PEMFC(proton exchange membrane fuel cell) is most applicable to automobile in various types of fuel cell. However, to improve system dynamics and logn term Performance fuel cell is supported by auxiliary power unit forming hybrid system. The operating strategy of hybrid system influences on efficiency and stability. In this paper the proper strategies are compared each other considering power distribution and stable system operation. The chosen strategy is simulated by MATLAB simulink to forecast realization of fuel cell hybrid vehicle

As part of the green growth, The Green Car has attracted wide attention. Types of the Green Car are Electric Vehicle, Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle, Hybrid Electric Vehicle, Fuel Cell Vehicle and Clean Diesel Vehicle. Of these, The electric vehicle is equipped with the BDU(Battery Disconnecting Unit). BDU is supplying stable battery power and blocking it to protect electrical system of the electric vehicle. The BDU consists of electric components such as current sensor, fuse and pre-charge resistor. These must pass Voltage withstand test, Salt mist test, Thermal shock test, Vibration test and Short-circuit test commonly to verify reliability of the electric components. In addition, The current sensor should be verified whether normal operation. The breaking capacity of fuse should be verified. The durability of pre-charge resistor should be verified by supplying battery power and blocking it repeatedly. The reliability of BDU as well as the electric vehicle is secured by verifying the reliability of electric components. In addition, It will contribute to the acceleration and promotion of Green Car Technology.
Real and reactive power flows on a transmission line interact inherently. This situation degrades power flow controller performance when independent real and reactive power flow regulation is required. In this study, a quasi multi-pulse interline power flow controller (IPFC), consisting of eight six-pulse voltage source converters (VSC) switched at the fundamental frequency is proposed to control real and reactive power flows dynamically on a transmission line in response to a sequence of set-point changes formed by unit-step reference values. It is shown that the proposed hybrid fuzzy-PI commanded IPFC shows better decoupling performance than the parameter optimized PI controllers with analytically calculated feed-forward gains for decoupling. Comparative simulation studies are carried out on a 4-machine 4-bus test power system through a number of case studies. While only the fuzzy inference of the proposed control scheme has been modeled in MATLAB, the power system, converter power circuit, control and calculation blocks have been simulated in PSCAD/EMTDC by interfacing these two packages on-line.
As the market of lithium secondary batteries moves from mobile IT devices to large-format electric vehicles or energy storage systems, the strengthened battery specifications such as long-term reliability longer than 10 years, pack-level safety and tough competitive price have been required. Moreover, even though high power properties should also be achieved for hybrid electric vehicles, it is not easy to measure accurate power values at various conditions. Because it is difficult to choose a proper measurement method and its experimental condition is more complex comparing to capacity measurement. In addition, the power values are very sensitive to power duration time, state-of-charge (SOC) of cells, cut-off voltages, and temperatures, whereas capacity values are not. In this paper, we introduce three kinds of power measurement methods, hybrid pulse power characterization (HPPC) suggested by US FreedomCar, so-called J-pulse by Japan electric vehicle association standards (JEVS) and constant power measurement, respectively. Moreover, with pouch-type unit cells for HEV, experimental power data are discussed in order to compare each power measurement.

This study proposes a hybrid marine power system combining dual-fuel generators, a fuel cell, and Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries (VRFB). Rigorous verification and validation of the dynamic modelling and integration of the system are conducted. A case study for the application of the hybrid propulsion system to a passenger ship is conducted to examine its time-variant behaviour. A comprehensive model of the reversible and irreversible capacity degradation of the VRFB stack unit is proposed and validated. The capacity retention of the VRFB stack is simulated by being integrated within the hybrid propulsion system. Reversible degradation of the VRFB stack is precisely predicted and rehabilitated based on the predefined operational schedule, while the irreversible portion is retained until the affected components are replaced. Consequently, the advantages of the VRFB system as an on-board ESS are demonstrated through the application of a hybrid propulsion system for liner shipping with fixed routes.
The 42V Mild Hybrid System has been released into market by Toyota for the first time in the world in 2001. The set-up employs an inverter unit to control the motor/generator (MG) electronically. The driving system called such as Toyota Mild Hybrid System (TMHS) has additional new functions to conventional internal combustion engines. When stopping vehicle, the engine stops promptly. When starting vehicle, by releasing the brake pedal MG starts the vehicle at the same time (EV-driving mode). When stepping on the accelerator pedal, or after a given period of time the engine firing occurs and the engine-driving mode starts. When running by motor, the power is supplied to the motor from 36V battery through the inverter. High outputs and instant responses are required for Inverter. At the same time, the compact volume is required to fit into the limited space of the engine room. The compact size and high output are also required to Power Capacitor used for this inverter. The power capacitors has been newly developed, shaped in "flat" type, suitably for the inverter. The points of developments on inverter and power capacitor are described in this paper.his paper.

This paper presents a modeling and a controller design for a hybrid wind turbine generator, especially with an operating mode of battery energy-storage system and a dumpload that contribute to the frequency control of the system while diesel-synchronous unit is not in operation. The proposed control scheme is based on a robust tracking controller, which takes an account of system uncertainties due to the wind flow and load variations. In order to provide robustness for system uncertainties, the range of operation is partitioned into three operating conditions as sub-models in the controller design. In the simulation study, the proposed robust tracking controller (RTC) is compared with the conventional proportional-integral (PI) controller. Simulation results show that the effectiveness of the RTC against disturbances caused by wind speed and load variation. Thus, better quality of the hybrid wind power system is achieved.
The diesel Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) for vehicle applications is a complex nonlinear system. For the purpose of this paper presents a dynamic average model of the whole system in an entirely physical way, which accounts for the non-ideal behavior of the diode rectifier, the nonlinear phenomena of generator-rectifier set in an elegant way, and also the dynamics of the dc load and diesel engine. Simulation results show the accuracy of the model. Based on the average model, a simple PI control scheme is proposed for the multivariable system, which includes the steps of model linearization, separate PI controller design with robust tuning rules, stability verification of the overall system by considering it as an uncertain one. Finally it is tested on a detailed switching model and good performances are shown for both set-point following and disturbance rejection.

In the future, hybrid power management systems using fuel cells (FCs) and batteries will be used as the driving power systems of ships. These systems consist of an FC, a converter, an inverter, and a battery. In general, an FC provides steady-state energy; a battery provides the dynamic energy in the start state of a ship for enabling a smooth operation, and provides or absorbs the peak or dynamic power when the load varies and the FC cannot respond immediately. The FC voltage range is very wide and depends on the load; Therefore, the FC cannot directly connect to the inverter. In this paper, we propose a power management strategy and design process involving a unidirectional converter, a bidirectional converter, and an inverter, considering the ship's operating conditions and the power conditions of the FC and the battery. The presented experimental results were verified through a simulation.
We investigated the properties of a hybrid type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL), which consists of a transformer with multiple secondary windings and resistive $YBa_2Cu_3O_7$ (YBCO) thin film stripes. The secondary windings of the transformer were coupled with each other, and a superconducting current limiting unit of YBCO stripes was connected to each of them as a switch. Simple connection in series of SFCL units tends to produce imbalance in power among the units due to slight differences in quench current. In current design, magnetic coupling between the SFCL units provides a solution to power dissipation imbalance, inducing simultaneous quench by current redistribution in the YBCO films.
