  • It is expected that device-to-device (D2D) communication is allowed to underlay future cellular networks such as IMT-Advanced for spectrum efficiency. This article studies the mechanisms of D2D communication and interference avoidance when the D2D subsystem reuses uplink resources and downlink spectrums with a cellular system, respectively. We firstly propose an effective scheme to establish and maintain D2D communication. Moreover, a novel method to deal with the resource allocation and interference avoidance issues by utilizing the network peculiarity of a hybrid network to share the uplink resource is proposed. Most research focuses on reusing the uplink spectrums, but how to share the downlink frequency bands is seldom addressed. To share the downlink spectrums and avoid the interference to the primary cellular devices, a labeled time slots based mechanism is proposed. Implementation details are described in a real cellular system and simulation results prove that satisfying performance can be achieved by using the proposed mechanisms.

  • Recently with the ever increasing growth of data communication, the need for security and privacy has become a necessity. The advent of wireless communication and other handheld devices like Personal Digital Assistants and smart cards have made the implementation of cryptosystems a major issue. The Cellular Automata(CA) can be programmed to implement hardware sharing between the encryption and decryption. In this paper, we give conditions for a linear hybrid cellular automata with 60, 102 or 204 to be a linear hybrid group cellular automata C. And we present the conditions which the complemented hybrid group cellular automata C' with complement vectors derived from C has maximum equal lengths in the state transition diagram of C' Also we analyze the relationship among cycles of C' These results generalize Mukhopadhyay's results.

  • In this paper, a new 3 dB branch line hybrid using asymmetric spiral-shaped defected ground structure(DGS) microstrip is proposed. The proposed branch line hybrid suppresses the 2nd and the 3rd harmonic component effectively. Also a DGS $\lambda$/4 bias line that can suppress high frequency harmonics as well as low frequency intermodulation component is proposed. With the harmonic termination tuner using the proposed hybrid and the harmonic blocking bias line, the 2nd and the 3rd harmonic components of the fabricated amplifier that operated in IMT-2000 basestation transmitting band were suppressed up 25 dB and 27 dB, respectively. The proposed harmonic load-pull setup of amplifier is more easily accomplished with proposed circuits than the previous.

  • An improved method of moments using a hybrid Galerkin-interpolation technique for numerical analysis of electromagnetic wave scattering in the 3-dimensional space is presented in this paper. Basically, the EFIE(electric field integral equation) and RWG(Rao-Wilton-Glisson) basis function are used to compute a property of electromagnetic wave scattering. We propose a hybrid technique combining the existing Galerkin's method with the interpolation method to improve the efficiency of the numerical computation. Then, an index of relative distance of each cells was defined to distinguish the relatively far elements, which interpolation method can be applied. To verify the performance of the proposed technique, the analytical Mie-series solution was used to compute the theoretical RCS of a conducting sphere for the purpose of comparison. We also applied this hybrid technique to various scatterers such as trihedral/omni-directional corner-reflectors to analyze the radar backscattering properties.

  • In this paper, the unequal power divider based on CRLH (Composite Right/Left-Handed) transmission line with dual-band characteristic is proposed. They consist of dual-band branch line hybrid coupler, the connection between input and isolation port of hybrid coupler and ${\lambda}/4$ impedance transformer. When the transmission line between input and isolation port of hybrid coupler is asymmetrical connected, the divider is obtained the output results of the equal phase and unequal power dividing ratio. The simulation results of the divider represent the power ratio of 0 dB ~ 20 dB. To validate a function of divider, the hybrid coupler and transformer with 880 MHz and 1850 MHz is implemented. As a result, the proposed unequal divider obtains the power ratio of 3.2 dB ~ 8.8 dB at 880 MHz and 2.5 dB ~ 14.0 dB at 1850 MHz.

  • In the next generation mobile communication systems, hybrid massive multiple-input multiple output (MIMO) can be used to highly improve an achievable rate without increasing the number of RF chains. Recently, successive-interference-cancellation (SIC) based hybrid precoder design scheme was proposed to reduce the complexity. However, since this scheme uses simple diagonal matrix for baseband precoding, it cannot solve an interference problem between the transmitted streams. Also, there is a limitation for improving the data rate because of the use of one phase shifter for analog precoding. To solve these problems, in this paper we propose a digital precoding based on the SVD of the effective channel and an analog precoding using two phase shifters. Through simulation, we show that the proposed scheme has better achievable rate and SINR performances than the conventional one.

  • In this study, we developed a reduced 94 GHz hybrid ring coupler on a GaAs substrate in order to demonstrate the possibility of the integration of various passive components and MMICs in the millimeter-wave range. To reduce the size of the hybrid ring coupler, we used multiple open stubs on the inside of the ring structure. The chip size of the reduced hybrid ring coupler with multiple open stubs was decreased by 62% compared with the area of the hybrid ring coupler without open stubs. Performance in terms of the loss, isolation, and phase difference characteristics exhibited no significant change after the use of the multiple open stubs on the inside of the ring structure. The reduced hybrid ring coupler showed excellent coupling loss of $3.87{\pm}0.33dB$ and transmission loss of $3.77{\pm}0.72dB$ in the measured frequency range of 90-100 GHz. The isolation and reflection were -48 dB and -32 dB at 94 GHz, respectively. The phase differences between two output ports were $180^{\circ}{\pm}1^{\circ}$ at 94 GHz.

  • Reliability, availability, and cost have been the major concerns for photovoltaic hybrid systems since their beginning as primary sources for much critical applications like communication units and repeaters. This paper descnbes the performance of two hybrid systems, photovoltaic-battery, wind-turbine coupled with the public-grid (PVBWG) hybrid system and photovoltaic-battery, wind-turbine coupled With the diesel generator (PVBWD) hybrid system The systems are sized to power a typical 300W/48V de telecommunication load continuously throughout the year Such hybrid systems consist of subsystems, which in turn consist of components Failure of anyone of these components may cause failure of the entire system. The reliability and availability basics, and estimation procedure for the two proposals are introduced also in this paper. The PVBWG and PVBWD system configurations are shown with the relevant mean-time-between-faIlure (MTBF) and failure rate (${\lambda}$) of each component. The characteristics equations of the two systems are deduced as a function of operating hours and the percentage of sun and wind availabilities per day. The system probability failure as well as the reliability is estimated based on the fault tree analysis technique. The results show that, by using standard or normal components MTBF, the PVBWG is more reliable and the time of periodic maintenance period is more than one year especially in the rich sites of both sun and wind, but PVBWD competes else Also, in the first five years from the system installation, the system is quit reliable and may not require any maintenance. The results show also, as the sun and wind are available, as the system reliable and available.
