SiC 하이브리드 모듈을 적용한 근거리용 7kW Inverter 동작 안정성에 대한 연구 (Research on operation stability of 7kW Inverter for short distance vehicle using SiC Hybrid module)

  • 본 논문은 SiC Hybrid module를 적용한 7kW 인버터의 동작 안정성에 관한 것으로 손실 방정식과 시뮬레이션 결과를 비교하여 시뮬레이션 결과의 유효성을 검증하였으며, 시뮬레이션을 통해 Si module과 SiC Hybrid module의 스위치 손실과 다이오드 손실을 비교하였다. 손실 방정식 계산을 통하여 SiC Hybrid module의 도통 손실은 168W, 스위칭 손실은 9.3W, 다이오드 손실은 10.5nW의 결과를 나타내었으며, 시뮬레이션 결과와 비교하였을 때 유사한 값을 나타내었다. 이를 바탕으로 Si module과 SiC Hybrid module의 시뮬레이션 결과 값 비교 결과, Si module의 총 소자 손실값은 246.2W, SiC Hybrid module의 총 소자 손실 값은 189.9W를 나타내었으며, 손실 차이 값은 56.3W로써 약 0.8W의 효율 차이를 보였다. 이로 인하여 SiC SBD의 Reverse recovery 특성을 검증하였다. 또한 고온 포화상태에서 SiC Hybrid module 및 Si module의 안정성을 확인하기 위하여 온도 포화 테스트를 진행하였으며, Si module의 경우, 출력전력 4kW에서 동작을 멈추었고, SiC Hybrid module은 7kW까지 동작을 확인하였다. 이를 바탕으로, 효율 그래프와 온도 그래프를 제시하였으며, Si module은 4kW까지, SiC Hybrid module은 7kW까지 그래프로 나타내었다.

  • This paper deals with the design and characteristic analysis of electro-magnet/permanent-magnet (EM-PM) hybrid levitation and propulsion device for high-speed magnetically levitated (maglev) vehicle. The machine requires PMs with high coercive force in order to levitate the vehicle by only PMs, and propulsion force is supplied by long-stator linear synchronous motor (LSM). The advantages of this configuration are an increasing levitation airgap length and decreasing total weight of the vehicle, because of the zero-power levitation control. Several design considerations such as machine structure, manufacturing, and control strategy are described. Moreover, the levitation and propulsion device for high-speed maglev vehicle has been designed and analyzed usign the electromagnetic circuit and FE analysis. In order to verify the design scheme and feasibility of maglev application, 3-DOF static force test set is implemented and tested. The obtained experimental data using the static tester shows the validity of the design and analysis approaches.

Carbon nanotube/silicon hybrid heterojunctions for photovoltaic devices

  • The significant growth of the Si photovoltaic industry has been so far limited due to the high cost of the Si photovoltaic system. In this regard, the most expensive factors are the intrinsic cost of silicon material and the Si solar cell fabrication processes. Conventional Si solar cells have p-n junctions inside for an efficient extraction of light-generated charge carriers. However, the p-n junction is normally formed through very expensive processes requiring very high temperature (${\sim}1000^{\circ}C$). Therefore, several systems are currently under study to form heterojunctions at low temperatures. Among them, carbon nanotube (CNT)/Si hybrid solar cells are very promising, with power conversion efficiency up to 15%. In these cells, the p-type Si layer is replaced by a semitransparent CNT film deposited at room temperature on the n-doped Si wafer, thus giving rise to an overall reduction of the total Si thickness and to the fabrication of a device with cheaper methods at low temperatures. In particular, the CNT film coating the Si wafer acts as a conductive electrode for charge carrier collection and establishes a built-in voltage for separating photocarriers. Moreover, due to the CNT film optical semitransparency, most of the incoming light is absorbed in Si; thus the efficiency of the CNT/Si device is in principle comparable to that of a conventional Si one. In this paper an overview of several factors at the basis of this device operation and of the suggested improvements to its architecture is given. In addition, still open physical/technological issues are also addressed.

부유식 파력-해상풍력 복합발전 플랫폼의 운동저감장치 개념설계 (Conceptual Design of Motion Reduction Device for Floating Wave-Offshore Wind Hybrid Power Generation Platform)

  • The present study deals with the conceptual design of a motion reduction device for a floating wave-offshore wind hybrid power generation platform. A damping plate attached to the bottom of a column of a large semi-submersible is introduced to reduce the motion of the platform. Performance analyses on various shapes and configurations of damping plates were performed using the potential flow solver, and the appropriate configuration and size of the damping plate were selected based on the numerical results. In order to see the effect of viscous damping, a small scale model test was performed in a 2D wave flume. The performances of five different damping plates were measured and discussed based on the results of free decay tests and regular wave tests.

Hybrid Sensor Calibration Scheme for Mobile Crowdsensing-Based City-Scale Environmental Measurements

  • In this paper, we propose a hybrid sensor calibration scheme for mobile crowdsensing applications. As the number of newly produced mobile devices containing embedded sensors continues to rise, the potential to use mobile devices as a sensor data source increases. However, because mobile device sensors are generally of a lower performance and cost than dedicated sensors, sensor calibration is crucial. To enable more accurate measurements of natural phenomena through the use of mobile device sensors, we propose a hybrid sensor calibration scheme for such sensors; the scheme makes use of mobile device sensors and existing sensing infrastructure, such as weather stations, to obtain dense data. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme supports low mean square errors. As a practical application of our proposed scheme, we built a temperature map of a city using six mobile phone sensors and six reference sensors. Thanks to the mobility of the sensors and the proposed scheme, our map presents more detailed information than infrastructure-based measurements.

  • This paper deals with the lightning surge protective devices with combination of varistor and LC filter. UP to now, the varistor alone were used as overvoltage protection devices fer the AC power mains. In this work, in order to improve the cutoff performance of surge protective device, the hybrid circuit surge protective device for an AC single phase mains was designed and investigated. The first stage of hybrid circuit is to remove most of any large surge energy and protect the second stage components. The purpose of the second is to protect the load and increase the cutoff capacity of surge protective devices. Also LC filter attenuates the remnant that travels downstream from the first stage component and the high frequency noises. As a consequence, it was found that the proposed hybrid surge protective device for AC power mains has a variety of advantages such as low and tight clamping voltage, high frequency noise reduction and large cutoff capacity.

  • 복합 위상천이기 구성은 배열안테나를 부 배열로 구성한 후, 부 배열 내부에는 일반적인 위상천이기를 사용하고, 부 배열 단위에는 실시간 지연 위상천이기를 사용하는 구성이다. 상기 구성은 빔 편이 현상을 효율적으로 개선할 수 있으나, 배열 구성이 적절하지 않으면 위상배열안테나 주 빔의 주파수 별 이득 편차가 발생하게 된다. 이와 같은 문제를 해소하기 위해 시스템 설계 주요 요구사항인 비 대역폭, 최대 빔 조향 각도 그리고 최대 이득 편차 제한 기준을 기반으로 효율적인 배열을 구성할 수 있는 간소화된 수식을 제시하였다.

  • Performance and efficiency of hybrid (hydraulic-mechanical) pick-up device of deep sea manganese nodules collector are very sensitive to altitude and altitude of pick-up head relative to undulating seafloor. For this reason, motion control of pick-up head relative to the changing deep sea topography and other disturbances is of particular importance in design of pick-up device. The concept of design axiom is applied to a pick-up device of hybrid type. Kinematic analysis conducted in absolute Cartesian coordinates gives position, velocity, and acceleration of the hydraulic cylinders which enable the pick-up head to keep the preset optimal distance from seafloor. Inverse dynamic analysis provides the driving forces of hydraulic cylinders and the reaction forces at each joint. Design sensitivity analysis is performed in order to investigate the effects of possible design variables on the change of the maximum strokes of hydraulic cylinders. The direct differentiation method is used to obtain the design sensitivity coefficients.

  • Active hybrid solid state transformer(AHSST) is newly emerging as a device to maintan the power quality of power distribution. AHSST has a simple structure in which a power electronics device is connected in series to a conventional distribution transformer. The connected power electronics device maintains the constant voltage regardless of the primary grid voltage fluctuation through the secondary voltage control to improve the power quality. It also has a simple structure compare to conventional solid state transformer system and can achieve the same performance with fractionally-rated converter. This paper proposes an multi-level converter based on AHSST system that has a simpler control method and wider voltage control range than the conventional AHSST. The proposed system is verified by simulations.

1D-CNN-LSTM Hybrid-Model-Based Pet Behavior Recognition through Wearable Sensor Data Augmentation

  • The number of healthcare products available for pets has increased in recent times, which has prompted active research into wearable devices for pets. However, the data collected through such devices are limited by outliers and missing values owing to the anomalous and irregular characteristics of pets. Hence, we propose pet behavior recognition based on a hybrid one-dimensional convolutional neural network (CNN) and long short- term memory (LSTM) model using pet wearable devices. An Arduino-based pet wearable device was first fabricated to collect data for behavior recognition, where gyroscope and accelerometer values were collected using the device. Then, data augmentation was performed after replacing any missing values and outliers via preprocessing. At this time, the behaviors were classified into five types. To prevent bias from specific actions in the data augmentation, the number of datasets was compared and balanced, and CNN-LSTM-based deep learning was performed. The five subdivided behaviors and overall performance were then evaluated, and the overall accuracy of behavior recognition was found to be about 88.76%.
