탄화수소연료의 열분해 Soot발생특성 분석에 관한 연구 (Characterization of Soot Produced from Thermal Decomposition of Hydrocarbon Fuel)

  • Soot and harmful exhaust gas produced by liquid hydrocarbon fuel caused various environmental problems. In this study, soot characteristics produced by thermal decomposition of acetylene and diesel were analyzed, which are formed at different temperatures. These fuels were observed to produce particulate matters, and collected soot samples were observed by using TEM & SEM. These were found to be significantly different in structure and crystallinity.

  • 본 논문에서는 그동안 부산대학교 연소추진연구실에서 진행되어 온 스크램제트 엔진 내의 초음속 연료 공기 혼합 및 난류 연소 연구 결과에 대한 소개가 이루질 것이다. 아울러 실용 스크램제트 엔진에서 이용되는 초임계 탄화 수소 연료 연소의 특징과 수치적 모델링 기법에 대하여 소개가 잇을 것이다.

EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON EMISSION CHARACTERISTICS AND ANALYSIS BY VARIOUS OXYGENATED FUELS IN A D.I. DIESEL ENGINE

  • This paper investigates the effect of oxygen composition in mixed fuel on the exhaust emissions for the direct injection diesel engine. These effects were tested to estimate the change in engine performance and exhaust emission characteristics when commercial diesel fuel and oxygenates blended fuels at a certain fuel and mixed ratio are used. Individual hydrocarbons $(C_1-C_6)$ in exhaust gases, as well as the total amount of hydrocarbons, were analyzed by using gas chromatography to find the mechanism by which smoke emission was remarkably reduced for various oxygenated fuels. The chromatograms between a diesel fuel and a diesel fuel blended DGM (diethylene glycol dimethyl ether), MTBE (methyl tert-butyl ether) and EGBE (ethylene glycol mono-n-butyl ether) were compared. The results showed that the number of individual hydrocarbons as well as the total number of hydrocarbons of oxygenated fuel reduced more remarkably than those of diesel fuel.

  • Natural gas is gaining more attraction as a future fuel in particular both for environmental protection and energy conservation. In order to bring about more widespread use of gaseous engines, the technology capable of achieving output and efficiency performance equivalent to that of diesel engines needs to be developed. In the present paper, the requirements of the pilot torch from pre-chamber for ensuring ignition and promoting combustion are discussed by means of taking high-speed flame photography and system can run with leaner mixture of various fuels comparing to the electric plug ignition system cause the ignition delay period ignited with the torch and the combustion period are very short in spite of changing A/F of gaseous fuels in the main chamber. However, the suitable piston-cavity design for the use of lower-hydrocarbon fuels such as propane and butane must be discussed increasingly in the mear future.

DME/Air 비예혼합화염의 NOx 생성에서 산소원자의 역할 (The Role of Oxygen Atom in the NOx Formation of DME/Air Nonpremixed Flames)

  • The NOx emission characteristics of DME in counterflow nonpremixed flames were investigated numerically, and brief experiments were carried out to compare the flame shapes and NOx emissions with those of $C_{3}H_{8}$ and $C_{2}H_{6}$. The DME flames were calculated using Kaiser's mechanism, while the $C_{2}H_{6}$ flames were calculated using the $C_3$ mechanism. These mechanisms were combined with the modified Miller-Bowman mechanism for the analysis of NOx. Experimental results show that DME flame has the characteristics of partial premixed flame and the flame length becomes very shorter compared with general hydrocarbon fuels and then, the NOx emission of DME is low as much as 60 % of $C_{3}H_{8}$. In the calculated results of counterflow nonpremixed flames, the $EI_{NO}$ of DME nonpremixed flame is low as much as 50 % of the $C_{2}H_{6}$ nonpremixed flame. The cause of $EI_{NO}$ reduction is attributed mainly to the characteristics of partial premixed flame due to the existence of O atom in DME and partly to the O-C bond in DME, instead of C-C bond in hydrocarbon fuels.

Effects of Various Densities and Velocities to Gaseous Hydrocarbon Fuel on Near Nozzle Flow Field in Laminar Coflow Diffusion Flames

  • The experimental study on flow characteristic in various laminar coflow diffusion flame has been conducted with a particular focus on the buoyancy force exerted from gaseous hydrocarbon fuels. Methane ($CH_4$), Ethylene ($C_2H_4$) and n-Butane ($C_4H_{10}$) were used as fuels. Coflow burner and Schlieren technique were used to observe the fuel flow field near nozzle exit and flow characteristics in flames. The result showed that the vortices in n-Butane with density heavier than air were appeared near the nozzle exit with the strong negative buoyancy on the fuel stream. As Reynolds number increases by the control of velocity, the vortices were greater and the vortices tips were moved up from the nozzle exit. In addition, it can be found that the heated nozzle can affect to the flow fields of fuel stream near the nozzle exit.

  • 기체 탄화수소 연료를 사용하는 덤프 연소기의 연소불안정에 개루프 제어를 적용하는 연구를 수행하였다. 연료들의 특성화학시간이 유사한 연소조건에서 음향 발생기를 이용하여 제어 출력과 주파수를 변화시켰다. 연소불안정 주파수와 동일한 주파수의 개루프 제어에서는 음향 발생기의 출력이 제어성능에 영향을 주었다. 연소불안정 주파수와 다른 주파수의 개루프 제어결과로부터 개루프 제어주파수는 연소불안정 주파수와 유사하게 설정하는 것이 효과적임을 알 수 있었다.

  • 본 연구에서는 축산폐수를 이용하여 건조질량의 $15{\sim}75$ %의 탄화수소를 생산한다고 알려진 B. braunii 배양에 적용하였다. 질소원이 부족한 상황에서 세포의 성장이 나 탄화수소의 생산은 저해를 받았으며, 초기 인의 농도는 질소원이 결핍된 상황을 제외하고는 세포 성장이나 탄화수소의 생산에 큰 영향을 미치지 못했다. 축산폐수를 이용한 설험에서는 33 %의 축산폐수가 nitrate를 제거시키는데 가장 적절하였다.

  • Recently, our world is faced with very serious and hard problems related to the air pollution due to the exhaust emissions of the diesel engine. So, lots of researchers have studied to reduce the exhaust emissions which influenced the environment strong. In this paper, the effect of oxygen component in fuel on the exhaust emissions has been investigated for diesel engine. And, we tried to analysis the quantities of the low and high hydrocarbon among the exhaust emissions in diesel engine. It have been investigated by the quantitative analysis of the hydrocarbon $C_1\simC_6$ using the gas chromatography. This study carried out by comparing the chromatogram with diesel fuel and diesel fuel blended DGM(diethylene glycol dimethyl ether) 5%. The results of this study show that the hydrocarbon $C_1\simC_6$ among the exhaust emissions of the mixed fuels are exhausted lower than those of the diesel fuel at the all load and speed. In particular, high boiling point hydrocarbons such as $C_5$ and $C_6$ were reduced remarkably in high speed and load region.
