And there is 1.6 households per house. The condition of housing facilities is poor. The elderly prefer staying in the same place to moving, and invest little for their housing even though being able to afford to do so. The housing satisfaction, which is significantly influenced by the ownership the size the quality change in moving and the housing facilities, is correlated with the satisfaction of their condition as elderly households and their living satisfaction. Research design, data, and methodology: This study used 11th Korea Financial Panel Data. Analysis methods in this study include basic statistical analysis, frequency analysis, multiple regression analysis, and artificial neural network analysis. Results: As a result of the analysis of this study, 1) young one-person households showed that women had higher ratios of non-regular workers, real estate debt than men, and lower average income. The percentage of young people owning their own homes was very low at about 5%. 2) For young women, the higher the education level and monthly consumption, the lower the housing satisfaction. 3) Young women living in rental housing had lower housing satisfaction than their own. Conclusions: Women are paying more for housing security than men in young one-person households. In addition, the proportion of their own houses is very low. • The causes of indebted overspending were investigated by examining household expenditure patterns using the data from the 2002 Family Expenditure Survey. The five major expenditure categories were identified by factor analysis, and the six types of indebted overspending were clustered. About 28% of the indebted overspending was done out of necessity, and food, utilities, housing, and health care accounted for about 42% of the household expenditure. Luxury spending accounted for about 25% of the overspending by indebted households who spent about 24% of the household expenditure on clothing, entertainment, and private education. Cars (22%) and education (20%) were found to be other major causes of indebted overspending. Paying off debt and durable purchases were identified as the major causes of indebted overspending, but had a low frequency. The 2014 Consumer Empowerment Index of the Korean consumer agency, which includes the surveyed results of 1,000 individuals, was analyzed as a secondary dataset. As a result, the following findings emerged during the study. First, 25.9% of consumers replied that they were keeping financial records. Factors associated with keeping financial records were gender and income. Women were more likely to keep financial records than men. Also, income had significant effects on keeping financial records. Second, levels of meeting percentages of financial ratios were highest in the debt to income ratio, which was 81.5%, and lowest in the investment ratio, which was 14.5%. Furthermore, 52.6% met the savings ratio, 40.6% met the emergency funds ratio, 24.6% met the retirement savings ratio. Meeting a percentage of the savings ratio did not fluctuated for 16 years, although the debt to income ratio has decreased around 15% since 1998. Third, keeping a household account book had signigicant influences on meeting percentages of financial ratios. Magnitudes of effects ranged between 1.4-1.8 odds, which were as much as the income effects. In summary, effects of keeping financial records were evidenced in this study. It is suggested that the importance of keeping financial records should be stressed in financial education and counseling programs.
