  • The objective of this study is to identify the significance of haying many children, their motive of childbirth, patterns of investment in human capital, and their expectations of their children. For this purpose, thirteen mothers of multi-child families have been interviewed in depth. Key findings of the study are as follows. First, the significance of children in many-child families varied. The fundamental features were: symbol of strong ties between God and humans, proud existence displayable to others about their level of happiness, and a means of defining their identity. Second, the typical motives of the majority of interviewees to have many children were "unplanned" but "natural accommodation and adaptation." Third, striking aspects, in terms of many-child families' investment in human capital were to consider many-child families to be a community in itself as a great environment of teaming and to have to deal with issues of limits and impartiality when allocating resources of a limited income and parents' time. Fourth, expectations of parents for their children were "normal growth" and mediocrity, and they cited intangible human assets as the greatest gift to their children. This study will hopefully offer a new analytical perspective to the growing concerns of low birth rates and excessive zeal of parents for their children's education, and thereby lay the groundwork of methodological approaches for resolving such social problems.

  • Understanding the condition of our nation's water resources, identifying what caused problems, and determining how to solve these problems are essential but difficult undertakings. The natural water cycle is itself intricate, and the addition of human activities increased this complexity. Consequently, answering the basic question "How clean and safe is our water?" is not easy. One way to present the condition of our water resources and the impacts of related human activities is to develop understandable measures, or indicators, that singly or in combination provide information on water quality. Managers and scientists can then use this information to develop effective solutions and make sound decisions to protect our water resources. It is important to note that environmental indicators can be used to measure a variety of phenomena. Indicators can present information on status or trends in the state of the environment, can measure pressures or stressors that degrade environmental quality, and can evaluate society's responses aimed at improving environmental conditions.

  • This research intends to make a model of space development in Korea as a sectoral innovation system. The main contents include a character analysis of the elements of three low levels of the space development innovation system, including governance (the main agent and cooperation relationship of which the center is a research institute supported by government), resources (financial resources and human resources), and the diffusion of research results. It is important to grasp the factors that bring about technological innovation of industrial sectors to produce technological innovation policy. Technology innovation policy should thus be formulated for specific, individual sectors, and not all sectors.

  • To attain the rich and comfortable human living, much development and economic growth are needed. But the radical development destroys natural environments or resources, and also the life environments are destroyed. How to maintain the balance between development and environments forms an important problem. Since 1955, a great deal of damage has been done to human being by the pollution of air, water or noise in Japan, for example, Minamata-byo (1956), arsenical poisoning by mkil (1955), Cd-I taiitai-byo (1955), asthma by air pollution, etc. Now, there are over 100,000 sick persons suffering from pollution in Japan. To prevent the pollution, the first act was made 1967, the kind of which were defined as follow:air, water, soil, noise, vibration ground subsidence, and bad smell. Laws on these were established 1970∼1981, and the environments here ave gradually being improved. The mentioned above gituation necsesitates the measuring or chemical analysis of pollution data, but the many cost is necessary to obtain such data. The special environment measuring certifier was needed and the Measurement Law was amended 1974. Some comment will be given of the present condition of environmental measuring certifier.

  • Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the causative agent of AIDS, still continues to spread rapidly in the world population, especially in Africa and Southeast Asia. At present, two kinds of therapeutic approaches are used for treatment of AIDS. One is to target HIV reverse transcriptase, which is responsible for the viral genome transcription. The other is to inhibit HIV pretense PR, which is essential for the processing of viral proteins. Drug combinations based on these approaches can reduce the blood virus to an undetectable level. However, a small amount of virus may lurk inside the immune cells in a dormant state. Another major obstacle of long-term treatment of the disease is remarkable mutation in HIV. Most of the clinical chemotherapeutic agents have one or more of these problems. High cost and harmful side-effects further reduced the desirability of these drugs. In the course our studies on development of anti-HIV agents from natural products, we investigated various crude drugs for their inhibitory activity against HIV-induced cytopathic effects (CPE) in culture cells, HIV-pretense (PR), HIV-reverse transcriptase (RT) including ribonuclease H (RNase H), and HIV integrase (INT). In the present paper, some inhibitory substances relating to the development of anti-HIV agents are reported.

  • The more the population grow, the severer the shortage of a basic human needs such as food, clean water, energy resources and so on. We had proved the possibility of utilizing deep ocean water as a environmental friendly resource to solve comprehensively above-mentioned problems for mankind based on observation and analysis of water quality. This study aims to evaluate feasibility of deep ocean water application, and establish multipurpose development and cascade utilization system of deep ocean water in the coastal zone of East sea to promote ocean development and fisheries industries.

  • COVID-19 has caused extensive human casualties with significant economic impacts around the globe, and has imposed new challenges on health systems worldwide. Over the past decade, SARS, Ebola, and Zika also led to significant concerns among the scientific community. Interestingly, the SARS and Zika epidemics ended before vaccine development; however, the scholarly community and the pharmaceutical companies responded very quickly at that time. Similarly, when the genetic sequence of SARS-CoV-2 was revealed, global vaccine companies and scientists have stepped forward to develop a vaccine, triggering a race toward vaccine development that the whole world is relying on. Similarly, an effective and safe vaccine could play a pivotal role in eradicating COVID-19. However, few important questions regarding SARS-CoV-2 vaccine development are explored in this review.

Therefore, it is important to analyze the relevant curriculum to identify the direction of fostering women's information security workforce. Therefore, in this paper, the education and training programs of the department for training women's information security workforce based in Seoul area of the Korean metropolitan area were analyzed. The main research objective of this paper is to review whether the education and training system, which consists of the department of women's information security human resources development, is in line with the direction of NIST's human resources development. The research focus was on what the women's information security department organizes courses with each security major and what task training is interested in. In addition, in this paper, we were confirmed that the curriculum of the relevant major is based on the NIST Human Resources Development Framework, and that the majors of the relevant universities have an education and training system that conforms to the relevant task. In conclusion, the related majors are judged to be focused on the development of certification evaluation personnel of convergence industry security or information security development personnel, and general cyber security personnel.
