Adaptive Discrete Time Sliding-Mode Tracking Control of a Proportional Control Valve-Hydraulic System in the presence of friction (비선형 마찰특성을 고려한 비례제어밸브·유압실린더계의 적응 이산시간 슬라이딩모드 추적제어)

  • As nonlinear friction, stick-slip friction in hydraulic actuators are a problem for accuracy and repeatability. Therefore friction compensation has been approached through various control algorithms. A Adaptive discrete time sliding mode tracking controller has been applied in order to compensate the nonlinear friction characteristics in a hydraulic Actuator. Based on the diophantine equation, a new discrete time sliding function is defined and utilized for the control law which includes a friction and modeling error. Robustness is increased by using both a projection algorithm and a sliding function-based nonlinear feedforward. From the results of simulation and experiment good tracking performance is achieved.

  • This paper present a method of meter-out flow control for overload protection valve in full-scale airframe test. Emergency stop, which results in dump state, can be happened during full-scale airframe test by several causes. Because servo valve can't control hydraulics actuator in the dump state, pressure in cylinder chamber may rise abruptly and overload can be acted to the test article. In this paper, the procedure and technology of orifice setting are investigated to protect the test article from unexpected loads by dump. The test results show that the presented methods decrease peak loads and improve unloading characteristics of hydraulic actuators in the dump state.

  • A servo actuator with a valve using MR (Magneto-Rheological) fluid is proposed for fluid control systems. The MR fluid is well known as a functional fluid whose apparent viscosity is controlled by the applied magnetic field strength. The pressure in the MR cylinder can be controlled by the applied magnetic field strength. Good points of the MR cylinder are more simple, compact and reliable structure than a conventional oil hydraulic cylinder. The experimental results show that the MR cylinder could be used as a servo actuator.

  • The line pressure control system for an automotive transmission in which a bleed type variable force solenoid(VFS) is applied, has been constructed and experimentally investigated. The hydraulic circuit of the system includes a line pressure control valve, a reducing valve, an accumulator, various orifices and a VFS. Static and dynamic responses of the throttle and line pressure have been monitored and discussed for various test conditions.

  • To produce adequate electricity in nuclear and thermal power plants, an optimal amount of steam should be supplied to a generator connected to high- and low-pressure steam turbines. A turbine output control device, which is a special steam valve employed to supply or interrupt the steam to the turbine, is operated using a hydraulic servo actuator. In power plants, the performance of servo actuators is degraded by the air generated from the hydraulic system, or causes frequent failures owing to an increase in the wear of the seal. This is due to the seal being burnt as generated heat using the produced compressed air. Some power plants have exhausted air using a fixed orifice, and thus they encounter power loss due to mass flow exhaust. Failures are generated in hydraulic pumps, electric motors, and valves, which are frequently operated. In this study, we perform modeling and analysis of the load-sensing air-exhaust valves, which can be passed through very fine flow under normal use conditions, and exhaust mass flow air at the beginning stage as with existing fixed orifices. Then, we propose a method to prevent failures due to the compressed air, and to ensure the control accuracy of hydraulic servo actuators.

The Experimental Study on Characteristics of Valve System using Hole Type Valve Lift Sensor (밸브 거동 특성 파악을 위한 hole 센서의 적용에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Recently, controlled auto ignition(CAI) in gasoline engines are drawing more attentions due to its extremely low level of NOx emissions and potentials in lowering the fuel consumption rate. The one of the key techniques for realizing CAI combustion in engines is the control of valve system. Since the valve linkage system with higher complexity, or even earn-less valve systems, such as electro-hydraulic and electro-magnetic system, are adopted in CAI engines, it is not easy to estimate the valve lift profile from earn profiles. Therefore new measurement techniques for valve lift in CAI engines have been tried and tested. In this paper, hole type valve lift sensor was developed and tested to check the applicability in CAI engines. The valve lifts could be obtained from the sensor signal, which depends on the distance from the sensor to magnet attached to valve. Various engine speeds, ranging from 2,000 to 6,000 rpm, and valve lifts, maximum up to 9.7 mm, were tested. It was found that the sensor output for valve lift had accuracy of 98% in comparison with the basic specifications of valve lift through improvements of sensor driving circuit.

Development of a self-leveling system for the bucket of an agricultural front-end loader using an electro hydraulic proportional valve and a tilt sensor (전자유압 비례밸브와 경사센서를 이용한 농용 프론트 로더 버켓 능동수평유지 시스템 개발)

  • A front-end loader (FEL) mounted on an agricultural tractor is one of the most commonly used implements for farm work. However, when the tractor carries material using the bucket attached to the FEL on a sloping ground, the materials can spill or roll back over the operator due to the tilted body, thereby requiring the bucket surface to remain level at a constant value regardless of varying slopes. In this study, an active system for controlling the angle of the FEL bucket on a tractor based on the real-time measurement of ground slopes was developed to enable the bucket to constantly remain level. A FEL simulator operated based on an electro hydraulic proportional valve (EHPV) was constructed in the laboratory to develop a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller forming a virtual electronic control unit (ECU) on the computer, which could automatically adjust the bucket angles depending on varying input angles while sending SAE-J1939 associated messages via CAN BUS to the EHPV. The different parameter values for the PID controller due to the gravity effect of the bucket were determined using a manual PID tuning method while assuming that the tractor travels on either an ascending slope or a descending slope. The developed PID control-based self-leveling system showed a mean of steady-state errors of within $1^{\circ}$ and a mean of delayed times of ~ 0.8s when the step input of $+20^{\circ}$ was given, implying that the developed system and control algorithm would be effective in maintaining the bucket angle at a certain value. Future studies include the improvement of the control algorithm to reduce such a time delay as well as the application of the developed algorithm to the FEL mounted on a tractor tested at a testing ground.

  • This paper developed the model for electro hydraulic force control system by identification method via ARMAX model. Implementation of Identification is performed on Pin-On-Disk type tribotester. The wear mechanism is an important mechanic property to select a material´s life and a optimum work condition. Pin-on-disk type tribotester is popular wear analysis experimental equipment and its mechanism is that adding a force on a rotating disk to simplify two surface contact´s wear experimental condition.   • Most of the work of construction equipment and agricultural machinery is done in off-road conditions. Autonomous driving required in these conditions uses GPS sensors, and PID controllers to control their speed and position. The hydrostatic steering, which is composed of a PSU, hydraulic hoses, and cylinders, rather than a mechanical coupling is used in these equipments. The PSU plays a key role in hydrostatic steering. Precise control of the position under various conditions requires detailed behavioral analysis of the basic components and operation. Two Gerotor PSU is now a commonly used safer option. The components of the PSU can be divided into mechanical and hydraulic actuating elements by its behavior. Since the system is combined by mechanical and hydraulic elements, the modelings are performed using Amesim, which is one of the most effective for the multi-domain dynamic system analysis. To confirm the validity of the model, input torque and pressures are checked with varying steering speed. The opening and the steering speed of normal and newly designed control valve set is investigated with the effect of centering spring force and friction. Finally, simulation results with fully detailed model with two gerotors are analyzed and compared with simple model.
