Accurate Human Localization for Automatic Labelling of Human from Fisheye Images

  • Deep learning networks like Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) show successful performances in many computer vision applications such as image classification, object detection, and so on. For implementation of deep learning networks in embedded system with limited processing power and memory, deep learning network may need to be simplified. However, simplified deep learning network cannot learn every possible scene. One realistic strategy for embedded deep learning network is to construct a simplified deep learning network model optimized for the scene images of the installation place. Then, automatic training will be necessitated for commercialization. In this paper, as an intermediate step toward automatic training under fisheye camera environments, we study more precise human localization in fisheye images, and propose an accurate human localization method, Automatic Ground-Truth Labelling Method (AGTLM). AGTLM first localizes candidate human object bounding boxes by utilizing GoogLeNet-LSTM approach, and after reassurance process by GoogLeNet-based CNN network, finally refines them more correctly and precisely(tightly) by applying saliency object detection technique. The performance improvement of the proposed human localization method, AGTLM with respect to accuracy and tightness is shown through several experiments.

Effects of Giving Prompts and Asking for Self-Explanation Depend on the Students' Need for Cognition (촉진질문 제공과 자기설명 지시가 기억과 이해에 미치는 영향: 인지욕구와의 상호작용)

  • A three factor experiment was conducted to explore the effects of giving prompts and asking for self explanation and the modulating effect of the need for cognition (NC) on the two interventions. The effects of giving prompts and asking for self explanation were different depending on the task and the level of need for cognition. Participants of low NC conditions showed the prompt effect and the self explanation effect in the memory tests. On the other hand, participants in the high NC conditions performed better in the comprehension test when they were given prompts and were asked to self explain. However, high NC participants performed worse when they were asked to self explain without providing the prompts. The results were interpreted to suggest the importance of detecting the right parts in getting the self explanation effect.

Analysis of Importance, Understanding Level and Needs by Subject of College Students Preparing for Radiological Technologists National Examination (방사선사 국가시험 준비를 위한 대학생들의 과목별 중요도와 이해도 수준 및 요구도 분석)

  • The aim of this study analyzed the important level (IL) and understanding level (UL) including the Borich's need for students preparing of the national examination for radiological technologists at online open chatting room. A total of 254 survey were collected from a total of 1,016 students who used open chatting room from December 13 to December 16, 2022. A general characteristics were the age, gender, curriculum (3 or 4 years), grade and area. The IL, UL, learning satisfaction (LS), learning achievement (LA) and intention to continue using (ICU) were analyzed by using the 5 point Likert scale. There was no significant difference the LS, LA, and ICU according to general characteristics (p>0.05). There was a statistically significant difference a total of sixteen subjects based on the t-test results of the response values from the IL and UL (p<0.05). The total of ten subjects with the highest priority in the Locus for Focus models were the Ultrasonography, Human anatomy, Magnetic resonance imaging, Radiation therapy, Cardiovascular and intervention, Computed tomography, Human physiology, Radiographic imaging, Fluroscopic radiography, and Nuclear medicine) that the Borich's need was also the same as the top 10 ranked subjects. The LS (4.23±0.72), LA (4.18±0.73), and ICU (4.15±0.78) for open chatting room were high. This study identified the subjects most needed by college students by the Borich's need analysis. First, it is necessary to provide intensive education on subjects with high scores that are most needed by college students. Second, it is necessary to improve the teaching method for subjects with low need and low level of understanding.

Educational Meaning of Human Creation Process in Mythology (신화에서 인간출현과정의 교육적 의미 - 단군신화와 창세기 내용을 중심으로 -)

  • The myth reflects the human way of thinking about the world. Therefore, an important part of myth is human creation and role. This study examines the process of human creation in myth and discusses implications for education. The subjects that can be considered from the viewpoint of education are as follows. The status and role of teachers and students, the relationship between teachers and students, how to create or create humans, and the purpose and results of human creation. First, it is the position and role of the teacher. In myth, being like a teacher is a divine being that transcends human ability. In Dangun mythology, Hwanwoong or Shinwoong descended from heaven, and in the Genesis it is the Creator God. In Dangun mythology, the role of the teacher guides the way of becoming a human and provides necessary tasks. In Genesis, the image of the teacher is the Creator God. God plays the role of a teacher who prepares various environments in which learners can work. Second, the status and role of students in myths. In Dangun mythology, students are symbolized by bear and tiger. They go to the teacher with the desire to become human beings. In Dangun mythology, the student is not a passive existence but an autonomous and active image. In Genesis, the appearance of a student is a passive being created by a teacher. Third, the creation of human beings in myth can be seen in terms of educational process and method. In Dangun Myth, the beginning of education is the wish or expectation of learners. Learners eat mugwort and garlic and participate in human learning. In Genesis 1, however, there is no need for a special method, since human beings are created according to the Creator's command. Fourth, the purpose of education can be discussed through the purpose of human creation. In Dangun mythology, the purpose of education is not to live according to instinct but to become human with culture and personality. In Genesis 1, the purpose of human creation is the role of the Creator in creating and managing the world. Therefore, it is the aim of humans to manage the world in an orderly manner. The purpose of education in Genesis 2 is to enable humans to serve the world.

  • In the near future, robots should be able to understand human's emotional states and exhibit appropriate behaviors accordingly. In Human-Human Interaction, the 93% consist of the speaker's nonverbal communicative behavior. Bodily movements provide information of the quantity of emotion. Latest personal robots can interact with human using multi-modality such as facial expression, gesture, LED, sound, sensors and so on. However, a posture needs a position and an orientation only and in facial expression or gesture, movements are involved. Verbal, vocal, musical, color expressions need time information. Because synchronization among multi-modalities is a key problem, emotion expression needs a systematic approach. On the other hand, at low intensity of surprise, the face could be expressed but the gesture could not be expressed because a gesture is not linear. It is need to decide the emotional boundaries for effective robot behavior generation and synchronization with another expressible method. If it is so, how can we define emotional boundaries? And how can multi-modality be synchronized each other?

An Empirical Study on the Relationship among Firm Characteristics, Human Resources and Investment Strategies of Korean Private Venture Capitals (한국 벤처캐피탈의 조직상황적 특성, 인적자원 특성 및 투자전략 간의 관계에 관한 연구)

  • There are many different types of risk capital competing for deals in the korean entrepreneurial capital market. In the past, even though korean private venture capitalists did not have their distinctive competitive advantages, due to government support and subsidies, they could be survived in the market. However, the government controlled area has changed to a market driven area which emphasizes market forces and competition rather than support and protection. In order to be competitive, Korean private venture capital firms need to recruit high calibre professionals and build required financial skills for wise entrepreneurial investments. The purpose of this article is to analyze the relationships among firm characteristics, human resources, and investment strategies of korean venture capital firms. We can find that the asset size of venture capital firms has a positive effect on the size of their human resources. However, we can not find any relationship between firm characteristics and investment strategies of venture capitals. Even though we find some evidences among some variables, we need to interpret the results very carefully. Further research would be needed to carried out to clarify the disputable interpretations and our understanding of this area.

  • Since human genome project finished, the cost for human genome analysis has decreased very rapidly. This results in the sharp increase of human genome data to be analyzed. As the need for fast analysis of very large bio data such as human genome increases, non IT researchers such as biologists should be able to execute fast and effectively many kinds of bio applications, which have a variety of characteristics, under HPC environment. To accomplish this purpose, a biologist need to define a sequence of bio applications as workflow easily because generally bio applications should be combined and executed in some order. This bio workflow should be executed in the form of distributed and parallel computing by allocating computing resources efficiently under HPC cluster system. Through this kind of job, we can expect better performance and fast response time of very large bio data analysis. This paper proposes a workflow-based data analysis system specialized for bio applications. Using this system, non-IT scientists and researchers can analyze very large bio data easily under HPC environment.

  • In human and robot interaction, the role of emotion becomes more important Therefore, robots need the emotion expression mechanism similar to human. In this paper, we suggest a new emotion expression system based on the psychological studies and it consists of five affective elements, i.e., the emotion, the mood, the personality, the tendency, and the machine rhythm. Each element has somewhat peculiar influence on the emotion expression pattern change according to their characteristics. As a result, although robots were exposed to the same external stimuli, each robot can show a different emotion expression pattern. The proposed system may contribute to make a rather natural and human-friendly human-robot interaction and to promote more intimate relationships between people and robots.

  • The purpose of this study is to optimally allocate the human resources to tasks while minimizing the total daily human resource costs and smoothing the human resource usage. The human resource allocation problem (hRAP) under consideration contains two kinds of special constraints, i.e. operational precedence and skill constraints in addition to the ordinary constraints. To deal with the multiple objectives and the special constraints, first we designed this hRAP as a network problem and then proposed a Pareto multistage decisionbased genetic algorithm (P-mdGA). During the evolutionary process of P-mdGA, a Pareto evaluation procedure called generalized Pareto-based scale-independent fitness function approach is used to evaluate the solutions. Additionally, in order to improve the performance of P-mdGA, we use fuzzy logic controller for fine-tuning of genetic parameters. Finally, in order to demonstrate the applicability and to evaluate the performance of the proposed approach, P-mdGA is applied to solve a case study in a hotel, where the managers usually need helpful automatic support for effectively allocating hotel staff to hotel tasks.

  • As people's living standard is being improved, human works are being replaced by robots. However, because most robots are used in process industry, fixed on the ground, we need to develop human robots that have wide applications. Currently many researches are being conducted on human robots with the object of replacing human works, but because of lack of relevant hardware, such robots are being applied limitedly to very simple tasks. To overcome the limitation, the present study developed a kinematical mechanism and a controller. Based on human kinematics, the shoulders and the arms were composed of master arms with 3 degree of freedom, and we reproduced motions similar to human ones through the characteristics of joint variables and experiment on the trajectory of the end effector.
