0.5wt% Ru/$\alpha-Al_2O_3$ catalysts are prepared by deposition-precipitation method for the preferential CO oxidation In order to investigate the effect of pH on the Ru dispersion and particle size, the pH of precursor solution is adjusted to between 5.5 and 9.5. 0.5wt% Ru/$\alpha-Al_2O_3$ catalyst prepared at the pH of 6.5 has high Ru dispersion of 17.9% and small particle size of 7.7nm. In addition, 0.5wt% Ru/$\alpha-Al_2O_3$ catalyst prepared at the pH 6.5 is easily reduced at low temperatures below $150^{\circ}C$ due to high dispersion of $RuO_2$ particle and shows high CO conversion over 90% in the wide temperature range between $100^{\circ}C$ and $160^{\circ}C$. Moreover, the deposition-precipitation is a feasible method to improve the Ru dispersion as compared to the impregnation method. The 0.5wt% Ru/$\alpha-Al_2O_3$ catalyst prepared by deposition-precipitation exhibits higher CO conversion than 0.5wt% Ru/$\alpha-Al_2O_3$ catalysts prepared by impregnation due to higher metal dispersion and better reducibility at low temperature.
Hydrogen concentration depth profiles in homoepitaxial Si(001) films grown from hyper-thermal Si beams generated by ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) ion-beam sputtering have been measured by nuclear reaction analyses as a function of film growth temperature and deposition rate. Bulk H concentrations CH in the crystalline Si layers were found tio be below detection limits, 1${\times}$1019cm-3, with no indication of significant H surface segregation at the crystalline/amorphous interface region. This is quite different than the case for growth by molecular-beam epitaxy (MBE) where strong surface segregation was observed for similar deposition conditions with average CH values of 1${\times}$1020cm-3 in the amorphous overlayer. The markedly decreased H concentrations in the present experiments are due primarily to hydrogen desorption by incident hyperthermal Si atoms. Reduced H surface coverages during growth combined with collisionally-induced filling of interisland trenches and enhanced interlayer mass transport provide an increase in critical epitaxial thicknesses by up to an order of magnitude over previous MBE results.

Si nanocrystallites thin films on P-type (100) Si substrate have been fabricated by pulsed laser deposition using a Nd:YAG laser. After deposition, samples were annealed in several environmental gases ;It the temperature range of 400 to $800^{\circ}C$ Hydrogen passivation was then performed in the forming gas (95 % $N_2$ + 5 % $H_2$) for 1 hr. Strong violet-indigo photoluminescence has been observed at room temperature on nitrogen ambient-annealed Si nanocrystallites. We report the variation of photoluminescence (PL) properties of Si thin films by changing annealing temperatures and by using hydrogen passivation. The results could suggest that the origin of violet-indigo PL should be related to the Quantum size effect of Si nanocrystallite.
Possible role of hydrogen atoms on the formation of microcrystalline silicon films was schematically investigated using a plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition system. A layer-by-layer technique that can alternate deposition of ${\alpha}$-Si thin film and then exposure of H2 plasma was used for this end. The experimental process was extensively carried out under different hydrogen plasma times (t2) at a fixed number of 20 cycles in the deposition. structural properties, such as crystalline volume fractions and grain shapes were analyzed by using a Raman spectroscopy and a scanning electron microscopy. Electrical transports were characterized by the temperature dependence of the dark conductivity that gives rise to the calculation of activation energy (Ea). Optical absorption was measured using an ultra violet spectrophotometer, resulting in the optical energy gap (Eopt). Our experimental results indicate that both of the hydrogen etching and the structural relaxation effects on the film surface seem to be responsible for the growth mechanism of the crystallites in the ${\mu}$c-si films.
Hydrogen-permselective silica membranes were synthesized within tim walls of porous Vycor tubes by chemical vapor depostion of $SiO_2$. Film deposition was carried out using $SiCl_4$ hydrolysis either in the oppm shag reactants or in the one-sided geometry. At temperatures above $600^{\circ}C$ the permeation rate of hydrogen thorough the silica films varied between 0.01 and $025cm^3(STP)/cm^2-min-atm$ depending on the reaction geometry and the $H_2 : N_2$ permeation ratio was about 1000. Permeation rates of both $H_2$ and $N_2$ increased with increasing temperature. The silica membranes produced by one-sided deposition have higher hydrogen permmeation rates than those produced by the opposing reactants geometry although the membranes formed in an opposing reactants geometry were relatively stable during the heat treatment or after exposure to ambient air. These membranes can be applied to high temperature gas separations or membrane reactors once the film deposition process is optimized to get high permeability as well as good stability.

The Al-doped ZnO (AZO) films were deposited on a glass substrate by RF magnetron sputtering in pure Ar and $Ar+H_2$ gas ambient at temperature of $100^{\circ}C$ and annealed in hydrogen ambient at the temperature range from 100 to 300 $^{\circ}C$, respectively. It was found that either the addition of hydrogen to the sputtering gas or the annealing treatment effectively reduced the resistivity of the AZO films. When the AZO films were annealed at the temperature of 300 $^{\circ}C$ for lhr in a hydrogen atmosphere, the resistivity decreased from $2.60{\times}10^{-3}\;{\Omega}cm$ to $8.42{\times}l0^{-4}\;{\Omega}cm$ for the film deposited in pure Ar gas ambient. Under the same annealing conditions of temperature and hydrogen ambient, the resistivity of AZO films deposited in the $Ar+H_2$ gas mixture decreased from $8.22{\times}l0^{-4}\;{\Omega}cm$ to $4.25{\times}l0^{-4}\;{\Omega}cm$. The lowest resistivity of $4.25{\times}l0^{-4}\;{\Omega}cm$ was obtained by adding hydrogen gas to the deposition and annealing process. X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern of all films showed preferable growth orientation of (002) plane. The average transmittance is above 85 % and in the range of 400-1000 nm for all films.

Reduction reactivity and carbon deposition characteristics of three oxygen carrier particles(OCN01, OCN02, OCN03) have been investigated by using hydrogen, methane, syngas, and natural gas as fuels. For all particles, the maximum conversion, the oxygen transfer capacity, and the degree of carbon deposition increased as the reactive carbon contents increased. The reduction rate and the oxygen transfer rate increased as the moles of required oxygen per input gas increased. The change of maximum conversion, reduction rate, oxygen transfer capacity, oxygen transfer rate and degree of carbon deposition for different fuels can be explained consistently by using parameters such as the reactive carbon contents and the moles of require oxygen per input gas.
Owing to advantages of polymeric materials for hydrogen tank liner like light-weight property and high specific strength, polymer based composites have gained much attention. Despite of many benefits, polymeric materials for fuel cell tank cause problems which is critical to applications as low gas barrier property, and poor processability when adding fillers. For these reasons, improving gas barrier property of polymer composites is required to study for expanding application fields. This work presents impermeable polymer nanocomposites by introducing thin barrier coating using layer by layer (LBL) deposition method. Also, bi-layered and quad-layered nanocomposites were fabricated and compared for identifying relationship between deposition step and gas barrier property. Reduction in gas permeability was observed without interrupting mechanical property and processability. It is discussed that proper coating conditions were suggested when different coating materials and deposition steps were applied. We investigated morphology, gas barrier property and mechanical properties of fabricated nanocomposites by FE-SEM, Oxygen permeation analyzer, UTM, respectively. In addition, we revealed the mechanism of barrier performance of LBL coating using materials which have high aspect ratio.

Reduction reactivity and carbon deposition characteristics of mass produced oxygen carrier particle(OCN-650) have been investigated by using hydrogen, methane, syngas, and natural gas as fuels. For all fuels, the maximum conversion and oxygen transfer capacity increased as the temperature increase. The reduction rate and the oxygen transfer rate increased as the temperature increase for methane. However, those values showed maximum at 900$^{\circ}C$ for hydrogen, syngas, and natural gas. To explain consistently the change of maximum conversion, reduction rate, oxygen transfer capacity, oxygen transfer rate and degree of carbon deposition for different fuels, new parameters such as reactive carbon contents and require oxygen per input gas were adopted.
Synthesis of carbon fibers from cotton fiber by pyrolysis process has been described. Synthesis parameters are optimized using Taguchi optimization technique. Synthesized carbon fibers are used for studying hydrogen adsorption capacity using Seivert's apparatus. Transmission electron microscopy analysis and X-ray diffraction of carbon fiber from cotton suggested it to be very transparent type material possessing graphitic nature. Carbon synthesized from cotton fibers under the conditions predicted by Taguchi optimization methodology (no treatment of cotton fiber prior to pyrolysis, temperature of pyrolysis $800^{\circ}C$, Argon as carrier gas and paralyzing time for 2 h) exhibited 7.32 wt% hydrogen adsorption capacity.
