Simulation Study on the Optimization of Hybrid Light Guide Plates for Edge-lit Backlight Applications

  • The ray-tracing technique was used to optimize the light guide plate for the purpose of improving the on-axis luminance on the edge-lit backlights. One-dimensional prisms and engraved V-shaped patterns were applied to the upper and the lower surfaces of the light guide plate, respectively. By optimizing the apex angles of these micro-structures, as well as the shape of the reverseprism film put over the light guide plate, highly-collimated light-output distribution could be obtained on the backlight, which may contribute to the development of mobile LCD's with low power consumption.

Advanced High Frequency AC Propulsion System for Next Generation Electric Hybrid Vehicle

  • 본 논문은 PNGV 계획에 따른 차세대 전기자동차의 개발을 위하여 고주파 교류 전력분배 시스템을 적용하여 이용할 수 있는 추진력 장치의 구현 가능성에 대한 조사 연구이다. 실행 가능한 관점에서 전력 분배와 에너지원의 결합이 쉽게 이루어 질 수 있고 변환이 가능한 여러 가지 형태의 시스템이 비교 검토되었으며, 현재 기술 수준으로 보아 가까운 장래에 실현 가능한 최적의 시스템 구성은 배터리와 내연기관엔진 및 유도전동기를 이용하는 하이브리드형이 제시되었다. 각 시스템의 원활한 전력수급과 운전특성을 위하여 단상 고주파 교류 전력분배 제어기법을 적용하였으며, 이 시스템의 타당성을 입증하기 위하여 시스템 구성에 따른 모델링과 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 실시하였다. 이 결과 차세대 전기자동차용으로 제시된 고주파 교류 전력분배에 의한 하이브리드형 추진력 시스템이 가능하며 운전특성도 우수함을 보여주었다.

  • The numerical model that can describe the ignition of the pseudospark discharge using hybrid fluid-particle method has been developed. The evolution process of the discharge has been divided into four phases along the potential distribution. After the plasma enters in the hollow cathode, the confining effect which is one of hollow cathode properties occurs and the electron current on anode rises rapidly. As the plasma expands successively, the sheath contracts and as the electric field in the sheath increases, the field-enhanced thermionic emission(Schottky emission) occurs. From numerical results, the physical mechanism that causes the rapid current rise in the ignition of the pseudospark discharge could be identified.

이종 병렬기계를 가진 2단계 혼합흐름생산시스템의 일정계획 (Scheduling Heuristics for a Two-Stage Hybrid Flowshop with Nonidentical Parallel Machines)

  • We consider two stage hybrid flowshop scheduling problem when there are two non-identical parallel machines at the first stage, and only one machine at the second stage. Several well-known sequence-first allocate-second heuristics are considered first. We then propose an allocate-first sequence-second heuristic to find minimum makespan schedule. The effectiveness of the proposed heuristic algorithm in finding a minimum makespan schedule is empirically evaluated by comparing with easily computable lower bound. The proposed heuristic algorithm as well as the existing heuristics are evaluated by simulation in four cases which have different processing time distribution, and it is found that the proposed algorithm is more effective in every case.

  • The hybrid step motor has found applications in a wide range of mechanical systems as a low cost, open-loop positioning device. The step motor provides good stiffness at rest against disturbing load influences, a combination of moderate speed fine resolution, high reliability and simplicity. In recent years, considerable competition has arisen over the technological issue of wheather the device should be applied as a 2-Phase or 5-Phase machine. In this paper, to compare two systems, we have atempted to derive the mathematical. model, and analysed operating detent torque with this model. The analysis shows that a fundamental component of the permeance distribution produces the average torque and that harmonic components produce the ripple torque.

  • In this paper, buckling analysis of hybrid functionally graded plates using a novel four variable refined plate theory is presented. In this theory the distribution of transverse shear deformation is parabolic across the thickness of the plate by satisfying the surface conditions. Therefore, it is unnecessary to use a shear correction factor. The variations of properties of the plate through the thickness are according to a symmetric sigmoid law (symmetric S-FGM). The principle virtual works is used herein to extract equilibrium equations. The analytical solution is determined using the Navier method for a simply supported rectangular plate subjected to axial forces. The precision of this theory is verified by comparing it with the various solutions available in the literature.

Multi Objective Vehicle and Drone Routing Problem with Time Window

  • In this paper, we study the multi-objectives vehicle and drone routing problem with time windows, MOVDRPTW for short, which is defined in an urban delivery network. We consider the dual modal delivery system consisting of drones and vehicles. Drones are used as a complement to the vehicle and operate in a point to point manner between the depot and the customer. Customers make various requests. They prefer to receive delivery services within the predetermined time range and some customers require fast delivery. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effectiveness of the delivery strategy of using drones and vehicles together with a multi-objective measures. As experiment datasets, we use the instances generated based on actual courier delivery data. We propose a hybrid multi-objective evolutionary algorithm for solving MOVDRPTW. Our results confirm that the vehicle-drone mixed strategy has 30% cost advantage over vehicle only strategy.

  • Efforts are being made to replace ship diesel engines with electric propulsion motors in response to emission regulations. In particular, in the case of short-range small ships, research is being conducted to replace polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) with power sources. However, PEMFC has problems such as slow dynamic response characteristics and reduced durability at high temperatures. To solve this problem, a high-precision ship model was developed with power distribution and thermal management strategies applied, and through this, the required power, heat, and power characteristics of the propulsion system according to the ship's speed profile were analyzed.

Interfacial stresses in porous PFGM-RC hybrid beam

  • This paper presents a careful theoretical investigation into interfacial stresses in RC beams strengthened with externally bonded imperfect FGM plate. In this study, an original model is presented to predict and to determine the stresses concentration at the imperfect FGM end, with the new theory analysis approach. Stress distributions, depending on an inhomogeneity constant, were calculated and presented in forms. It is shown that both the shear and normal stresses at the interface are influenced by the material and geometry parameters of the composite beam, and it is shown that the inhomogeneities play an important role in the distribution of interfacial stresses. The theoretical predictions are compared with other existing solutions. The numerical resolution was finalized by taking into account the physical and geometric properties of materials that may play an important role in reducing the stress values. This research is helpful for the understanding on mechanical behaviour of the interface and design of the PFGM-RC hybrid structures.

통합 하이브리드시스템의 압력강하 거동 및 바이오필터 담체의 미생물 population 분포 (Pressure Drop of Integrated Hybrid System and Microbe-population Distribution of Biofilter-media)

  • 교대로 운전되는 광촉매반응기 공정, 및 바이오필터 공정(전통적 바이오필터(L 반응기)와 두 개의 유닛(unit)을 가지는 개선된 바이오필터시스템(R 반응기))로 구성된 통합처리시스템에서, 에탄올과 황화수소를 동시 함유한 폐가스 처리를 수행하는데 발생하는 공정 당 압력강하(△p)와 바이오필터 공정의 미생물 population 분포를 관찰하였다. 교대로 운전되는 광촉매 반응기의 △p는, 바이오필터의 △p와 비교할 때에 무시할 정도로 작게 관찰되었다. L 반응기의 △p는, 통합처리시스템의 운전 중에 계속 증가하여 4.0~5.0 mmH2O (i.e., 5.0~6.25 mmH2O/m)로 증가하였다. 한편 R 반응기의 경우에서는 L 반응기의 △p의 약 16~20% 이하인 작은 △p를 나타내었다. 본 연구에서 적용한 공극율이 큰 폐타이어 담체 등의 바이오필터 담체 및 R 반응기 설계의 적용이, 목재 칩(wood chip)과 목재 바크(wood bark)의 50 대 50인 혼합물을 바이오필터 담체로 사용한 전통적 바이오필터의 보고된 압력강하 값의 각각 37~50%와 40~53% 만큼 압력강하 저감에 공헌하였다고 분석되었다. 또한 본 연구의 R 반응기 운전에서 압력강하 값이, 공극율이 큰 화산석(scoria)과 compost를 75 대 25로 혼합한 복합 담체를 충전한 전통적 바이오필터의 보고된 압력강하 값보다 약 80%만큼 저감된 결과는 주로 R 반응기 설계의 적용에 기인하였다고 해석되었다. 한편, 통합처리시스템에서 바이오필터 담체의 microbial population 분포로서 L 반응기 및 R 반응기의 담체 내 미생물 콜로니 수 비교에서는 L 반응기가 제일 밑단에서 다른 윗 단의 콜로니 수보다 거의 두 배로 증가하였으나; R 반응기의 경우는 Rdn 반응기와 Rup 반응기 각각의 상단과 하단에서 고르게 분포하였고 L 반응기보다 콜로니 수가 평균적으로 약 50% 정도 더 컸다. 이러한 현상은 R 반응기의 상단과 하단의 함수율이 50-55%의 고른 분포를 보인 것에 기인하였다. 따라서 개선된 바이오필터시스템이 전통적 바이오필터보다 △p와 미생물 population 분포에서 더욱 우수한 특성을 보였다.
