As the hydrofluoric acid leak in Gumi-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do or hydrochloric acid leak in Ulsan, Gyeongsangnam-do demonstrated, chemical related accidents are mostly caused by large amounts of volatile toxic substances leaking due to the damages of storage tank or pipe lines of transporter. Safety assessment is the most important concern because such toxic material accidents cause human and material damages to the environment and atmosphere of the surrounding area. Therefore, in this study, a hydrofluoric acid leaked from a storage tank was selected as the study example to simulate the leaked substance diffusing into the atmosphere and result analysis was performed through the numerical Analysis and diffusion simulation of ALOHA(Areal Location of Hazardous Atmospheres). the results of a qualitative evaluation of HAZOP (Hazard Operability)was looked at to find that the flange leak, operation delay due to leakage of the valve and the hose, and toxic gas leak were danger factors. Possibility of fire from temperature, pressure and corrosion, nitrogen supply overpressure and toxic leak from internal corrosion of tank or pipe joints were also found to be high. ALOHA resulting effects were a little different depending on the input data of Dense Gas Model, however, the wind direction and speed, rather than atmospheric stability, played bigger role. Higher wind speed affected the diffusion of contaminant. In term of the diffusion concentration, both liquid and gas leaks resulted in almost the same $LC_{50}$ and ALOHA AEGL-3(Acute Exposure Guidline Level) values. Each scenarios showed almost identical results in ALOHA model. Therefore, a buffer distance of toxic gas can be determined by comparing the numerical analysis and the diffusion concentration to the IDLH(Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health). Such study will help perform the risk assessment of toxic leak more efficiently and be utilized in establishing community emergency response system properly.

In the sewage structures and wastewater facilities, concrete is exposed to hydrogen sulfide ($H_2S$) which acts as an acid material in a solution, and a strongly acidic sulfate ion ($SO{_4}^{-2}$) is generated by a sulfuric bacteria. Hence, a degradation of concrete with biochemical corrosion would be accelerated. Finally, durability of concrete and concrete structures may be greatly reduced. In this study, in order to remove the hydrogen sulfide which is used by the sulfuric bacteria organic-biologically, the antibiotic metal and metallic salt powders were mixed to concrete, and a suppressing performance of the sulfate ion was assessed. For the sulfuric acid bacteria, a comparative evaluation of antimicrobial performance on neutralized concrete specimens were carried out, also by a rapid chloride penetration test, chloride penetration depths and diffusion coefficients were measured for antibiotic concrete in accordance with the amount of metal and metallic salt-based antibacterial agents. Eventually, by an observation of the biochemical state of the surface of concrete specimens exposed outdoors, the performance and applicability of antibiotic concrete were confirmed.
Aceclofenac is an non-steroidal antiinflammatory drug which has been used in the treatment of rheumatoidal rthritis and osteo-arthritis. In order to decrease the gastric ulcerogenic effects and contol the plasma level of aceclofenac, we have developed the transdermal delivery system of aceclofenac plaster, which were formulated employing matrix polymers of acrylates and penetration-enhancers such as $Lauroglycol^{\circledR}$, $Transcutol^{\circledR}$, oleic acid and linoleic acid. Using Franz diffusion cells mounted with a rat skin, transdermal penetration characteristics of the formulations were evaluated by the HPLC assay of aceclofenac and diclofenac, an active metabolite, in the receptor compartment of pH 7.2 phosphate buffered solution. Skin penetration was increased when the content of aceclofenac increased, showing the flux $(J,\;{\mu}g/cm^2/hr)$ of 0.37 and 2.50 for 2% and 6.75% of the content, respectively. The flux$(J,\;{\mu}g/cm^2/hr)$ from plasters made of $Durotak^{\circledR}$ 87-2074, $Durotak^{\circledR}$ 87-2510 and $Durotak^{\circledR}$ 87-2097 were 2.50, 2.77 and 4.39, respectively. $Durotak^{\circledR}$ 87-2074 showed the lowest penetration due to the carboxylic acid group in the polymer, which might form a strong hydrogen bonding with a secondary amine of aceclofenac. Although both $Durotak^{\circledR}$ 87-2510 and $Durotak^{\circledR}$ 87-2097 are amine-resistant adhesives, $Durotak^{\circledR}$ 872510 showed lower penetration than $Durotak^{\circledR}$ 87-2097 because of the hydroxyl group in $Durotak^{\circledR}$ 87-2510, which might form a weak hydrogen bonding with aceclofenac. These results reveal that the functional group in acrylic polymers would greatly affect the release of aceclofenac from the matrix, which is the rate-limiting step in the penetration of aceclofenac through rat skins. The penetration of aceclofenac from plasters using different penetration-enhancers increased in the following order: Transcutol < linoleic acid < oleic acid. And the flux from the plasters containing oleic acid as a penetrationenhancer was 2.22 times greater than that of creams, which suggest that a newly deveolped aceclofenac plaster could be used in the treatment of rheumatoidal arthritis and osteo-arthritis as an advanced transdermal delivery system.

In order to investigate the structure and dynamics of atatic poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/water system, laser light scattering experiment has been done in the semi-dilute concentration regime at $25^{\circ}C$. The scattering intensity I(q) can be analyzed with the fractal equation of $I(q){\sim}q^{-m}$ instead of Onstein-Zernike type equation. The fractal dimensionality m was found to be constant after reaching the plateau value of $m=2.6{\pm}0.3$ above C=3wt%. The time correlation function of dynamic light scattering has always two different modes such as fast mode and slow one. The cooperative diffusion of fast mode showed concentration independence contrary 4o the reptation theory's concentration dependent exponent of 3/4. The slow mode can be interpreted as the motion of large scale heterogeneities and its strong concentration dependence is apparent with a large negative exponent of -3.0. It is considered that the stereo-regular arrangement with four successive meso units of -OH plays as a key role in forming such heterogeneity.

The current density in copper electroplating is directly related with the productivity and then to increase the productivity, the increase in current density is required. To obtain the high mass flow rate, rotating disk electrode(RDE) was employed. High rotational speed in RDE can increase the mass flow rate and then high speed electroplating was possible using RDE to control mass flow. Two types of cathode were used. One is RDE and another is rotating cylindrical electrode(RCE). A constant-current, constant-voltage and linear sweep voltammetry were applied to investigate current and voltage relationship. The maximum current density without evolution of hydrogen gas was increased with rotational speed. Over 400 rpm, maximum current density was higher than 1000 A/$m^2$. The diffusion coefficients of copper calculated from the slope of the plots are $5.5{\times}10^6\;cm^2\;s^{-1}$ at $25^{\circ}C$ and $10.5{\times}10^6\;cm^2\;s^{-1}$ at $62^{\circ}C$. The stable voltage without evolution of hydrogen gas was -0.05 V(vs Ag/AgCl). Additives were added to prevent dendritic growth on cathode deposits. The surface roughness was analyzed with UV-Vis Spectrophotometer. The reflectance of the copper surface over 600 nm was measured and was related with the surface roughness. As the surface roughness improved, the reflectance was also increased.

The road tunnel is a semi-closed space that is blocked on all sides except the entrance and exit, and in the event of a fire, the smoke of the fire spreads longitudinally due to heat buoyancy caused by the fire and air currents that always exist in the tunnel. To solve this problem, smoke removal facilities are installed in road tunnels to secure a safe evacuation environment by controlling the direction of movement of smoke or directly smoking at fire points. In urban areas, the service level of urban roads decreases due to the increase in traffic due to the increase in population, and as a solution, the construction of underground roads in urban areas is increasing. When a fire occurs during hydrogen leakage through TPRD of a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle (FCEV), the fire intensity depends on the amount of leakage, and the maximum fire intensity depends on the orifice diameter of the TPRD. Considering the TPRD orifice diameter of 1.8 mm, this study analyzed the diffusion distance of fire smoke according to the wind speed of the roadway and the opening interval of the large exhaust port when the maximum fire intensity was 15 MW. As a result, it was analyzed that air flow in the tunnel could be controlled if the wind speed of the road in the tunnel was less than 1.25 m/s, and smoke could be controlled within 200 m from the fire if the damper interval was 50 m and 100 m.
It has been known that ethanol stimulates the secretion of gastric acid regardless of its route of administration. Recently, however, some studies have challenged this view and claimed that ethanol inhibits the gastric acid secretion. This study was undertaken to investigate the effects of ethanol on the gastric acid secretion in anesthetized rat in respect to the route of administration and the concentration of alcohol. Normal saline (pH adjusted to 6.0) was used as standard perfusion solution and ethanol was mixed as 0.8, 1.7, 5, 10 and 20%. Four ml of perfusion fluid was given into stomach via gastric tube and drained from duodenal tube every 5 min. Acid secretion was measured by back titration to pH 6.0 with N/20 NaOH and expressed as ${\mu}Eq/5$ min. Low concentration of ethanol up to 1.7% in perfusion solution caused little changes in acid secretion, but moderate concentration such as perfusion of 5% or 10% ethanol solution inhibited both the basal and histamine-induced gastric secretion. Moreover, loss of perfused acid was seen by 20% ethanol, which means back diffusion of hydrogen ions into the gastric mucosa. However, intravenous administration of ethanol, maintained at the level of 0.1% alcohol in blood, caused significant stimulation of gastric acid. We, therefore, conclude that in anesthetized rat ethanol has dual effects on acid secretion, i.e., inhibiting and enhancing by oral and intravenous administration, respectively, but further investigation is necessary to clarify these effects.
The diffusion of hydrogen ions into a sensing membrane causes the output voltage of pH-ISFET to vary with time, which might be considered to be drift in this sensor. We tried to deposit ultra-thin film for minimizing tile drift that has been considered to be main obstacle for putting pH-ISFET to practical use. In this paper, tantalum pentoxide, known as a good pH sensing membrane, was formed to about $70{\AA}$ thick by sol-gel method on $Si_{3}N_{4}/SiO_{2}$-gate of pH-ISFET. The fabricated $Ta_{2}O_{5}$-gate pH-ISFET showed good sensitivity(about 59mV/ pH) and good lineality in the range of pH $3{\sim}11$, and had relatively small average pH drift of about 0.06 pH/day.
This study was conducted to find means to reduce the foul smell emitted from chicken manure. Rice water was inoculated with Lactobacillus sakei and then examined to determine the bacterial survival rates during storage, and whether fermentation had occurred. Rice water was an excellent medium for the growth of L sakei, given that a viable cell count was maintained for 15 days during storage at $4^{\circ}C$ and decreased slightly thereafter. Furthermore, microorganisms in chicken manure were separated and 14 species were identified. The antibacterial activity of an L. sakei supernatant against the identified microorganisms was measured using the agar diffusion method. The growth of 11 out of 14 species was inhibited, and only Corynebacterium variabile, Enterococcus faecium, and Raoultella ornithinolytica survived. Rice water was fermented by inoculation with L. sakei and mixed with chicken manure, and the quantities of ammonia, ethyl mercaptan, and hydrogen sulfide were measured after 48 hours. Emissions of ammonia and ethyl mercaptan were reduced significantly.

In this work, $TiO_2$ nanoparticles were synthesized using a N2-diluted hydrogen coflow diffusion flame. The effects of flame temperature on the crystalline structure and the size of formed nanoparticles were investigated. The maximum centerline temperature of the flame ranged from 1,920K for $H_2-only$ flame to 863k for $81\%\;N_2-diluted$ flame. The morphology and the crystal structure of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles were analyzed by a TEM and a XRD, respectively. The particle size distribution was also measured by using a scanning mobility particle size. (SMPS). The mean particle diameter was calculated from the TEM images depended on the flame temperature, having minimum at about 1,look. Based on the SMPS measurements, the mean particle diameter of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles at flame temperatures > 1,300K was smaller than that at flame temperatures < 1,300K. From the XRD analysis, it was evident that the anatase fraction increased with decreasing the flame temperature. The portion of anatase phase in $TiO_2$ nanoparticles might be greater than $80\%$ when the flame temperature was lower than 1,000K.
