A framework for distributed analytical and hybrid simulations

  • A framework for multi-platform analytical and multi-component hybrid (testing-analysis) simulations is described in this paper and illustrated with several application examples. The framework allows the integration of various analytical platforms and geographically distributed experimental facilities into a comprehensive pseudo-dynamic hybrid simulation. The object-oriented architecture of the framework enables easy inclusion of new analysis platforms or experimental models, and the addition of a multitude of auxiliary components, such as data acquisition and camera control. Four application examples are given, namely; (i) multi-platform analysis of a bridge with soil and structural models, (ii) multiplatform, multi-resolution analysis of a high-rise building, (iii) three-site small scale frame hybrid simulation, and (iv) three-site large scale bridge hybrid simulation. These simulations serve as illustrative examples of collaborative research among geographically distributed researchers employing different analysis platforms and testing equipment. The versatility of the framework, ease of including additional modules and the wide application potential demonstrated in the paper provide a rich research environment for structural and geotechnical engineering.

하이브리드 기법을 이용한 고정된 해양구조물에 작용하는 파랑하중에 관한 수치 시뮬레이션 (Numerical Simulation of Wave Forces acting on Fixed Offshore Structures Using Hybrid Scheme)

  • In this paper, the diffraction problems for fixed offshore structures are solved using a hybrid scheme. In this hybrid scheme, potential-based solutions and the Navier-Stokes-based finite volume method (FVM) with a volume-of-fluid (VOF) method are combined. We introduce a buffer zone for efficient wave-making and damping. In this buffer zone, the near field solution from FVM-VOF is gradually changed to Stokes' 2nd order wave solutions. Three different models, including the truncated cylinder, sphere, and wigleyIII model, are numerically investigated in regular waves with a wave steepness of 1/30. The efficiency and accuracy of the hybrid scheme are numerically validated from results using different domain sizes and buffer zones. The wave exciting forces from the FVM-VOF simulations are compared with experiments and potential-based solutions from the higher-order boundary element method (HOBEM). This comparison shows good agreement between the hybrid scheme and potential-based solutions.

NOx제거용 MnOx-TiO2 계 저온형SCR 촉매의 Mn전구체에 따른 영향 (Effects of Manganese Precursors on MnOx/TiO2 for Low-Temperature SCR of NOx)

  • The effects of various manganese precursors for the low-temperature selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of $NO_x$ were investigated in terms of structural, morphological, and physico-chemical analyses. $MnO_x/TiO_2$ catalysts were prepared from three different precursors, manganese nitrate, manganese acetate(II), and manganese acetate(III), by the sol-gel method. The manganese acetate(III)-$MnO_x/TiO_2$ catalyst tended to suppress the phase transition from the anatase structure to the rutile or the brookite after calcination at $500^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. It also had a high specific surface area, which was caused by a smaller particle size and more uniform distribution than the others. The change of catalytic acid sites was confirmed by Raman and FT-IR spectroscopy and the manganese acetate(III)-$MnO_x/TiO_2$ had the strongest Lewis acid sites among them. The highest de-NOx efficiency and structural stability were achieved by using the manganese cetate(III) as a precursor, because of its high specific surface area, a large amount of anatase $TiO_2$, and the strong catalytic acidity.

한국 대학생의 행복감 개념분석 (Concept Analysis of Happiness on Korean university students using Hybrid Model)

  • 본 연구는 한국 대학생의 행복감의 개념을 정립하고 정의하기 위해 시행되었다. 연구 분석 방법은 Schwartz-Barcott와 Kim의 혼종 모형(Hybrid model)을 이용하였으며, 자료 수집은 2018년 6월부터 2018년 7월까지 13명의 대상자와 대학생의 행복감과 관련된 문헌으로부터 수집하였다. 본 연구 분석 결과, 한국 대학생의 행복감은 4개의 차원과 8개의 속성으로 도출되었다. 결과적으로 한국 대학생의 행복감에 정의는 다음과 같다. 한국 대학생의 행복감은 (i) 현 상황을 있는 그대로 받아들이며 만족하는 개인의 주관적 만족감, (ii) 사회 경제적 요인과 같은 개인의 객관적 만족감, (iii) 꿈을 향해 나아가기 위한 목표의 성취감, (iv) 미래에 대한 긍정적 인지를 의미한다. 또한 (v) 의미 있는 타인으로부터의 지지를 통한 관계 만족감, (vi) 자신과 의미 있는 타인의 신체 정신적 안위감, (vii) 일상생활의 만족감, (viii) 대학생활의 만족감을 의미한다. 본 연구는 한국 대학생의 행복감의 개념을 정립함으로 한국 대학생의 부정적 정서를 감소시킬 수 있는 전략에 실제인 밑거름이 될 수 있는 자료를 제공했다는데 의의가 있다. 본 연구를 기초로 하여 한국 대학생의 행복감을 증진시키기 위한 프로그램 개발을 제안한다.

Analytical and numerical studies on hollow core slabs strengthened with hybrid FRP and overlay techniques

  • The objective of this study is to understand the behaviour of hollow core slabs strengthened with FRP and hybrid techniques through numerical and analytical studies. Different strengthening techniques considered in this study are (i) External Bonding (EB) of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) laminates, (ii) Near Surface Mounting (NSM) of CFRP laminates, (iii) Bonded Overlay (BO) using concrete layer, and (iv) hybrid strengthening which is a combination of bonded overlay and NSM or EB. In the numerical studies, three-dimensional Finite Element (FE) models of hollow core slabs were developed considering material and geometrical nonlinearities, and a phased nonlinear analysis was carried out. The analytical calculations were carried out using Response-2000 program which is based on Modified Compression Field Theory (MCFT). Both the numerical and analytical models predicted the behaviour in agreement with experimental results. Parametric studies indicated that increase in the bonded overlay thickness increases the peak load capacity without reducing the displacement ductility. The increase in FRP strengthening ratio increased the capacity but reduced the displacement ductility. The hybrid strengthening technique was found to increase the capacity of the hollow core slabs by more than 100% without compromise in ductility when compared to their individual strengthening schemes.

  • Described in this paper is an optimal driving control algorithm which focused on the improvement of fuel economy and the minimization of pollutant emissions in the parallel type hybrid drivertrain system for transit bus. For the energy balance among components such as engine, induction machine and buttery, the algorithm for power split ration determine is proposed. When it is implemented in the hybrid electric control unit(HECU) , using the sub-optimal method and the approximate technique , it is possible to save the memory , to shorten the calculation time, and to achieve the efficient driving actually. A Shift strategy for automated manual transmission is the other side of the driving control algorithm. It enables to select the optimal gear by using several shift maps which were predefined from the proposed method in this paper, As a results of driving simulation, it is proved that these algorithms make the hybrid drivetrain system to reduce fuel consumption and emissions considerably and to have the ability to the efficient use of battery.

변형률-수명 평가기법을 이용한 Al/CFRP 하이브리드 적층 복합재의 피로수명 측정 (The Estimation of Fatigue Life for Al/CFRP Hybrid Laminated Composites using the Strain-Life Method)

  • Hybrid laminated Al/carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) composites are attracting considerable attention from industries such as aerospace and automobiles owing to their excellent specific strength and specific rigidity. However, when this material is used to fabricate high-pressure fuel storage containers subjected to repeated fatigue loads, fatigue life evaluation for the working load is regulated as an important criterion for operational safety and ease of maintenance. Among the existing evaluation methods for these vessels, the burst test and the hydraulic repeat test require expensive facilities. Thus, the present study aims to develop an improved fatigue life test for Al/CFRP laminated hybrid composites. The test specimen was manufactured using a curved mold considering the shape of a type III high-pressure storage container. The strain-life method was used for fatigue life evaluation, and the life was predicted based on the transition life. The results indicate that the more complex the CFRP stacking sequence, the longer is the transition life. This test method is expected to be useful for ensuring the fatigue safety and economy of hybrid laminate composites.

실제 혼합염색폐수의 유동상 시스템을 활용한 미생물처리와 하이브리드 재순환시스템처리 (Treatment of an Authentic Textile-dyeing Wastewater Utilizing a Fluidized Biofilter and Hybrid Recirculating System Composed of the Fluidized Biofilter and a UV/photocatalytic Reactor)

  • D염색공단의 폴리에스테르 알카리 감량폐수가 혼합된 실제 혼합염색폐수를 처리하기 위하여 Pseudomonas sp. 및 Bacillus cereus/thuringiensis를 고정한 폐타이어담체를 충전한 유동상 바이오필터를 운전하였다. 또한 유동상 바이오필터와 450 W의 UV/광촉매반응기를 결합한 하이브리드 재순환시스템을 구축하여 stage I에서는 UV/광촉매반응기를 바이패스하고 유동상 바이오필터만을, stage II-i, ii, iii에서는 하이브리드 재순환시스템을 각각 운전하였다. 유동상 바이오필터만을 사용하였을 경우에 $COD_{Cr}$ 및 색도 제거효율은 각각 75~80% 및 67%를 나타내었다. 한편 하이브리드 재순환시스템 운전에서 stage I에서 stage II-i로 전환되었을 때에 UV/광촉매산화공정의 $COD_{Cr}$ 제거율이 20~30%에 달하여 총 $COD_{Cr}$ 제거율은 75%로부터 80~85%까지 제고되었다. 한편 stage I에서 stage II-i로 전환되었을 때에 UV/광촉매산화공정의 색도제거율은 0~5%에 불과하였으나 총 색도제거율은 45~65%로부터 65~70%까지 제고되었다. 색도 제거에서는 $COD_{Cr}$ 제거와 다르게 UV/광촉매산화공정에 의하여 유동상 바이오필터의 효율이 제고되어서 하이브리드 재순환시스템의 시너지효과가 나타났다. 또한 색도제거에서는 $COD_{Cr}$ 제거와 다르게 반송비 증가에 따른 광촉매 비활성화가 관찰되지 않았고, $COD_{Cr}$ 제거에서 반송비 증가에 따른 광촉매 비활성화는 비가역적으로 관찰되었다.

비정상 상태 운전 시 정면충돌에서의 상해 분석 (Analysis of Driver Injuries Caused by Frontal Impact during Abnormal Driver Position)

  • Recently, the driver can be assisted by the advanced active safety devices such as ADAS from road traffic risks. With this system, driver and passenger may freed from can driving tasks or kept eyes on forward direction while on the road. Help from adoptive cruise control, auto parking and newly develped automated driving vehicles technologies, the driver positions will vary significantly from the current standard driver position during the travel time. On this hypothesis, the objective of this study is analyze the behavior and injuries of drivers in the event of frontal impact under these abnormal driver position. Based on the KNCAP frontal impact testing method, this simulation matrix was set-up with dummies of 5 th tile female Hybrid III dummy and 50 th tile male Hybrid III dummy. The small sedan type passenger car was modeled in this simulation. The series of simulation was performed to compare the injuries and behaviour of each dummy, varying the seating status and seat position of each dummy.
