  • The performance based design obligates quantitative assessment of required performances by means of transparent and objective science. In this design scheme, simulation of both macro and micro-scale structural behaviors is thought to be a powerful tool. This paper proposes a way how to unify the structural safety and serviceability check method and durability assessment of RC structures. Though component chemical-physical processes are crudely assumed, system dynamics of micro-scale pore structure formation and macro-scale defects and deformation of structures was shown as possible and promising approach in future. The authors understand that the unification of structural and durability design has just started. For further progress and development, predictive tool of structural behaviors from birth to death of concrete under any specified environment and load serves as an essential technicality.

  • As the thickness of the polymer membrane of PEMFC(Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells) is getting thinner for PEMFC performance and price reduction, research on improving durability has become more important. In the durability evaluation of membranes, the mechanical durability evaluation time is more than twice that of the chemical durability evaluation time, so it is necessary to select the durability evaluation conditions well. In this study, we tried to check how much the mechanical durability evaluation time changes when there is a difference in the inflow gas type and flow rate in the mechanical durability evaluation protocol (Wet/Dry). When nitrogen was used at a flow rate of 2,000 mL/min, the evaluation time increased by 1.25 times compared to when air was used. An increase in the degradation rate of the electrode Pt was the main factor when air was used. When the flow rate was reduced to 800 mL/min, the air and nitrogen evaluation times increased by 1.5 times and 1.2 times, respectively.

  • Purpose: Analyze the results of on-site inspection of the tunnel structure maintenance management monitoring and suggest improvement plans. Method: We investigate and analyze the problems of various items on maintenance monitoring of tunnel structure of 14 subway lines of Seoul subway in downtown area. Result: The maintenance monitoring items, measurement quantity and installation location are classified into open tunnel and excavation tunnel and improvement plans are suggested respectively. Various durability criteria of the measuring instruments were examined, and durability confirmation method suggested improvement measures such as approval, inspection, inspection and testing, calibration of monitoring sensors. Conclusion: Applying the improvement measures of the tunnel structure maintenance monitoring to the construction site will increase the efficiency of the maintenance monitoring and contribute to the development of construction monitoring technology.

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate how the Peer-Praise Activity program influence the Elementary School Students' Peer-Relationship and Class Cohesiveness. 2 Classes from the 5th grade of J elementary school in Seoul were selected as experimental group and control group. After the Peer-Praise Activity program was applied to experimental group, a post-test was given to verify the effects of the program. After one month, follow up-test was conducted to check the effect of durability on program. The program was applied to experimental group to check the inadequency and problem. Contrastively, control group had no application of the program. The results of this study are as follows : Compared to control group, experimental group that participated in the Peer-Praise Activity program showed significant improvement(p<.05) in Peer-Relationship and Class Cohesiveness. To supplement the results of quantitative analysis, opinion documents and qualitative analysis were executed. It shows that children had help of having confident school life by improving friendship and having a sense of unity and community spirit. In follow up-test result, it is known that the effect of Peer-Praise Activity Program is continued in Peer-Relationship and Class Cohesiveness and its all sub-factors except Communal life with friends which is one of the sub-factor in Peer-Relationship. The results above prove that Peer-Praise Activity Program has a positive effect on the Peer-Relationship and Class Cohesiveness for elementary school students. But it is needed to study long-term conducted program to improve durability effect. And curriculums and subjects which is able to connected with program should be studied continually.

  • Purpose: To observe the high temperature creep test and the fracture surface of the samples of 9% Ni alloy steel generally used for all kinds of mahine parts and predict the durability of that by determining a constant of C with a Larson-Miller variable. Methods: The equipment of this test was made into lever-beam style designed by Andrade and F. Garofalo et al.. The condition of creep test was set under 16 kinds of conditions after fixing 4 kinds of temperature condition and 4 kinds of stress condition to check how it effects the samples. Results: The temperature of creep test was increased, the stress index (n) of creep deformation was gradually decreased from 3.97 to 3.55. The activation energy of creep deformation was decreased from 90.39 to 83.64 kcal/mol when the stress was increased. A constant of C value by calculation of larson-Miller variable was about 22 and if temperature for use is suggested, the durability could be calculated. Conclusions: By analyzing the fracture phenomenon and suggesting the observation result of the fracture surface of the samples and creep test of 9% Ni alloy steel, the basic design data for the practical use of accessories in the field of equipment could be constructed and used to predict the durability of the equipment.

  • In the case of driving water electrolysis by receiving surplus electricity from solar and wind power generation, operation and stopping must be repeated according to weather fluctuations. When the PEMWE(Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Water Electrolysis) is driven and stopped, the PEM fuel cell is in the same state as the PEM fuel cell due to the residual hydrogen and oxygen, and the high potential of the water electrolysis formed during operation is highly likely to cause degradation of the electrode and membrane even during stopping. In this study, in order to check how much degradation of the electrode and membrane progresses during the repeated driving/shutdown process of PEM water electrolysis, the performance decrease was measured by changing the number of driving/shutdown for 144 hours. Changes in electrode catalyst active area, hydrogen permeability and fluorine emision rate of membranes were analyzed to measure changes in the properties of electrodes and polymer membranes. Overall, the PEMWE performance decreased as the number of stops increased. When stopped 5 times in 144 hours, the IrOx catalyst activity decreased by more than 30%, and the hydrogen permeability increased by 80%, confirming that both the electrode and the membrane were deteriorated.
