  • Currently, there are various robot programming methods for articulated robots. Although each method has merits and drawbacks, they have commonly weak points for practical application, and especially the weak point can be even more vulnerable when the robot programming requires the subtle feelings of human being. This is because the movement of a human being is synthetic while the robot programming is analytic. Therefore, the present method of programming has limits in performing these kinds of subtle robot movement. In this paper, we propose a direct robot programming method, which generates robot programs based on the force/torque vector applied to a force/torque sensor by the human operator. The method reduces the effort required in the robot programming.

  • A helicopter is used in a variety of situations because of its usability. Its operation, needs human skill. The authors are working on automatization of human skill. Helicopter operation is one of such fields of practicing human skill. This is why the present paper deals with helicopter (model helicopter) operation. Full operation of a helicopter needs more complicated system in both aspects of software and hardware, and also requires more training for operation. From the purpose here that helicopter operation is for checking the applicability of the authors' idea for automatization based on experience, attitude regulation in hovering is the target. In the present paper, a human operator's operation is recorded as a time series of operation actions, and the record is reorganized as the correspondence between the helicopter's attitude and the proper operation action required in that particular situation.

  • While the operator's working environment employs the digital devices and technology which are not be fully digitalized due to its technical constraints, it has been changed to the hybrid environment in which digital and analog elements are combined. The hybrid environments need to study its characteristics and the guidelines for the proper design and evaluation purpose. This paper describes the characteristics and evaluation guidelines for hybrid environment through studying the characteristics of digital and analog environment based on the related human factor guidelines and literatures. The result of this paper would be applied for the human machine system such as main control room in nuclear power plant working under hybrid environment. And also, it may be applied for the evaluation of the generic human working environment which digital and analog elements are jointly used.

  • More than half of all incidents in large complex technological systems, particularly in nuclear power or aviation industries, were attributable in some way to human erroneous actions. These incidents were largely due to the human engineering deficiencies of man-machine interface (MMI). In nuclear industry, advanced computer-based MMI designs are emerging as part of new reactor designs. The impact of advanced MMI technology on the operator performance, and as a result, on plant safety should be thoroughly evaluated before such technology is actually adopted in nuclear power plants. This paper discusses the applicability of human reliability analysis (HRA) to support the design review process. Both the first-generation and the second-generation HRA methods are considered focusing on a couple of promising HRA methods, i.e., ATHEANA and CREAM, with the potential to assist the design review process.

  • In workplace design, an ergonomic solution should ensure low postural stress in the operator during his/her work. Stress caused by awkward working postures of the trunk, shoulders and legs can result in fatigue, discomfort, musculo-skeletal disorders and nerve entrapment syndromes. Since discomfort and musculo-skeletal disorders are both related to exposure to biomechanical load on the musculo-skeletal system, minimization of discomfort will contribute to reduction of the risk for musculo-skeletal disorders as well. Therefore, in this study, perceived discomfort on the human body joints was measured in the standing postures using the magnitude estimation in order to have a standardized numerical scale for joint discomfort. Nine healthy graduate students participated voluntarily in the laboratory study. The results revealed that perceived discomfort of all the joints increased as the joints deviated from neutral position. Especially, it showed drastic increment on perceived discomfort when deviation from neutral position in each human body joint increased from 75% to 100%. in terms of relative range of motion(R0M). On the basis of these experimental results, a preliminary ranking for assessment of stressfulness of non-neutral postures around the human body joints was suggested.

  • This study, as a part of integrated human-robot ergonomics, improves the robot motion control on the robot task in the TOES/WCS whose purpose is improving the teaching task constructed in the previous study. First, the updated combined fuzzy process using a new membership function with Weber's law is constructed for the purpose of coordinate reading of the end points in the macro motion control. Second, an algorithm using the geometric analysis is desinged in order to calculate position values and posture values of the robot joints. Third, the MGSLM method is designed to remove unnecessary the robot motion control caused by the GSLM method in the micro motion control. Consequently, proposed methods in this study lessen burdcn of a human of an improvement of the robot motion control and reduce the teaching time of a human operator and inaccuracy of the teaching task, which contribute to the integrated human-robot ergonomics.

  • The purpose of this study is to assess for scattering object for the missile ejection round due to analysis of the human body effectiveness safely. To achieve this goal the measurement method of scattering objects by comparative 2 measurement methods studied, the risk of scattering of the object is evaluated. Result of this study, applied in Europe and Japan, based on the safety criteria for the human body effectiveness when missile ejection round. data showed is not effectiveness to the operator's body safely. Data showed that satisfies the safety criteria for missile ejection round in Europe and Japan through the similarity for the case studies. In case of these safety criteria does not exist regulation in South Korea, this study will be referred as guidelines are considered.

  • This paper presents a new dynamic human reliability analysis method and its application for quantifying the human error probabilities in implementing management action. For comparisons of current HRA methods with the new method, the characteristics of THERP, HCR, and SLIM-MAUD, which are most frequency used method in PSAs, are discussed. The action associated with implementation of the cavity flooding during a station blackout sequence is considered for its application. This method is based on the concepts of the quantified correlation between the performance requirement and performance achievement. The MAAP 3.0B code and Latin Hypercube sampling technique are used to determine the uncertainty of the performance achievement parameter. Meanwhile, the value of the performance requirement parameter is obtained from interviews. Based on these stochastic obtained, human error probabilities are calculated with respect to the various means and variances of the things. It is shown that this method is very flexible in that it can be applied to any kind of the operator actions, including the actions associated with the implementation of accident management strategies.

  • In this paper, we propose a new efficient operator named DBAH (difference between arithmetic mean and harmonic mean) and a technique for extracting sketch features through learning fuzzy inference rules with a neural network. The DBAH operator provide some advantages; sensitivity dependence on local intensities and insensitivity on small rates of intensity change in very dark regions. Also, the proposed fuzzy reasoning technique by a neural network has a good performance in extracting sketch features without human intervention.
