  • Health services in developing countries are increasingly focused on satisfying the needs of customers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many patients have anxiety when going to hospitals for medical treatment. The pressures brought by the pandemic have overwhelmed the hospital system in Vietnam. This has caused the quality of service at these hospitals to decrease because they have focused on the goal of preventing the spread of the virus. Therefore, hospitals, especially private hospitals, need many solutions to improve the quality of their services. This study evaluated the impact of these factors on hospital service quality, as well as the influence of customer service quality on patient satisfaction. The survey was conducted from January 2021 to September 2021 and data was collected directly from 539 patients at Van Phuc Hospital 1. The results show that 4 factors affect the service quality of the hospital, as well as the service quality affecting patient satisfaction, in which, the strongest impact on the service quality of the hospital is the service attitude and professional capacity of the medical team. In the context of the COVID-19 epidemic, this study implies that if the hospital service is good, the customers' peace of mind and satisfaction will be enhanced.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the nature of the inpatient service quality of national university hospital, and based on that, to examine the relationship of hospital inpatient's perceived quality, overall satisfaction, customer loyalty(intention of revisiting, intention of oral transmitting). To carry out these objectives, first we analyzed the dimensions of inpatient care service quality using SERVQUAL scale. The SERVQUAL scale is based on the gap theory, that is, the difference of patients' expectations and the actually received medical care service in hospital. On the basis of this theory, we measured the inpatient's perceived service quality, overall patient satisfaction and customer loyalty. Data were collected by self-administered questionnaires at a 809 bed national university hospital. These questionnaires measuring the service quality were distributed to 400 inpatients. The data samples are 347 cases in final. The response rate was 86.8%. Firstly, to categorize inpatient service quality in hospital, the factor analysis was performed on 48 items. The reliability and validity of these items was evaluated. Finally to explore the relationship of service quality, overall satisfaction, and customer loyalty, the multiple regression and logistic regression analysis are used. This study shows firstly, the dimension of inpatient service quality was categorized into 7 dimensions, that is, kindness, medical service, nurse caring, environment, facilities, appropriateness and access. Secondly, the reliability and validity of inpatient service quality items was satisfied. Thirdly, as a result of multiple regression analysis, the effect of inpatient's perceived service quality, especially, nurse caring(P<0.01), environment (P<0.01), facilities, appropriateness and access variables(P<0.05), on overall satisfaction was statistically significant. Lastly, in case of the effect on customer loyalty as a intension of oral transmitting, medical service(P<0.05), environment(P<0.01) and overall satisfaction(P<0.01) are statistically significant. Also, in case of intension of revisiting, medical service, environment, access, and overall satisfaction variables are significant factors. In conclusion, to maintain the satisfaction and customer loyalty on national university hospitals, the efforts to improve the inpatient service quality, especially, environment, medical service, and access factors might be needed.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyse statistically the relation between medical service quality and managerial performance. And then the way of analysis is the regression analysis that independent variable is service quality, dependent variable is the volume of revenue, the number of patients and the rate of beds utility, and dummy variable is the number of beds, ownership and region. The sample hospitals were the 113 hospitals on general hospitals more than 300beds which were consisted of 20 public hospitals, 41 corporate hospitals and 52 college hospitals, and also distributed 67 hospitals on big city and 46 hospitals other city. The sample hospitals were selected from the Korean Hospital Association and the data of the year 2003 and 2004. The collected data was analyzed using the SPSSWIN 10.0 version, and the study hypothesis was tested using regression analysis. The findings of this study are summarized as follows. First, as a result of analysing hypothesis 1. In the study of the relationship between the service quality and the revenue, it was verified that the more service quality in last year became the more revenue in the year. But the dummy variable, ownership and region, rarely related to hospital revenue. Therefore it means that the more service quality is connected to the more revenue on the large number of beds hospitals. Second, as a result of analysing hypothesis 2 & 3. In the study of the relationship between the service quality and the number of patients, it was verified that the more service quality in last year became the more outpatients in the year. But there was no verified to inpatients. It seems to be the reason why a hospital has operated the fixed number of beds approved by the public office. So there are no free to expand beds according to the number of inpatients as much as inpatients are increasing. Third, as a result of analysing hypothesis 4 & 5. In the study of the relationship between the service quality and the rate of beds utility, it was verified that the more service quality in last year became the shorter of average stay of length in the year. Especially it has influenced much more on a hospital which was the large number of beds, the corporate and the college, but the region. But it was denied that the more service quality became the more the beds turnover. As a result of this study, it shows that the service quality in the last year has importantly influenced on a hospital managerial performance in the year. Estimating the service quality of each hospital, most patients have selected the hospital they want. And the hospital need to keep the number of patients for the proper management. So this result of the study means that a hospital must improve the service quality for keeping efficient management.

  • The objective of this study is to analyze the causal relationship of hospital inpatient's perceived quality, overall satisfaction, service value, and future intention to revisit. To carry out this objective, first we analyzed the dimensions of inpatient care service quality using SERVQUAL scale. The SERVQUAL scale is based on the gap theory, that is, the difference of patients' expectations and the actually received medical care service in hospital. On the basis of this theory, we measured the inpatient's perceived service quality and overall patient satisfaction. Data was gathered from a self-administered questionnaire at a 980 bed university hospital in Inchon City. These questionnaire measuring the service quality were distributed to 250 inpatients. The response rate was 66.4%. A total of 166 questionnaires was finally analyzed. To categorize medical service quality, the factor analysis was performed on 42 items. The reliability and validity of these items was evaluated. Finally to test 6 hypotheses, we analyzed the causal relationship of service quality, overall satisfaction, service value, and intention to revisit through the structural equation modeling(SEM). The major results of this study are as follows. First, the dimension of inpatient service quality was categorized into 7 dimensions, that is, personal caring, communication, access, physical environment, facilities and equipment, cleanliness, appropriateness and health status. Second, the reliability and validity of inpatient service quality items was satisfied. Third, as a result of structural equation modeling, the effect of inpatient's perceived service quality on overall satisfaction, service value, and intention to revisit was statistically significant. • This study attempts to investigate how healthcare service quality impacts upon hospital reputation, service value, and customer satisfaction. Additionally, the association of customer satisfaction with hospital loyalty and the mediation role of service value and reputation are examined. Analysis results can be summarized as followings: First, the procedural convenience and efficiency have significant impact upon customer satisfaction but personnel service and service scape do not significantly affect customer satisfaction. Second, the personnel service and service scape have significant impacts upon both the service value and hospitals' reputation. Third, service value and hospital reputation contribute significantly to the customer satisfaction. Fourth, customer satisfaction enhances significantly customer's satisfaction and intention to recommend. We conclude that a regional medical center should be able to offer high quality medical services to its customers to satisfy or delight them. Only the satisfied customers will have intention to revisit the medical center or to recommend it to their friends.
