Hydrogen peroxide takes much of the cost for Fenton reaction applied for treatment of organic contaminants. Therefore, the effective use of hydrogen peroxide makes the technology more cost effective. The effective use of hydrogen peroxide is especially needed in the soil and groundwater remediation where complete mixing is not possible and it takes a long time for reactive species to transport to the fixed target compounds. Stabilization ability for hydrogen peroxide of malonic acid was evaluated in Fenton and Fenton-like reactions in this study. Malonic acid contributes on the stabilization of hydrogen peroxide by weak interaction between iron and the stabilizer and inhibiting the catalytic role of iron. The stabilization effect increased as the solution pH decrease below the $pK_{a1}$. The stabilization effect increased as the concentration of malonic acid increased and the effect was maximized at the malonic acid concentration of about ten times higher than the iron concentration. The model organic contaminant was successfully oxidized in the presence of the stabilizer but the degradation rate was slower than the system without the stabilizer. The stabilization effect was also proved in a Fenton-like reaction where magnetite and hematite were used instead of soluble iron species.

Chlamydomonas reinhardtii is a green algae that can use light energy and water to produce hydrogen under anaerobic condition. This work reports the effect of limiting factors on hydrogen production in sulfur deprived anaerobic C. reinhardtii culture. In order to confirm the relationship between hydrogen production and limiting factors such as residual PSII activity and endogenic substrate degradation, the increase in chlorophyll concentration and the decrease in starch concentration was investigated during sulfur deprivation. The overall hydrogen production increased depending on cell density in range of $0.4{\sim}0.96\;g$ DCW/l. At this time, the increase in chlorophyll concentration during 24 h after sulfur deprivation increased in proportion to hydrogen production, however, the decrease in starch concentration was not proportional to that. Therefore, hydrogen production under sulfur deprivation using green alga was closely associated with the residual PSII activity than the endogenic substrate degradation.

To investigate the effect of microstructure on the formation of the desorption peak, the volumetric thermal analysis technique (VTA) was applied to the Mg-13.5 wt% Ni hydride system. The sample made by the HCS (hydriding combustion synthesis) process had two kinds of Mg microstructures. Linear heating was started with various constant heating rates. Only one peak was appeared in the case of the small initial hydrogen wt% (0.83 wt%). Yet, two peaks were appeared with increasing initial hydrogen wt% (1.85 and 3.73 wt%) when only Mg was hydrogenated. The first peak was formed through the evolution of hydrogen from $MgH_2$, made by eutectic Mg. The second peak was formed through the evolution of hydrogen from $MgH_2$, made by primary Mg. Therefore, this result shows that the microstructure also has a considerable effect on forming the desorption peak. We have also derived the hydrogen desorption equations by VTA to get apparent activation energy when the rate-controlling step for the desorption of the hydrided system is the diffusion of hydrogen through the ${\alpha}$ phase and the chemical reaction ${\beta}{\rightarrow}{\alpha}$.
The purpose of this work is to investigate the effect of dissolved hydrogen concentration on crud deposition onto the fuel cladding surface in the simulated primary environments of a pressurized water reactor. Crud deposition tests were conducted in the dissolved hydrogen concentration range of 5~70 cc/kg at $325^{\circ}C$ for 14 days. Needle-shaped NiO deposits were formed in the hydrogen range of 5~25 cc/kg, while polygonal nickel ferrite deposits were observed at a hydrogen concentration above 35 cc/kg. However, the dissolved hydrogen content seems to have little effect on the amount of crud deposits.

The relation between the deformation and the geometrical shape, and the effect of cold work on the hydrogen absorption behavior in palladium were investigated. The Pd specimens used were plates and wires as cold worked and annealed states. The palladium plates and wires were loaded with hydrogen by electrochemical method. Experimental analyses were carried out through X -ray diffraction, micrometer measurement and decimal balance measurement. As the results, it is found that the effect of cold work on hydrogen absorption capacity was relatively small. The deformation of the palladium plates in thickness direction is larger than in other lateral directions whereas the palladium wires showed the same deformation ratio in all radius directions because of the circular distribution of coexisting $\alpha$ and $\beta$ phases. The products of plastic deformation such as slip lines and voids etc. were observed abundantly in all specimens although the specimens had undergone only once of a hydrogen absorption and desorption.
Deuterium is a crucial clean energy source required for nuclear fusion and is a future resource needed in various industries and scientific fields. However, it is not easy to enrich deuterium because the proportion of deuterium in the hydrogen mixture is scarce, at approximately 0.016 %. Furthermore, the physical and chemical properties of the hydrogen mixture and deuterium are very similar. Therefore, the efficient separation of deuterium from hydrogen mixtures is often a significant challenge when using modern separation technologies. Recently, to effectively separate deuterium, studies utilizing the 'Kinetic Quantum Sieving Effect (KQS)' of porous materials are increasing. Therefore, in this review, two different strategies have been discussed for improving KQS efficiency for hydrogen isotope separation performance using nanoporous materials. One is the gating effect, which precisely controls the aperture locally by adjusting the temperature and pressure. The second is the breathing phenomenon, utilizing the volume change of the structure from closed system to open system. It has been reported that efficient hydrogen isotope separation is possible using these two methods, and each of these effects is described in detail in this review. In addition, a specific-isotope responsive system (e.g., 2nd breathing effect in MIL-53) has recently been discovered and is described here as well.

The combustion and smoke emission of an indirect injection diesel engine Were investigated running the engine on Hydrogen/diesel fuels. Hydrogen fuel supplied to the intake pipe was varied 0 to 10 percent of DF2' s heating value. The most inportant finding was that the smoke emission is not decreased with increase of hydrogen fuel supplement. Also, the ignition delay is almost negligible over 10 percent hydrogen fuel mixture.

The structural transitions of the matrix and the second phases of $Ti_{1.0}Mn_{0.9}V_{1.1}$ and $Ti_{1.0}Cr_{1.5}V_{1.7}$ alloys upon hydrogenation have been investigated at 293K. The effect of hydrogen isotope on their crystal structures has been also discussed. The crystal structures, Phase abundance and lattice parameters of the hydrides were determined by the Rietveld method using X-ray diffraction data. At the experimental temperature, the $Ti_{1.0}Mn_{0.9}V_{1.1}$ alloy and $Ti_{1.0}Cr_{1.5}V_{1.7}$ alloy revealed different structural transition processes upon hydrogenation although the crystal structures of these two alloys are both BCC at room temperature. The second phases such as Ti-rich phase with $NiTi_2$ structure and $\alpha$-Ti with HCP structure absorbed hydrogen at relatively low hydrogen pressures and the phase abundance remained almost constant. This means that it is desirable to decrease the amount of the second phases as far as possible in order to increase the effective hydrogen storage capacities of the alloys. The crystal structures of corresponding isotope hydrides, the phase abundance and the lattice parameters did not depend on the kind of hydrogen isotope, but only on the hydrogen content.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of water extract from Artemisiae Argi Folium (WAAF) on hydrogen peroxide production within mouse macrophage Raw 264.7 Cells treated with gallic acid, EtOH, LPS, and acetaminophen. WAAF (0${\sim}$400 ug/mL) was treated with gallic acid, EtOH, LPS, acetaminophen. And the intracellular productions of hydrogen peroxide were measured by dihydrorhodamine 123 (DHR) assay. WAAF showed the restoration of the intracellular productions of hydrogen peroxide which were reduced by gallic acid, EtOH, LPS, and acetaminophen in Raw 264.7 Cells. WAAF could be supposed to have the immunological activity related with macrophage's oxidative burst.
Ammonia is used in the manufacture of fertilizers, refrigerants, stabilizers and many household cleaning agents. These wide applications resulted in ammonia contamination in water. Ammonia can be removed from water by physical, biological, and chemical methods. Ozonation is effictive in the treatment of water with low concentration of ammonia. This study is undertaken to provide kinetic data for the ozonation of ammonia with or without hydrogen peroxide. The results were as follows; The destruction rate of ammonia increased gradually with the influent hydrogen peroxide concentration up to 0.23 mM and inhibited in the range of 0.23~11.4mM, and the maximum removal rate of ammonia achieved at 0.23mM of hydrogen peroxide, and the overall kinetics was first order. The combination effect of hydrogen and ozone to oxide ammonia in aqueous solution was better than ozone alone. The reacted ammonia was converted completely to nitrate ion.
