Thermal Influence on Hydraulic Conductivity in Compacted Bentonite: Predictive Modeling Based on the Dry Density-Hydraulic Conductivity Relationship

  • Hydraulic conductivity is a critical design parameter for buffers in high-level radioactive waste repositories. Most employed prediction models for hydraulic conductivity are limited to various types of bentonites, the main material of the buffer, and the associated temperature conditions. This study proposes the utilization of a novel integrated prediction model. The model is derived through theoretical and regression analyses and is applied to all types of compacted bentonites when the relationship between hydraulic conductivity and dry density for each compacted bentonite is known. The proposed model incorporates parameters such as permeability ratio, dynamic viscosity, and temperature coefficient to enable accurate prediction of hydraulic conductivity with temperature. Based on the results obtained, the values are in good agreement with the measured values for the selected bentonites, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed model. These results contribute to the analysis of the hydraulic behavior of the buffer with temperature during periods of high-level radioactive waste deposition.

순간수위 변화시험, 단공양수시험 및 단계양수시험을 통한 수리상수 추정연구 (Estimation of Hydraulic Parameters from Slug, Single Well Pumping and Step-drawdown Tests)

  • 본 연구는 연구지역의 수리상수를 추정하여 오염된 지하수의 정화공법 설계에 효과적으로 사용하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 수행된 수리시험은 순간수위변화시험, 단공양수시험 및 단계양수시험이다. 순간수위변화시험은 대표적인 Bouwer and Rice 직선법과 C-B-P 특성곡선법(type curve)으로 해석하였다. Bouwer and Rice법으로 해석한 평균 수리전도도 값은 $4.48{\times}10^{-3}cm/sec$ 이며 중앙값은 $1.16{\times}10^{-3}cm/sec$이다. C-B-P법으로 구한 평균 수리전도도 값은 $2.37{\times}10^{-3}cm/sec$이며 중앙값은 $7.09{\times}10^{-4}cm/sec$이다. 두 해석 결과 연구지역의 하부가 화강암으로 이루어져 있어 대체로 투수성이 낮아 Bouwer and Rice법으로 해석한 수리전도도가 높게 나타난다. 단공양수시험은 GW7, GW12 및 MW9 관정에서 수행하였으며 여러 종류의 특성곡선법을 적용하여 해석하였다. GW7 관정은 GW12 및 MW9 관정보다 수리전도도 및 투수량 계수가 낮으며 이는 기반암의 파쇄대 및 절리의 여부와 관련된 것으로 판단된다. 단계양수시험은 KDPW1 및 KDPW2 관정에서 수행하였으며 해석방법에 따라 수리상수 값의 차이가 나타나지만 매우 미미하며 본 연구에서 해석한 수리상수 값은 오염지하수 정화설계에 있어 적절히 활용될 것으로 판단된다.

  • 본 연구에서는 2종류의 피라미드형 패조류용 인공어초의 안정성 평가를 위해 Froude 상사법칙을 적용한 고정상 및 이동상 수리모형실험을 수행하였으며, 현장 설계외력(파랑, 흐름 등) 조건에 따라 이론적/실험적 검토를 하였다. 실험 결과는 파랑-흐름 공존장에서 어초의 안정성에 영향을 미치는 무차원 영향인자(설계파라메타)인 쇄파상사지수, 수립자속도, 파압 등을 사용하여 상호관련성을 검토하였다. 그 실험결과, 어초의 활동을 일으키는 한계조건은 고정상 실험에서는 쇄파상사지수에 따라서 무차원 최대수립자속도가 약 0.4 이상일 때, 이동상 실험에서는 무차원 파압에 따라서 상대수심이 약 0.11 이하일 때 나타났다. 또한 상대수심에 따른 수평 및 연직 파압은 상대수심이 증감함에 따라서 선형적으로 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다.

  • This paper presents a new type of jetting dispenser for the integrated circuit (IC) fabrication and surface mount technology The proposed system is featured by the piezoelectric actuator and hydraulic magnification device. After describing structural component of the dispensing mechanism and its operation principle, both the fluid modeling and the hydraulic magnification modeling are undertaken with a lumped-parameter method based on the analogy of the fluid system and mechanical system. A mathematical governing equation is then derived by integrating the fluid model with the mechanical model of the driving piston and piezoelectric actuator. Subsequently, in order to achieve a desired dispensing amount, control algorithm adjusting duty cycle of the driving voltage is synthesized and control responses are presented in time domain.

  • In the case of the remediation studies, push pull test is a more time and cost effective mettled than multi-well tracer test. It also gives Just as much or more information than the traditionally used methods. But the data analysis for the hydraulic parameters, there have been some defections such as underestimation of dispersivity, requirement for effective porosity, and calculation of recovery of center of mass to estimate linear velocity. In this research, Weibull distribution function is proposed to estimate the center of mass of breakthrough curve for Push pull test. The hydraulic parameter estimation using Weibull function showed more exact values of center of mass than those of exponential regression for field test data.

  • The variable structure controller has the characteristic that while in sliding mode, the system moves along the switching plane in the vicinity of the switching plane, so it is robust to the parameter fluctuations of the plant. However, a controller based on a variable structure may not meet the desired performance when it is commanded to track any input or exposed to disturbances. To solve this problem, a sliding mode controller based on the IVSC approach excluding an integrator is proposed in this study. The proposed sliding mode control was applied to the position control of a hydraulic cylinder piston. The sliding plane was determined by the pole placement and the control input was designed to ensure the existence of the sliding mode. The feasibility of the modeling and controller was reviewed by comparing it with a conventional proportional control through computer simulation using MATLAB software and experiment in the presence of significant plant parameter fluctuations and disturbances.

  • In this study, the analysis of the static and dynamic characteristics of the load-sensitive hydraulic pump control system used in the hydraulic excavator was performed by hydraulic circuit ananlysis program. Thess results was verified by the experimental data of the hydraulic excavtor system. The responses on effective parameters of system at the controllable region and the pressure variation of the pump used in hydraulic excavator system was studied to enhance the static performace of the system. the parameter enhance dynamic sharacteristics was considerd.

  • The clutch system is a subcomponent of the transmission that is designed to engage and disengage power flow between the engine and the transmission. Recently, the engine power of automobile has been continuously increased because of customer's demand for the bigger one. As the engine power is increased, the vibration transmitted to the hydraulic clutch operating system has been increased. Therefore the demand for the reduction of clutch pedal vibration during the operation has been increased. This paper describes the pressure pulsation reduction characteristics of the damper cylinder which is applied to the hydraulic clutch operating system. And the purpose of this study is to propose an analysis model and investigate the effect of the design variable variations for the hydraulic clutch system. Especially, we studied the effect of damper cylinder parameter variations on the hydraulic clutch system performance.

인공용승구조물 주변 흐름의 3차원 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Characteristic of Three-Dimensional Flow around the Artificial Upwelling Structures)

  • From the hydraulic experiment, it was concluded that upwelling could be enhanced when the relative structure height (the ratio of structure height to water depth) was 0.3 and stratification parameter was 3.0. In addition, the optimum size of rubbers was determined that the effect of the mean horizontal length of block was affected incident velocity than size of block. In the numerical experiment, the relation between the shape of rubber and stratification parameter was verified, ana the hydraulic characteristics of 3-D flow field around the artificial structures were investigated. Phenomena of flow field around the artificial upwelling structures corresponded with the results of hydraulic experiment. The position with maximum velocity in artificial upwelling structure was the center of top of its front side and the slip stream occurred at the inside and behind-bottom of artificial upwelling structures. The velocity of slip stream and early amplitude of velocity were higher in the inside than the behind-bottom.
