  • Recently, we have a growing interest in the washland construction for the function of flood control. Therefore this study analyzed flood reduction effect of washland using hydraulic experiment. We used open-channel unit for flood reduction effect of washland. And we used side weir to lateral structure. The result of hydraulic experiment showed a decrease of the average velocity and discharge according to the installation location of side weir. Also, we compared the results of HEC-RAS model and hydraulic experiment for the review of the result of hydraulic experiment. As the result, hydraulic experiment and HEC-RAS model have showed the similar results.

  • For this study, a new hydraulic control unit which designed in compact compared to the currently manufactured hydraulic control unit for ABS has been introduced and its experimental model has been made. Based on the basic principle as ABS using braking force characteristics against slip ratio of tire, half car model bench tester were designed and made to make an analysis of braking effect of the new hydraulic control unit. Experiment for slip ratio characteristics of tire has been carried out using half car model bench tester and with the results of this experiment and control experiment of the new hyraulic control unit, the experiment result of the characteristics of tire and control experiment were compared to find out their correspondence. And furthermore, slip ratio characteristics of the new hydraulic control unit has been studied based on the experiment result of slip ratio characteristics of tire through simulation and compared with experiment result.

  • A valve-less electro-hydraulic servo steering device (short: VSSD) for ships was chosen as a study object, and its mathematic model of hydraulic shock was established on the basis of flow properties and force balance of each component. The influence of system structure parameters, changing rate of motor speed and external load on hydraulic shock strength was simulated by the method of numerical simulation. Experiment was designed to test the hydraulic shock mathematic model of VSSD. Experiment results verified the correctness of the model, and the model provided a correct theoretical method for the calculation and control of hydraulic shock of valve-less electro-hydraulic servo steering device.

  • Generally, not only in order to design three dimensional hydraulic structures such a spillway and to investigate the hydraulic phenomena concerning hydraulic facilities, but also to grasp shape and stability, we simulate actuality phenomenon through hydraulic model experiments. However, it requires too much times, expense and space to perform hydraulic model experiments, as well as it is very difficult to measure reduced scale of actual hydraulic structures. Besides, surface tension can exert fair effect in experiment result, and occasionally an experiment of various case is impossible actually. Therefore, there is necessity to draw proper early result through numerical analysis, and if decide the case of a hydraulic model experiment through the numerical analysis and compare the result, finally economical and reasonable design hydraulic structures are available. This study performs numerical analysis of overflow spillway and an experimental study of hydraulic model tests to design the optimal spillway and suggest a better design to improve hydraulic conditions. From the measurements, revised designs for an hydraulic structure are suggested and consequent improvement effects by the new design are also investigated.

  • The existing of developed scour Equation have a very different value by boundary condition, hydraulic condition and bed condition. Therefore it may give rise to a serious trouble if it make a wrong application of the scour Equation. So this research of purpose is the predicting of scour depths, the method is that analysis river of feature and hydrauric feature for river in kangwondo young-seo region. And hydrauric model experiment of Scour phenomenon execute after the existing of calculate scour depths equation analysis sensitivity, assort a practical.

  • Hydraulic experiments are performed in order to verify the swash effect of seashore structures installed to prevent scouring. However, a great deal of investment and time are required for producing the test apparatus and seashore structure used to perform the hydraulic experiment. The swash effect can be predicted, however, by using a numerical model and validation can be done based on comparisons of the numerical model and hydraulic experiment analysis results, thereby saving the cost and time required for producing the test apparatus and seashore structure. Taking a polyhedral rubble mound structure as the subject, this study performed a comparative analysis of wave run-up and run-down height of the numerical model interpretative results and the hydraulic experiment results, and validated the interpretative simulation wave test modeling technique. The study also predicted the swash effect by using the numerical interpretation approach method, whereby the volume ratio and friction area of the rubble mound were varied for different results.

  • This study is focused on the comparison of a 3 dimensional numerical and hydraulic model experiment for the flow phenomenon when a lock gate is opened. The lock gate is designed to discharge the flood flow rate at $218m^3/s$ of Solicheon at the Kun Jang national industry complex. The three dimensional ${\kappa}-{\epsilon}$ turbulent model of ANSYS CFX-10 of the computational fluid dynamics(CFD) program was used. The characteristics of CFX-10 are able to be simulated effectively for turbulent flow, especially the flow separation of the boundary layer of the two phase interface of air and water. The velocity and the flow pattern of the numerical model was showed to be similar to the results of the hydraulic model experiment.

  • A hydraulic scale model was constructed to investigate the characteristics of flows and pollutant transport in laboratory. The distorted hydraulic scale model by assuming Froude similarity was adopted to represent hydrodynamics and dispersion in a river system. The scale model was composed of water reservoir, slope control part, booster pump, distributing plate and main channel. A constructed scale model will be used to present the overall concentration profiles of tracer and a research will be performed to convert the measured values using a hydraulic scale model to real field scale.

  • A geophysical conductivity logging technique has been adopted to determine hydraulic constants using a simplified physical model that depicts the borehole condition. An experiment has been made by monitoring the conductivity change within the model hole using borehole environment water and incoming-outgoing water of different salinity, under the state of constant flow rate by maintaining balance between inflow and outflow. Conductivity variation features were observed that depended on flow rate, salinity contrasts between fluid within the hole and incoming-outgoing fluid, and density contrasts between fluid conductivity within the hole and incoming fluid. The results of the experiment show the uniform change of fluid conductivity within the hole with time, a fairly good correlation between the flow rate and the conductivity change rate. The geophysical conductivity logging technique can be an efficient tool for determining hydraulic constants if the model equation is verified by henceforward experiments.
