Decarbonization and energy transition can be considered as a main concern even for the oil industry. One of the initiatives to reduce emissions under studies considers the use of renewable energy as a complimentary supply of electric energy of the production platforms. Wind energy has a higher TRL (Technology Readiness Level) than other types of energy converters and has been considered in these studies. However, other types of renewable energy have potential to be used and hybrid concepts considering wind platforms can help to push the technological development of other types of energy converters and improve their efficiency. In this article, a preliminary hydrodynamic assessment of a new concept of hybrid wind and wave energy conversion platform was performed, in order to evaluate the potential of wave power extraction. A multiple OWCs (Oscillating Water Column) WEC (Wave Energy Converter) design was adopted for the analysis and some simplifications were adopted to permit using a frequency domain approach to evaluate the mean wave power estimation for the location. Other strategies were used in the OWC design to create resonance in the sea energy range to try to maximize the potential power to be extracted, with good results.

The purpose of this study is to develop hybrid energy blocks with piezoelectric and electromagnetic induction method. The developed energy block is able to be applied to the housing and facilities in the city and is suitable to adjust the characteristics of facilities. To develop the hybrid energy block, we analyzed the characteristics and requirements of various energy block types and drew improvement and application method to develop energy blocks. We compared and analyzed the characteristics and performance of the prototype energy blocks and the developed hybrid energy blocks. According to result of the comparison and analysis, the developed energy block shows higher performance of 12.7 times for adding one vibration and 28.9 times for five consecutive vibrations than that of a existing prototype energy block. This is consistent with research purposes for W-level electrical energy production. Thus, the new energy block will likely be possible to apply to the housing and urban facility.

In addition to the energy storage facilities based on high power technologies, Electric double layer capacitors(EDLC) are today's candidate for power quality stabilization. However, its low energy density is often inhibiting factor for application of electric power industry. Hybrid supercapacitor is an promising energy storage device that positioned between conventional EDLC and Li-ion battery. This paper describes the preparation and characteristics of a hybrid supercapacitor and module for power quality stabilization. A cylindrical 3200F hybrid supercapacitor ($60{\times}74.5mm$) was assembled by using the $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ electrode as an anode and activated carbon as a cathode. It shows 2.5 times higher energy density than conventional EDLC with the same volume. In order to determine the characteristics of the hybrid supercapacitor Module for uninterruptible power supply (UPS), hybrid supercapacitor cells were connected in series with active balancing circuit. At even the high current density of 14A(10C), Module prepared by 18 cells showed the capacitance of 170F at 30~50V, suggesting the applicability for UPS.

Hybrid wind Diesel stand-alone power systems are considered economically viable and effective to create balance between production and load demand in remote areas where the wind speed is considerable for electric generation, and also, electric energy is not easily available from the grid. In Wind diesel hybrid system, the wind energy system is the main constitute and diesel system forms the back up. This type of hybrid power system saves fuel cost, improves power capacity to meet the increasing demand and maintains the continuity of supply in the system. Problem we face in this system is that even after producing enough power through wind turbine system, considerable portion of this power needs to be dumped due to short term oversupply of power and to maintain the frequency within close tolerances. As a result remaining portion of total energy supplied comes from the diesel generator to overcome the temporal energy shortage. This scenario decreases the overall efficiency of hybrid power system. In this study, efficient Simulink modeling for wind-diesel hybrid system is proposed and some simulations study is carried out to verify the feasibility of the proposed scheme.
The Hybrid Safety Injection Tank is a passive safety injection system that enables the safety injection water to be injected into the reactor pressure vessel throughout all operating pressures by connecting the top of the SIT and the pressurizer(PZR). In this study, the condition for balancing the pressure between the Hybrid SIT and PZR was derived theoretically. The pressure balancing condition was set at the point where the velocity of the Hybrid SIT coolant injected into the Direct Vessel Injection(DVI) line was at or above zero. If the condition was derived from a pressure network for the Hybrid SIT, pressurizer, and reactor pressure vessel, the pressure difference between the pressurizer and SIT is less than 0.07 MPa.
In this study, the solar thermal and geo-source heat pump(GSHP) hybrid system for heating and cooling of Zero Energy Solar House(ZESH) was analyzed by experiment. The GSHP in this hybrid system works like as aback-up device for solar thermal system. This hybrid system was designed and installed for Zero Energy Solar House (KIER ZeSH) in Korea Institute of Energy Research. The purpose of this study is to find out that this system is optimized and operated normally for the heating load of ZeSH. The analysis was conducted as followings ; - the thermal performance of facade integrated solar collector - the on/off characteristics of solar system and GSHP - the contribution of solar thermal system. - the performance of solar thermal and ground source heat pump system respectively. - the meet of thermal load (space and water heating load). This experimental study could be useful for the optimization of this system as well as its application in house. This hybrid system could be commercialized for the green home if it is developed to a package type.

Industrial low temperature waste heat exists sparse in surroundings but its amount is huge. However, large portion of waste heat is discarded due to its poor recovery quality and inferior application technologies. The heat pump system in this research is based on the hybrid combination of compression cycle and absorption cycle in order to recycle various kind of industrial waste heat effectively. The prime objective is to design a compression absorption hybrid heat pump system which can produce high temperature above the level of $90^{\circ}C$ and low temperature of $20^{\circ}C$ at the same time using waste heat water of $50^{\circ}C$. A mathematical simulation was carried out as a basis to design a prototype 3 RT class hybrid heat pump. From the simulation results, fundamental parameters to design the system were obtained.
A well designed hybrid power system (HPS) can deliver electrical energy in a cost effective way. In this paper, model for HPS consisting of photo voltaic (PV) module and wind mill as renewable energy sources (RES) and solar lead acid battery as storage device connected to unidirectional grid is developed for peak demand reduction. Life time energy cost of the system is evaluated. One year hourly site condition and load pattern are taken into account for analysing the HPS. The optimal HPS is determined for least life time energy cost subject to the constraints like state of charge of the battery bank, dump load, renewable energy (RE) generation etc. Optimal solutions are also found out individually for PV module and wind mill. These three systems are compared to find out the most feasible combination. The results show that the HPS can deliver energy in an acceptable cost with reduced peak consumption from the grid. The proposed optimization algorithm is suitable for determining optimal HPS for desired location and load with least energy cost.
This paper deals with the possibility on the hybrid power system concerning wind energy at a really existing island, Sunyoo-do in the west sea near Seamangeum. In the present stage, Diesel system produces all the electrical power of the Island. However, in the new proposed system of Diesel and wind energy, an optimized guideline for drive from the economic analysis on this hybrid system is given by a mathematical and statistical modelling with a share software HOMER (hybrid optimization model for electric renewables). After a series of analysis it has been shown that the hybrid system can reduce the total expenses as well as air pollution.
The aim of this experimental study is to investigate the free vibration and buckling behaviors of hybrid composite beams having different span lengths and orientation angles subjected to different impact energy levels. The impact energies are applied in range from 10 J to 30 J. Free vibration and buckling behaviors of intact and impacted hybrid composite beams are compared with each other for different span lengths, orientation angles and impact levels. In free vibration analysis, the first three modes of hybrid beams are considered and natural frequencies are normalized. It is seen that first and second modes are mostly affected with increasing impact energy level. Also, the fundamental natural frequency is mostly affected with the usage of mold that have 40 mm span length (SP40). Moreover, as the impact energy increases, the normalized critical buckling loads decrease gradually for $0^{\circ}$ and $30^{\circ}$ oriented hybrid beams but they fluctuate for the other beams.
