Verification of a hybrid control approach for spacecraft attitude stabilization through hardware-in-the-loop simulation

  • State dependent Riccati equation (SDRE) control technique has been widely used in the control society. Although it solves nonlinear optimal control problems, which minimizes state error and control efforts simultaneously, it has drawbacks when it is to be applied to the real time systems in that it requires much computational efforts. So the real time system whose computational ability is limited (for example, satellites) cannot afford to use SDRE controller. To solve this problem, a hybrid controller which is based on MSDRE (Modified SDRE) and ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System) has been proposed by Abdelrahman et al. (2010). We propose a hybrid controller based on SDRE and ANFIS, and apply the hybrid controller to the hardware attitude simulator to perform a HIL (Hardware-In-the-Loop) simulation. Through HIL simulation, it is demonstrated that the hybrid controller satisfies the control requirement and the computation load is reduced significantly. In addition, the effects of statistical properties of the ANFIS training data to the performance of the ANFIS controller have been analyzed.

  • In this paper, an energy regeneration algorithm is proposed to make the maximum use of the regenerative braking energy for a parallel hybrid electric vehicle(HEV) equipped with a continuous variable transmission(CVT). The regenerative algorithm is developed by considering the battery state of charge(SOC), vehicle velocity and motor capacity. The hydraulic module consists of a reducing valve and a power unit to supply the front wheel brake pressure according to the control algorithm. In order to evaluate the performance of the regenerative braking algorithm and the hydraulic module, a hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) is performed. In the HILS system, the brake system consists of four wheel brakes and the hydraulic module. Dynamic characteristics of the HEV are simulated using an HEV simulator. In the HEV simulator, each element of the HEV powertrain such as internal combustion engine, motor, battery and CVT is modelled using MATLAB/$Simulink^{(R)}$. In the HILS, a driver operates the brake pedal with his or her foot while the vehicle speed is displayed on the monitor in real time. It is found from the HILS that the regenerative braking algorithm and the hydraulic module suggested in this paper provide a satisfactory braking performance in tracking the driving schedule and maintaining the battery state of charge.

  • Recently, most of the countries started to regulate the emission of vehicle because of the global warming. The engine scooter is also one of the factor which cause the pollution. The hybrid system of a vehicle has many advantages such as fuel saving and emission reduction. The purpose of this study is to choose optimal size of engine, motor and battery for hybrid scooter system using Dynamic programming. The dynamic programming is an effective method to find an optimal solution for the complicated nonlinear system, which contains various constraints of control variables. The power source size of hybrid scooter was chosen through the backward simulator using dynamic programming. From the analysis, we choose the optimal size of each power source. To verify the optimal size of the power source, the Forward simulation was carried out. As a result, the fuel efficiency of hybrid scooter has significantly increased in comparison with that of engine scooter.

A Flexible Conveying System using Hybrid Control under Distributed Network

  • In this research, we propose a flexible conveying system (FCS) which consists of multiple arrays of cells. Each cell is a wheel driven by a two degree-of-freedom mechanism. The direction and velocity of cell are controlled based on the concept of hybrid control under a distributed network. Each cell has its own controller under a subsumption architecture for low-level control. A cell communicates with its four neighboring cells to manipulate n targeted object towards its desired position. The high-level control assigns a desired position and direction of the object to each cell. The path of each object is generated by many supporting cells. Moreover, the FCS can handle multiple objects simultaneously. To study the flexible conveying system, a GUI-based simulator of flexible conveying system is constructed. The simulated results show that the system can handle multiple objects independently and simultaneously under the proposed hybrid control architecture.

  • This paper suggests a structure of power control system in floating wave-offshore wind hybrid power generation system. We have developed an unified SCADA(Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system which can be used to monitor and control PCS(Power Conversion System) based on IEC61850. The SCADA system is essential to perform the algorithm like proportional distribution and data acquisition, monitoring, active power, reactive power control in hybrid power generation system. IEC61850 is an international standard for electrical substation automation systems. It was made to compensate the limitations of the legacy industrial protocols such as Modbus. In order to test the proposed SCADA system and algorithm, we have developed the wind-wave simulator based Modbus. We have designed a protocol conversion device based on real-time Linux for the communication between Modbus and IEC61850. In this study, SCADA system consists of four 3MW class wind turbines and twenty-four 100kW class wave force generator.

BLOCS: 블록 상관관계를 인지하는 시퀀스 패턴 마이닝 기반 하이브리드 스토리지 캐슁 알고리즘 (BLOCS: Block Correlation Aware Sequential Pattern Mining based Caching Algorithm for Hybrid Storages)

  • 본 논문은 SSD를 캐쉬로 사용하는 하이브리드 저장장치에서 캐쉬에 저장할 데이터를 찾기 위한 BLOCS 기법을 제안한다. 시퀀스 패턴 마이닝을 사용하는 BLOCS 기법은 파일시스템에서 호출하는 섹터들의 연관성을 발생한 순서를 고려하여 빈번히 요청되는 섹터들의 집합을 생성한다. 비교 분석을 위해 탐색거리(DIST) 기반 기법과 요청 빈도(FREQ) 기반 기법 그리고 빈도와 크기의 곱(F-S) 기반 기법을 제안하였다. 제안한 캐슁 기법을 평가하기 위해 하이브리드 캐슁 시뮬레이터를 개발하여 적중률과 응답시간 정보를 얻는다. 부팅 시 발생하는 I/O의 흐름자료와 10개의 응용프로그램들의 실행 시나리오에서 발생한 I/O 흐름자료를 수집하여 캐쉬 시뮬레이터의 입력으로 사용하였다. 실험 결과 부팅 흐름자료에서 제안한 BLOCS 기법이 61%의 적중률을 나타내서 적중률이 가장 낮았던 거리 우선 기반 기법에 비해 15% 더 높은 적중률을 보였다.

태양광/연료전지용 배터리 충·방전 하이브리드 시스템 설계 (Design of Hybrid System for Battery Charge·Discharge using Photovoltaic/Fuel cell)

  • Photovoltaic and fuel cell systems can be used as power source in mobile robots. At this time the photovoltaic system generally generate power in daytime. The starting time of fuel cell is slower than the lithium battery. To compensate for these disadvantages, a battery charge-discharge system is used. Especially the bi-directional converter is used mainly in the charge-discharge method. The controller in a buck converter controls the input voltage of the converter to meet the maximum power point tracking(MPPT) performance. First of all, the simulations of hybrid system for battery charge-discharge system in each step simulated using solar and fuel cell modeling as input source in PSIM. Experiment of the buck and bi-directional converter system is conducted through using photovoltaic/fuel cel simulator(pCube) instead of solar and fuel cell. This hybrid system for battery charge discharge using photovoltaic/fuel cell generates emergency power for the communication system in mobile robot.

음장파라미터 추출을 위한 음선추적 시뮬레이터의 구현 (Implementation of ray tracing simulator for extracting sound field parameters)

  • 연주공간의 음장 파라미터를 효과적으로 추출하기 위하여 음원에서 발생한 음선들을 청취자위치에 도달하기까지 추적한 후 이를 영상음원으로 변환하여 연주공간의 방향성 충격응답을 구하는 방식인 혼성 음성추적법을 적용한 음장시뮬레이터를 구현하였다. 제안된 방법을 통해 측정등에 의한 방법보다 적은 시간과 경비로 방향성 충격응답을 정확히 구할 수 있다. 구현된 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 콘서트홀이나 교회등의 연주공간에서의 방향성충격응답을 구하여 초기반사음들의 크기와 방향을 추출할 수 있음을 보였다.

  • A hybridized simulator for generating blood pressure waveform is proposed to study the remedy and/or evaluation of the conventional sphygmomanometer utilizing the oscillometric method which is widely applied. The blood pressure of a flowing fluid was controlled for the blood vessel's condition caused by a rhythmical and periodical contraction/relaxation because of the special excitatory and conductive system of the heart. In this study, a hybridized controller composed of the PI feedback controller and the feedforward controller. The inverse dynamics function is proposed to operating the control valve while the pressure is applied in an oil pressure tank. The proposed hybrid simulator reproducing the blood pressure waveform in an artificial blood vessel has kept the control performance consistent over all range. Based on these results, the proposed simulators could be applied to the development and compensation of the non invasive sphygmomanometer type as well as to study the characteristics of the blood pressure and blood vessel.

직렬형 플러그인 하이브리드 전기 버스의 엔진 구동 전략에 따른 시뮬레이션 기반 연비 분석 (Analysis of Fuel Economy for Series Plug-in Hybrid Electric Bus according to Engine Operation Strategy Based on Simulation)

  • Because of high oil prices and emission gas problems, many governments tighten regulation of fuel economy and emission gas. For Passenger car, there are many researches for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and they are being manufactured. On the other hand, there are few researches for plug-in hybrid electric bus that is heavy commercial vehicle. In this study, analysis of fuel economy for series plug-in hybrid electric bus according to engine operation strategy based on simulation is conducted. Forward simulator is developed using Autonomie. Engine operation strategies consist on constant engine operation strategy and engine on/off operation strategy. Considering the engine operation strategy, results of vehicle speed, engine operating points and fuel economy are obtained and analyzed. As a result, engine on/off operation strategy has more advantage than constant engine operation strategy in terms of fuel economy.
