The purpose of this study was to assess repeatability and reliability of a new phoria test as compared to established phoria tests and to assess the possibility of mobile or online testing using the auto-flashed presentation. Near dissociated phoria was measured using the von Graefe method, the Howell card test, the modified Thorington test, and a new dichromatic card test (Red-Blue Phoria card test; RBP card test) on 109 subjects. The inter-examiner difference and test-retest difference were calculated. With the auto-flashed presentation of the RBP card test, near dissociated phoria was measured and the intraclass correlation coefficient and test-retest repeatability was assessed on 26 subjects. The variation in inter-examiner repeatability was the smallest for the modified Thorington test (+3.1/-2.6). The RBP card test was +3.0/-3.1, the Howell card test was +3.5/-2.7, and the von Graefe test was +6.2/-6.0. The variation in test-retest repeatability was the smallest for the RBP card test (+0.4/-1.4). The modified Thorington test was +1.3/-1.3, the Howell card test was +1.27/-1.45, and the von Graefe test was +1.59/-2.20. The ICC was 0.919 for the auto-flashed presentation of the RBP card test. The RBP card test is considered a highly repeatable method clinically and can be made a useful application for testing in mobile or online.
This Study on three different methods which are Von Graefe test, Maddox Rod test and Howell card test of measuring far and near lateral phoria investigated. It reviewed that 420 subjects aged from 15 to 35 years old. The result were as follows; 1. Using Von Graefe lateral phoria measurement, they were measured 6% for orthophoria, 62% for exophoria, 32% for esophoria at far distance. 2. Using Von Graefe lateral phoria measurement, they were measured 2% for orthophoria, 74% for exophoria, 24% for esophoria at near distance. 3. Using Maddox Rod lateral phoria measurement, they 59% for exophoria, 37% for esophoria at far distance. 4. Using Maddox Rod lateral phoria measurement, they 67% for exophoria, 30% for esophoria at near distance. 5. Using Howell card lateral phoria measurement, they 60% for exophoria, 32% for esophoria at far distance. 6. Using Howell card lateral phoria measurement, they 69% for exophoria, 27% for esophoria at near distance.
Purpose: This study was to investigate that near gradient AC/A ratio could be used to prescribe a patient with distance exophoria, we compared the difference between distance gradient AC/A ratio and near gradient AC/A ratio. Also, this thesis was to understand the relationship between calculated AC/A ratio and gradient AC/A ratio. Methods: Objective and subjective refractive error were corrected and we used Howell (3 m) chart for distance phoria tests and Howell-Kim (40 cm) chart for near phoria tests. The near gradient AC/A ratio and calculated AC/A ratio were used by Howell-Kim (40 cm) combined with +1.00 D, -1.00 D, +2.00 D and -2.00 D. Results: The average value of distance exophoria was 1.17${\pm}$1.17 $\Delta$, and the average value of near exophoria was 3.71${\pm}$2.80 $\Delta$ (t-test. p<0.001). The correlation of distance phoria with near phoria was little higher (r = 0.59, p < 0.001). Gradient AC/A ratios depending on measuring distance and stimulus were higher (r = 0.11~0.53. P < 0.001), when distance was shorter and stimulus to accommodation was more. Also, stimulus to accommodation by plus lens was higher than stimulus to accommodation by minus lens (paired t-test. p < 0.001). There was negative correlation between calculated AC/A ratio and gradient AC/A ratio. As the calculated AC/A ratio was higher, gradient AC/A ratio was lesser. Near gradient AC/A ratio was slightly higher than distance gradient AC/A ratio. Distance and near gradient AC/A ratio taken through the subjective -1.00 D were 1.30 $\Delta$/D and 1.68 $\Delta$/D(t-test. t=1.67, p < 0.001). Conclusions: There is negative correlation between calculated AC/A ratio and gradient AC/A ratio. Also, there is subtle difference between near gradient AC/A ratio and distance gradient AC/A ratio. Therefore, we need to measure distance gradient AC/A ratio when a practitioner prescribe glasses for a patient with distance exophoria.
The purpose of this study was to identify the stress, social support, and happiness in undergraduate nursing students who experienced the COVID-19 pandemic, and to identify factors affecting happiness. The survey was conducted from December 18, 2022 to January 5, 2023. The subjects were 195 first and second grades nursing students attending two universities located in G city. Influencing factors on happiness were social support(β=.63, p<.001) and department satisfaction(β =.30, p<.001) accounting for 49.7% of the total change. In order to improve the happiness of nursing students based on the results of this study, strategies and programs that can increase social support and department satisfaction are needed.
The purpose of this study is to confirm the relationship between emotional intelligence, self-leadership, and organizational socialization of nursing students who have experienced clinical practice, and to identify factors that affect organizational socialization. From May 4, 2023 to June 10, 2023, 226 3rd year nursing students attending two universities located in G city were enrolled. Data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Games-Howell test, Pearson's correlation, and Stepwise multiple regression. Statistically, organizational socialization showed a significantly positive correlation with emotional intelligence (r=.61, p<.001) and self-leadership (r=.64, p<.001). The factors influencing organizational socialization were self-leadership (β=.407, p<.001), emotional intelligence (β=.320, p<.001), and better interpersonal relationships (β=.139, p=.004). followed by religion (β=.103, p=.030), explaining 51.1% of the total variation. Based on the results of this study, self-leadership, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal relationship improvement programs are needed to improve organizational socialization of nursing students.
Purpose: This is a comparative experimental study on the amount of phoria by the removal time of binocular fusion. In this study, three tests were used for phoria test like Howell test, Thorington test and developed 3D polarizing test. Methods: In this study, it was considered the removal time of binocular fusion for measuring phoria. The three methods were used for measuring quantity of phoria: Howell test, Thorington test and developed 3D Polarizing test. The measurements progressed quickly to avoid eye-strain. So we designed the test charts for marking 3D display modules and the apparatus inserted lenses, like Maddox lens and prism, which are compatible with three phoria tests. The phoria at the moment separation was measured when the binocular fusion was broken through the apparatus and the that at the stable separation was measured when activity of the separated two images like indicated box and figure on horizontal axis stopped. Results: There were statistically significant difference between quantity of phoria at moment separation and that at stable separation. Amount of phoria at moment separation was relatively larger than amount of that at stable separation. In result in exophoria, the quantity of phoria at moment separation was higher than that at stable separation, and in phoria measured by developed 3D polarizing test, it shows the similar results at two condition. Conclusions: For exophoria, the amount of phoria at moment separation of binocular fusion was relatively larger than that at stable separation. The amount of difference between phoria values at moment separation and that at stable separation was alike among three phoria tests. Usually in working, there is no distinction between moment separation and stable separation. But there were definitely the difference between two ways to separate binocular fusion. Therefore, it is need for writing on prescription test name for measuring phoria and condition of separation of binocular fusion.
The purpose of this study was to identify the degree of empathy, communication competence and person-centered care of nursing students to identify the factors that influence person-centered care. Data were collected by using questionnaires from 207 students in the 3rd and 4th grades of the nursing college who experienced clinical practice in G city, from May 2 to 20, 2022. Data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Games-Howell test, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression. Statistically, person-centered care showed a significantly positive correlation with empathy(r=.57, p<.001) and communication competence(r=.63, p<.001). Influencing factors on person-centered care were communication competence(β=.44, p<.001), empathy(β=.30, p<.001) and clinical practice satisfaction(β=-.13, p=.028) accounting for 49.8% of the total change. Based on this results, in order to improve person-centered care of nursing students, it is necessary to develop education programs to increase communication competence and empathy ability and to provide active feedback through pre and post evaluation to increase clinical practice satisfaction.

Conclusion: Results indicate that nei-guan acupressure is a potentially effective therapy for the prevention of nausea and vomiting which occur with IV-PCA. Therefore, if patients complain of nausea and vomiting when receiving IV-PCA, nurses can provide patients with information about nei-guan acupressure and help them with nausea and vomiting.
This study aimed to examine the influence of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on areas of Korean medical students' lives, assess concerns, and investigate the strategies they used to cope with stress due to the pandemic. An online survey with a total of 53 items on the impact of COVID-19, concerns, and coping strategies was sent to medical students, and responses were collected from April 27, 2021 to May 30, 2021. In total, 1,329 students were included in the study. Analysis was performed using the chi-square test, independent-sample t-test, and one-way analysis of variance, and the post-hoc Scheffé test or Games-Howell test was performed for multiple comparisons. The main negative impacts of the pandemic were on hobbies/leisure activities and mental health, and medical students expressed the highest levels of concern regarding restriction of movement, returning to everyday life, and risk of infection for family and friends. Female students more strongly agreed that COVID-19 had increased their depressed mood and anxiety (p<0.001 and p=0.003, respectively). Furthermore, the negative impacts of the pandemic on different areas of life significantly affected current levels of depressed mood and anxiety. To cope with pandemic-related stress, students used several strategies such as talking with family or friends (91.5%), sleeping (83.1%), exercising (72.8%), using social networking services (60.8%), drinking alcohol (37.8%), and practicing meditation/mindfulness (24.4%); the effectiveness of these strategies ranged from 3.45 to 4.19 on a 5-point Likert-type scale (1-5). The study findings suggest that COVID-19 has influenced the mental health of medical students and raised concerns in many areas of their lives. Students used various strategies to cope with the pandemic-related stress; since the effectiveness of frequently used approaches varied, it is essential to guide medical students to develop effective coping strategies.
