NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) has offered consumers the vehicle safety information on their car since 1978. NHTSA believes that they contribute auto makers to develop safer vehicle for customers, which will result in even lower numbers of deaths and injuries resulting from motor vehicle crashes. NHTSA has been studied why people are still dying in frontal test despite of the use of many restraints system and they understand that current test does not reflect real world crash data such as oblique and corner impact test. As a result, NHTSA announced that a new test method will be introduced to use of enhanced biofidelic dummy and new crash avoidance technology evaluation from 2019. New and refined injury criteria will be applied to Head / Neck / Chest / Lower Leg. BrIC(Brain Injury Criterion)value in NHTSA test results using THOR dummy from 2014 to 2015 was average 0.91 and 1.24 in driver and passenger dummies. IIHS 64kph SOF test is the most likely to new frontal oblique test in an aspect of offset impact which is being studied by NHTSA. In this paper, we focused on head injury, especially brain injury - BrIC and conducted IIHS 64kph SOF (Small Offset Front) test with Hybrid III dummy to evaluate the injury for BrIC. Based on the test results, these data can be predicted BrIC level and US NCAP rating with current vehicle.

The critical subject of transverse crack detection in a rail head is treated in this paper. Conventional bulk wave ultrasonic techniques oftenfail because of shelling and other surface imperfections that shield the defects that lie below the shelling. A guided wave inspection technique is introduced here that can send ultrasonic energy along the rail under the shelling with a capability of finding the deleterious transverse crack defects. Dispersion curves are generated via a semi analytical finite element technique along with a hybrid guided wave finite element technique to explore the most suitable modes and frequencies for finding these defects. Sensor design and experimental feasibility experiments are also reported.

A model engine having a flat cylinder head and a piston face and an off-center intake valve is investigated in this analysis. Calculation domain is confined to the half of the cylinder with swirl free inlet velocity condition. Due to the absence of measured inlet conditions, the inlet flowrates during induction period are calculated from overall mass and energy conservation requirements. Finite difference equation for velocity and pressure were solved by modified SIMPLER algorithm, standard k-$\varepsilon$turbulence model and hybrid scheme. From the result of prediction, dimensionless velocity distribution and turbulence intensities are investigated at each crank angle.

Optically transparent and flexible electronic circuits and displays are attractive for next-generation visual technologies, including windshield displays, head-mounted displays, and transparent screen monitors. Here we report on the fabrication of transparent transistors and circuits based on the combination of nanoscopic dielectrics and organic, inorganic, or hybrid semiconductors. Furthermore, the first demonstration of a transparent and flexible AMOLED display driven solely by $In_2O_3$ nanowire transistors (NWTs) is reported. The display region exhibits an optical transmittance of ~35% and a green peak luminance of ${\sim}300\;cd/m^2$. These results indicate that NWT-based drive circuits are attractive for fully transparent display technologies.

This paper presents the design of a now controller for the read/write head of a hard disk drive. The general controller for seeking is the time-optimal control. However if we use only the time optimal control law, this could be vulnerable to chattering effect. To solve this problem, we propose a modified controller design algorithm in this paper. The proposed controller consists of bang-bang control for seeking and sliding-mode control for tracking. Moreover, to test the robustness and stability of control system, a bounded disturbance is selected to maximize a severity index. Simulation results show the superiority of the proposed controller through comparison with time optimal VSC(variable structure control).

Numerical analysis is carried out to identify the wall thinning effect inside the feed water valve. The finite volume method is applied to make analysis for the viscous flows. The commercial cock FLUENT is used for the simulation and the GAMBIT for the grid generation. The RNG $\kappa-\varepsilon$ model is used for the turbulence and the tet-hybrid grid is applied for the modeling. The velocity vector, the pressure contour, the change of residual along the iteration number, and the dynamic head are predicted for the hydrodynamic investigation.

Although a number of neck injuries are generated, the data which quantify the kinematic response of the human head and cervical spine in low-speed rear-end automobile collisions is very limited. On this problem, just few in vitro experimental research or some experimental research using dummy on neck injury by rear-end collision was conducted, thus systematic research is requested on full scale injury mechanism. An occupant model for the response of the occupant subject to rear-end collision using commercial dynamics package DADS was developed. Developed model shows more close agreement with the experimental data compared with the MADYMO simulation results for the cases of ${\delta}V=16$ kph in sled test. For the case of ${\delta}V=8$ kph and 33.5 kph with production seat, model also shows its reliable response compared with experimental results using Hybrid III and Hybird III with RID.
In this paper, the crush characteristics of a tilting train express (TTX) M-car design are evaluated with a head-on collision scenario. Its body shell is divided into three parts - front end, middle section, and rear end. For each part, crush-force relation is evaluated numerically through 3-dimensional shell element analysis with LS-DYNA. TTX's embody structure is a hybrid type structure made of steel and composite materials. Composite sandwich panels are modeled as layered shells whose layers have different material properties. And a damage material model is used to consider the effect of stiffness degradation during deformation. The crush characteristics obtained from these calculations will be used as material modeling data of full-rake collision analyses.

LRU(Least Recently Used), LFU(Least Frequently Used), 또는 이들을 복합한 Hybrid 정책을 사용한다.
Fundamental issues and general procedures of modeling the head disk interface (HDI) in order to provide design criteria for future ultra-low flying sliders are given. Intermittent contact and gaseous rarefaction effects are discussed using nonconventional kinetic theory. To illustrate the simulation results, we modeled IBM 3370 taper flat sliders and positive/negative "bow tie" sliders. Several alternative HDI concepts for future disk drives - viscoelastic bearings, a hybrid system, and contact recording - are also briefly discussed.
