-Line Partial Discharge Properties of Large Turbine Generator)

  • Off-line and on-line partial discharges were measured on a 828MVA, 22kV and direct hydrogen-cooled large turbine generator. Partial discharge tests were conducted using digital partial discharge detector(PDD) and turbine generator analyzer(TGA). PDD and TGA showed that off-line partial discharge pattern seems to be very, similar to that found with on-line. Most of the partial discharge is originating with the stator slot in the three phases. As the partial discharge activity is very low, the stator insulation condition of this generator is very good.

  • This work is mainly focused at developing the hydrogen production unit with the capacity of 20 $Nm^3/h$ of high purity hydrogen. At present steam reforming of natural gas is the preferable method to produce hydrogen at the point of production cost. The developed hydrogen production unit composed of natural gas reformer and pressure swing adsorption system. To improve the thermal efficiency of steam reforming reactor, the internal heat recuperating structure was adopted. The heat contained in reformed gas which comes out of the catalytic beds recovered by reaction feed stream. These features of design reduce the fuel consumption into burner and the heat duty of external heat exchangers, such as feed pre-heater and steam generator. The production rate of natural gas reformer was 41.7 $Nm^3/h$ as a dryreformate basis. The composition of PSA feed gas was $H_2$ 78.26%, $CO_2$ 18.49%, CO 1.43% and $CH_4$ 1.85%. The integrated production unit can produce 21.1 $Nm^3/h$ of high-purity hydrogen (99.997%). The hydrogen production efficiency of the developed unit was more than 58% as an LHV basis.

Identification of hydrogen flammability in steam generator compartment of OPR1000 using MELCOR and CFX codes

  • The MELCOR code useful for a plant-specific hydrogen risk analysis has inevitable limitations in prediction of a turbulent flow of a hydrogen mixture. To investigate the accuracy of the hydrogen risk analysis by the MELCOR code, results for the turbulent gas behavior at pipe rupture accident were compared with CFX results which were verified by the American National Standard Institute (ANSI) model. The postulated accident scenario was selected to be surge line failure induced by station blackout of an Optimized Power Reactor 1000 MWe (OPR1000). When the surge line failure occurred, the flow out of the surgeline was strongly turbulent, from which the MELCOR code predicted that a substantial amount of hydrogen could be released. Nevertheless, the results indicated nonflammable mixtures owing to the high steam concentration released before the failure. On the other hand, the CFX code solving the three-dimensional fluid dynamics by incorporating the turbulence closure model predicted that the flammable area continuously existed at the jet interface even in the rising hydrogen mixtures. In conclusion, this study confirmed that the MELCOR code, which has limitations in turbulence analysis, could underestimate the existence of local combustible gas at pipe rupture accident. This clear comparison between two codes can contribute to establishing a guideline for computational hydrogen risk analysis.
