Study on the Hybrid Passivation layer of OLEDs using the Organic/Inorganic Thin Film (유/무기 복합 박막을 이용한 유기발광 소자의 보호층에 관한 연구)

  • The hybrid thin-film (HTF) passivation layer composed of the Ultra Violet (UV) curable acrylate layer and MS-31 (MgO:$SiO_2$=3:1wt%) layer was adopted in organic light emitting device (OLEO) to protect organic light emitting materials from penetrations of oxygen and water vapors. The results showed that the HTF layer possessed a very low WVTR value of lower than $0.007gm/m^{2+}day$ at $37.8^{\circ}C$ and 100% RH. This value was within the limited range of the sensitivity of WVTR measurements. And the lifetime of the HTF passivated device became almost three times longer than that of the bare device. The HTF on the OLEO was found to be very effective in protect what from the penetrations of oxygen and moisture.

  • Diesel locomotive operates the generator with the power from the diesel engine, and it consists of the typical serial-hybrid system which operates the train wheels by converting its generated electric energy into the torque of DC (or AC) motor. However, the technology of locomotives is only focused on trains' controlling power generation mechanism. Hence, it is a current issue that the efficiency of its engine and its generator is relatively lower than that of auto vehicles'. Particularly, since there are no proper equipment to measure the amount of fuel which is essentially necessary for the efficient use of fuel, it is not easy to confirm the instant amount of fuel use as well as the exact average fuel consumption per an hour. Due to those difficulties, it is urgent to develop the device that measures the fuel consumption. Plus, this use of the developed measuring device allows the various and useful analysis relating to the fuel consumption, and this could lead to establishing the efficient driving pattern regarding to fuel saving. This device consists of two flux (fuel level) measuring censors, MCU for calculating the measured values, the information recorder for saving measured values, and the display device for indicating the fuel amount consumed during driving.

  • Performance and efficiency of deep seabed collector is a primary factor for feasibility of commercial deep ocean mining. The efficiency of manganese nodules collector depends on vehicle mobility relative to undulating seafloor and is attributed pickup head to keep altitude and elevation of it against seafloor. For this reason, motion control of pickup head relative to the changing deep-sea topography and other disturbances is of particular importance in design of pickup device. The concept of design axiom is applied to a pickup device of hybrid type in order to evaluate the concept design. Kinematic analysis conducted in absolute Cartesian coordinates gives position, velocity, and acceleration of the hydraulic cylinders which enable the pickup head to keep the preset optimal distance from seafloor. Inverse dynamic analysis provides the driving forces of hydraulic cylinders and the reaction forces at each joint. Design sensitivity analysis is performed in order to investigate the effects of possible design variables on the change of the maximum strokes of hydraulic cylinders. The direct differentiation method is used to obtain the design sensitivity coefficients.

Smart Multiple-Tap System Based on WiFi for reduction of Standby-Power

  • In this paper, we proposed a smart multiple-tap system which a remote user with smartphone can control multiple-taps in order to reduce standby-power consumption more conveniently when plugged-in electric appliances are turned-off. Recently, several researches of smart multiple-tap using IoT technology has reported. However, in these researches, an additional device like as a server computer is necessary, or multiple-taps could be only remotely controlled by smartphone and not directly controlled by on/off switch. The proposed smart multiple-tap system does not need any additional device only if it has a WiFi router, and it can be used for user as well as remote control using smartphone application and physically direct control using contact switches like existing multiple-taps. Our approach is to develop a smart multiple-tap device capable of WiFi communication can each serve as a server or a client, and can be operated by the hybrid switch combining the on/off contact switch and the relay switch. We implemented the prototype of the proposed system composed of the smart multiple-tap device and the smartphone application, and the test of the prototype validates the proposed system.

  • This paper describes the surge protective device combined with varistor and LC low pass filter on AC power circuits. Up to now varistors alone have been used as a surge protective device on AC power circuits, but it gives negative effects on the equipments to be protected due to the steep rise and high remnant voltage. Therefore in this work, for the purpose of improving the cutoff performance of surge protective device on AC power circuits, the hybrid-type surge protective device with varistor and LC filter was designed and prepared. And the experiments for operational characteristics and clamping performance of the surge protective device were carried out with an 1.2/50[$\mu$s] impulse generator. As a result, the proposed surge protective device with the combination of varistors and LC filter can limit the surge voltage to lower value and reduce the value of dV /dt to very small values. Also the attenuation of high-frequency voltages across the output port is effectively provided by LC filter. Therefore this result may be all the more helpful avoiding both damage and upset of electronic systems.

  • Device-to-Device (D2D) communication underlaying cellular networks is a promising add-on component for future radio communication systems. It provides more access opportunities for local device pairs and enhances system throughput (ST), especially when mobile relays (MR) are further enabled to facilitate D2D links when the channel condition of their desired links is unfavorable. However, mutual interference is inevitable due to spectral reuse, and moreover, selecting a suitable transmission mode to benefit the correlated resource allocation (RA) is another difficult problem. We aim to optimize ST of the hybrid system via joint consideration of mode selection (MS) and RA, which includes admission control (AC), power control (PC), channel assignment (CA) and relay selection (RS). However, the original problem is generally NP-hard; therefore, we decompose it into two parts where a hierarchical structure exists: (i) PC is mode-dependent, but its optimality can be perfectly addressed for any given mode with additional AC design to achieve individual quality-of-service requirements. (ii) Based on that optimality, the joint design of MS, CA and RS can be viewed from the graph perspective and transferred into the maximum weighted independent set problem, which is then approximated by our greedy algorithm in polynomial-time. Thanks to the numerical results, we elucidate the efficacy of our mechanism and observe a resulting gain in MR-aided D2D communication.

  • The piezoelectric-based hydraulic actuator is a hybrid device consisting of a hydraulic pump driven by piezoelectric stacks that is coupled to a conventional hydraulic cylinder via a set of fast-acting valves. Nowadays, such hybrid actuators are being researched and developed actively in many developed countries by requirement of high performance and compact flight system. In this research, operation principle and performance testing of the hybrid actuator were introduced. Output velocities have been measured in both loaded case and not loaded case and the blocking force also has been measured in external loaded case. The maximum velocity of the actuator is 53.3 mm/s, blocking force is 240.7 N and corresponding power output is 3.2 W.

  • Hybrid powertrain systems have been developed to improve the fuel efficiency of internal combustion engines. In the case of a parallel hybrid powertrain system, an engine and a motor are directly coupled. Because of the hardware configuration of the parallel hybrid system, friction and the pumping losses of internal combustion engines always exists. Such losses are the primary factors that result in the deterioration of fuel efficiency in the parallel-type hybrid powertrain system. In particular, the engine operates as a power consumption device during the fuel-cut condition. In order to improve the fuel efficiency for the parallel-type hybrid system, cylinder deactivation (CDA) technology was developed. Cylinder deactivation technology can improve fuel efficiency by reducing pumping losses during the fuel-cut driving condition. In a CDA engine, there are two operating modes: a CDA mode and an SI mode according to the vehicle operating condition. However, during the mode change from CDA to SI, a serious fluctuation of the air-fuel ratio can occur without adequate control. In this study, an air-fuel ratio control algorithm during the mode transition from CDA to SI was proposed. The control algorithm was developed based on the mean value CDA engine model. Finally, the performance of the control algorithm was validated by various engine experiments.

  • Dynamometer is a device for testing the performance of the brake and it is composed of a test zone, the mechanical inertia zone, the electric motor and the control zone. Hybrid dynamometer is a way to compensate for the loss of mechanical inertia in accordance with the brake operation by using an electric motor to reduce the size of the mechanical inertia with the advantage that can be tested in the relatively small size of the mechanical inertia and low cost. In this paper, design the proper size of hybrid dynamometer in the laboratory level with the space constraints, analysed the effect of critical parameter on the braking performance of hybrid dynamometer such as changing the friction coefficient. With this study, could get the results of guideline to judge the poor friction material by measuring the torque of the electric motor to compensate the energy loss due to a reduced mechanical inertia.

  • Recently, Interest in power the quality was increased because of increasing the use of sensitive load equipment into an electrical disturbance such as computer, Electricity, Electronics, Telecommunications and semiconductor device. In addition, To enhance power quality, the instantaneous voltage drop occurred in precision load equipment is a need for proper compensation. In order to solve the problem, The developed dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) using an electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) has been applied. In this paper, We will do study to apply hybrid capacitors that have high energy density to the same size compared to the EDLC to DVR. Also, As a emergency luminaires of emergency power supply that we can support more than 10 years of life was confirmed the applicability of hybrid capacitor.
