  • This paper presents a wavelet-based digital watermarking technique for still images. The digital watermarking considering human visual system (HVS) to increase the robustness and perceptual invisibility of digital watermark. The watermarking embedding is modified discrete wavelet transform (DWT) coefficients of the subbands of the images. The human visual system is number of factors that effect the noise sensitivity of human eyes that is considered to increase the robustness and perceptual invisibility of digital watermark. The watermark detection is blind watermark ( original image is not required ). Experimental results successful against attacks by image processing such as add noise, cropping, filtering, JPEG and JPEG2000 compression.

  • The unsafe act and unsafe condition is due to human error that experience 80% of safety accidents. Accordingly, one of the most important issues to reduce industrial accidents as a whole, is how to reduce the accident rate by the human error. Therefore, this paper describes the development of quantitative risk assessment (QRA) model by ergonomics for reform of safety consciousness on the semiconductor industry. Unconsciousness, disregard, ignorance, recklessness, and stress among the human factors are selected for conscious reform. Finally, the QRA model is efficiently expected to contribute towards improving continuous self-safety and health and safety culture campaign in order to prevent industrial accidents.

  • This study deals with human reaction speed according to human physical conditions (body size) such as head width, thickness, breast width, arm extent, and age. Especially, the results of this study are compared between young and old generation. According to this study, the thickness and extent factor do not have any correlation with human reaction speed, but width factors(head width, breast width, etc) have some correlation with human reaction speed. The result of this study can be used to find fitter person for a special job such as emergency condition job, sports man (because you can find a person having a good talent for it without test). Also, the purpose of this study is to find CNT (Channel Noise Time). The word of CNT is to explain the relation between Channel Noise and working speed. (Channel Noise is a kind of noise happening between the human information transmission channel.)

  • Electroencephalogram(EEG) would be the most objective psychophysiological research technique on human errors though few research has been taken yet. This study aimed to get characteristics of human error while committing simple Odd-Ball tasks by utilizing the power spectrum technique of EEG data. Each experiment was composed of 3 tasks with different rules, and three young undergraduate students participated in this study as paid subjects. The result showed that subject and the interaction of subject and task factors were statistically significant on variation of power of $\alpha$ and $\beta$ bands which implied there would exist groups with homogeneity in their response. And though the variation of band powers due to task factors were not so great as to get statistical significance, it implied that the task requiring decoding process would be more strange to human beings than the task merely requiring psychological recall process.

  • We carried out the human visual evaluation on PDPs and LCDs to clarify the viewer preference and the related physical and physiological factors. In the subjective evaluation, the impression test using the semantic differential method was carried out. In the objective evaluation, the eye motion tracking system was used. Our study showed that considering the real usage, the optimum display for viewers was that which showed more soft and smooth image without blurring.

  • The human oral cavity contains a highly personalized microbiome essential to maintaining health, but capable of causing oral and systemic diseases. Thus, an in-depth definition of "healthy oral microbiome" is critical to understanding variations in disease states from preclinical conditions, and disease onset through progressive states of disease. With rapid advances in DNA sequencing and analytical technologies, population-based studies have documented the range and diversity of both taxonomic compositions and functional potentials observed in the oral microbiome in healthy individuals. Besides factors specific to the host, such as age and race/ethnicity, environmental factors also appear to contribute to the variability of the healthy oral microbiome. Here, we review bioinformatic techniques for metagenomic datasets, including their strengths and limitations. In addition, we summarize the interpersonal and intrapersonal diversity of the oral microbiome, taking into consideration the recent large-scale and longitudinal studies, including the Human Microbiome Project.

  • For the prevention of marine accidents based on human factor, the risk assessment analysis procedure is proposed which consists of (1) the structural analysis of marine accident, (2) the estimation of incidence probability based on the Fault Tree analysis, (3) the prediction of ef-fectiveness to reduced the accident risk by suitable countermeasures in the specified functional system, and (4) the risk assessment by means of minimizing of the total cost expectation and the background risk. As a practical example, the risk assessment analysis for preventing is investigated using the proposed method.

  • In this study, through the roadside interview, drivers'feeling about fatigue has been evaluated synthetically and systematically when they drive a vehicle according to their sex, vehicle type, driving career, etc. Also, with the human sensibility evaluation technique, we grasped the human sensibility structure for the fatigue in a vehicle and as an objective evaluation index for comfort and fatigue in a vehicle, we developed a sensibility database. Through the survey and research, extracting and understanding the importance of factors which have influence on the fatigue in driving can be used as basic data that can suggest more comfort and pleasant driving environment to drivers. Also, human sensibility database regarding to the comfort and fatigue in a vehicle can be used as basic data in ergonomic vehicle design, evaluation for seat , comfort seat development, development of vibration reduction method and so on.

  • The purpose of this study is to present the method to select optimal size for the industrial products which are closely related to human's body size. For this purpose, human factors such as body characteristics, body features, and preference in product selection which needs to be considered in setting standards were analyzed. This analysis is to select optimal size to minimize losses caused by the difference of size between demand by the customers and supply from the manufacturers. Using loss function, repetitive calculation process algorithm by using bisearch method was applied in selecting the sizes of demand and supply which minimize the total expected losses. For cumulative normal distribution probability, IMSL routine DNORDF was used. In case study, comparison has been made between the result which was calculated using presented algorithm and the results calculated by the process currently used by KS and ISO by measuring aged women's body size in human factors side and sorting them through the factor analysis and cluster analysis for feature factor extraction. Thus, they can be used as a basis for establishing industrial product standards.

  • This study described the specification and configuration of developed fixed-base AHS (Automated Highway System) simulator fur the human factors researches, and its usability evaluation results after riding 120, 140, and 160kph automated driving speed. As the results, this study suggested the subjects' preferences and opinions about simulator and AHS configurations that would help to establish the AHS R&D plan and driver-vehicle/road interface design guidelines as the basic researches of the AHS human factors.
