Mobile Phone and Extension of Human Communication (이동전화와 인간 커뮤니케이션의 확장)

  • Mobile phone media have extended the terrain of human communication. Starting from the notion of McLuhan, this study suggests that the extension of human communication is a concept of multiple dimension, such as 'extension of function' and 'extension of ego' Mobile phone speed the pare and efficiency of life, but also allow more flexibility at business and professional levels as well as family and personal life. On the other hand, mobile phone is also conceived as a personality kit, that is as a symbol of user's identity. So we ran classify the mobile phone users as a typology of motivation. Group I, entitled 'hyper-coordination', has high instrumental and high expressive motivation. Group II(='instrumental') is high instrumental but low expressive. Group III(='expressive') is low instrumental and high expressive, and Group IV(='minimal') is low in both instrumentality and expressiveness of mobile phone use. Then would the hyper-coordination group have different usage pattern with the other groups? A sample of 482 university students completed survey questionnaire. , which states hyper-coordination group would most frequently make calls and text, and have largest extensity and variety of usage, is supported statistically. states that hyper-coordination group would have larger and deeper social network than the other groups. This hypothesis is also supported with statistics.

Calculation of Induced Current in the Human Body around 765 kV Transmission Lines (765 kV 초고압 송전선 주변의 인체 유도전류 계산)

  • Safety related to electric field exposure for the personnel of high voltage power plant and substation is of importance. To analyze the induced current influencing on human body in this paper, we calculate directly capacitance in three dimension which is complex and time consuming, as not to separate the voltage source and the induced object using a effective modeling technique. The proposed algorithm in this paper has been applied to 765 kV high voltage transmission line to evaluate human hazard for the induced current through the case study. As the results, the short circuit current of human body has been identified in the range of 0.3 mA to 6.8 mA. Closing to transmission line, this range of short current can exceed 5 mA that ANSI recommended let-go current. Therefore, it is necessary to countermeasure such as putting on conductive clothing in live-line maintenance of transmission line.

Reconstruction of Pretibial Defect Using Pedicled Perforator Flaps

  • Background Coverage of defects of the pretibial area remains a challenge for surgeons. The difficulty comes from the limited mobility and availability of the overlying skin and soft tissue. We applied variable pedicled perforator flaps to overcome the disadvantages of local flaps and free flaps on the pretibial area. Methods Eight patients who had the defects in the anterior tibial area were enrolled. Retrospective data were obtained on patient demographics, cause, defect location, defect size, flap dimension, originating artery, pedicle length, pedicle rotation, complication, and postoperative result. The raw surface created following the flap elevation was covered with a split thickness skin graft. Results Posterior tibial artery-based perforator flaps were used in five cases and peroneal artery-based perforator flaps in three cases. The mean age was 54.3 and the mean period of follow-up was 6 months. The average size of the flaps was 63.8 $cm^2$, with a range of 18 to 135 $cm^2$. There were no major complications. No patients had any newly developed functional deficit of the lower leg. Conclusions We suggest that pedicled perforator flaps can be an alternative treatment modality for covering pretibial defects as a simple, safe and versatile procedure.

  • In the present paper, the raison d'$\^{e}$tre of geography and geography education in the humanities are explained. Geography was not considered as ontology notion and geography was also not aware of regarding ontology. However, human being is the geographic existence. People occupy the space they live in and reveal their own existence by virtue of the space. In geography, we understand human existence by concrete things consisting of the space. Geography can explain the necessity for the space of origin where human being had lost and open a gate to find their own existence through it. Geography education can find the justification as to why we should teach it in 'now here'. We can make a bright future in geography education in terms of critical reflection at the ontological dimension. Geography and geography education have clear reason to exist in right here. That begins from the question of what relationship between human and space is and completes the raison d'$\^{e}$tre based on the answer.

A Study on Development of Men's Formal Jacket Pattern by 3D Human Body Scan Data -A Focus on Men's in their Late 30s- (3D 인체데이터를 활용한 남성 정장재킷 패턴개발 연구 -30대 후반 남성을 중심으로-)

  • Based on a 3D body data and pattern comparison analysis, this study developed a formal jacket pattern for men in their late 30s. In order to select the representative type of men in their late 30s, factor analysis and cluster analysis were conducted on data form 319 men, 35 to 39 years old using the anthropometric data from The 7th Size Korea (2015) as the representative body type. The surface of the body surface was developed using a 3D human shape of a male in his 30s in The 6th Size Korea (2010). Then the shape was changed to a flat pattern that confirmed the necessary elements for setting the shape and dimension. Cluster analysis revealed type B as the representative type because it showed the best shape characteristics for men in the late 30s. The drafting method of the final research pattern is as follows. Jacket length: stature/2.5cm, back length: stature/5+8.5cm (constant)], armhole depth: [stature/ 7-1.5cm (constant)], back width: [C/9+9.5cm (constant)]+1cm (ease), front width: [C/9+8.5cm (constant)]+1cm (ease), armscye depth: C/8, front waist darts: 1cm, front closure amount: 2cm.

A basic research for the development of Korean mathematics education standards for the next generation (미래세대 수학교육표준 개발을 위한 기초 연구)

  • This study aims to elicit the vision of the future human being and mathematical competencies that next generation should pursue to be nurtured through mathematics education as regarding the need for a national mid-term to long-term mathematics education standard for nurturing learners that can accommodate changes in the future society is emerging. The research team established the criterion for domains of mathematical competencies through the analysis of prior research, and then, refined three dimensions of mathematical competencies and the domains of each dimension through expert advice (9 people in total, 3 times) and focus group interviews (10 people in total, 4 times). After conducting a large-scale survey (295 people in total) which includes elementary and secondary teachers, professors, and researchers, etc., the vision of the future human being and mathematical competencies were elicited. In order to utilize the vision of the future human being and mathematical competencies, five stages of research on the development and utilization of mathematics education standards were proposed. Cooperating with related organizations, securing the research project period and expanding the scope of research team composition, and providing web-based documentation of mathematics education standards will be needed for the follow-up studies.

The effects of both store and private brand apparel product attributes on satisfaction and repurchase intention at large discount stores (대형할인점의 점포속성과 PB 의류 제품속성이 만족도 및 재구매 의도에 미치는 영향)

  • The aims of this study were to identify the dimensions of both store and PB apparel product attributes at large discount stores, and to empirically examine the effects of each dimension of store and PB apparel product attributes on satisfaction with PB apparel products and on repurchase intension. Questionnaires were given to 264 large discount store customers, who have experienced buying PB apparel products at large discount stores. The results were as follows. First, purchased PB items and image, improvement of PB apparel products showed differences by gender. Second, the dimensions for store attributes were categorized as convenient of shopping environment, product quality, customer service, advertising reach, convenient location, and reasonable prices. The PB apparel product attributes were categorized as material handling management, quality, fashion ability, and brand power. Third, generally, both store and PB apparel product attributes at large discount stores are significantly related to PB apparel satisfaction and repurchase intention. PB satisfaction and repurchase intention of males were partly affected by store attributes and PB apparel product attributes. PB satisfaction and repurchasing intention of females, however, were partly affected by only PB apparel product attributes, not store attributes.

Evaluation and Design for Joint Configurations Based on Kinematic Analysis (운동학에 기초한 로봇 손가락의 관절구조 평가 및 설계)

  • This paper presents an evaluation of joint configurations of a robotic finger based on kinematic analysis. The evaluation is based on an assumption that the current control methods for the fingers require that the contact state specified by the motion planner be maintained during manipulation. Various finger-joint configurations have been evaluated for different contact motions. In the kinematic analysis, the surface of the manipulated object was represented by B-spline surface and the surface of the finger was represented by cylinders and a half ellipsoid. Three types of contact motion, namely, 1) pure rolling, 2) twist-roiling, and 3) slide-twist-rolling are assumed in this analysis. The finger-joint configuration best suited for manipulative motion is determined by the dimension of manipulation workspace. The evaluation has shown that the human-like fingers are suitable for maintaining twist-rolling and slide-twist-rolling but not for pure rolling. A finger with roll joint at its fingertip link, which is different from human fingers, proved to be better for pure rolling motion because it can accommodate sideway motions of the object. Several kinds of useful finger-joint configurations suited for manipulating objects by fingertip surface are proposed.

The Effects of Object Size and Travel Distance on Human Speed Perception (물체의 크기와 이동거리에 따른 속도감 변화)

  • Human perceptional speed is different from its real speed. There is lack of research that the perceptional speed is different from real speed in 2-dimension, because most research of speed perception has concentrated on points and lines. This research investigates the effects of object size on speed perception. In this research, we used 2-D circular objects of the different size, 0.9, 1.8 and $3.6^{\circ}$. The objects moved 9.0, 13.5 and $18.0^{\circ}$ with three different speeds, 6.0, 9.0 and $18.0^{\circ}$/s. Six participants were exposed to the environment with standard scene(size: $1.8^{\circ}$, speed: $9.0^{\circ}$/s and travel distance: $13.5^{\circ}$). After the first scene, another scene in which the object had changed to different sizes, speeds and distances, was shown to the participants. A magnitude estimation method was used to construct a scale of the perceived speed level. The relationship between the perceived and the actual speed level was explained by Stevens's power law that the value was 0.978 with the exponent of 0.992. The size of object had an effect on the speed perception but travel distance was not. The perceptional speed of bigger object was lower than of smaller object. It showed that the degrees of perceptional speed decreased as size of object increased.

  • The trend of abstract expressions has become one of the fundamental causes of the problems relating to a sense of place in modern architecture. This trend began in earnest after the era of modernism, caused by the effect of modern dualism. Before analyzing the problems of the modern trend of abstract expressions and sense of place, a fundamental review of the establishment of human environments is necessary. In this context, this study deals with the principles of the establishment of an environment based on the logic of projection between human beings and milieu, through the concept of mediance by Augustin Berque, and based on this, causes of adverse effects on the establishment of environments in modernism were verified. In addition, the last section covers the conceptual supplements required in order for the concept of mediance to become practical, overcoming its limitation of being simply theoretical. Through this analysis on the concept of mediance, it is realized that a genuine sense of place can be achieved only when architecture moves beyond the individual dimension as a simply physical object, and instead plays a role as a socially sustainable community, embracing the people and unique objects therein.
