유한요소법을 이용한 수평형 다단원심펌프의 내진해석 (Seismic Analysis of Horizontal-Type Multi-Stage Centrifugal Pump using Finite Element Method)

  • As a fluid machinery for piping liquid in the reactor cooling system, multi-stage centrifugal pump requires the structural dynamic stability against external dynamic excitation. This paper is concerned with the finite element analysis of its eigen behavior and seismic response to RRS(Required Response Spectrum) curves in the case of SSE (Safe Shutdown Earthquake). Through the finite element analysis, the major vibration characteristics of multi-stage centrifugal pump(MSCP) are investigated and seismic qualification based on the IEEE codes is executed. The numerical results show that the MSCP used in this study has enough seismic strength.

ER유체를 이용한 이방성 스퀴즈필름 댐퍼의 특성 (Characteristics of Directional Squeeze Film Damper Using ER Fluid)

  • Electro-Rheological (ER) fluid is applied to a controllable squeeze film damper (SFD) for stabilizing a flexibly supported rotor system. ER fluid is a class of functional fluid whose yield stress varies according to the applied electric field strength, which is observed as viscosity variation of the fluid. In applying ER fluid to a SFD, a pair of rings of the damper can be used as electrodes. When the electrodes are divided into a horizontal pair and a vertical one, the SFD can produce damping force in each direction independently. A prototype of the directionally controllable SFD was constructed and its performance was experimentally and numerically investigated in the present work.

  • 일반적인 합성보는 콘크리트 슬래브와 H형강 철골보 사이에 작용하는 수평전단력을 쉬어코넥터로 긴결하여 휨내력 및 강성을 증가시킨 구조다. H형강대신 U형 철골을 사용하고 그 속에 콘크리트를 채운 새로운 형태의 합성보 시스템이라 할 수 있는 T형 합성보의 구조 특성을 실험에 의해 분석하고, 기존의 합성보 설계이론을 토대로 내력평가를 하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 또한 T형 합성보의 구조설계 및 시공에 필요한 기초자료를 제시하고자 한다.

Behavior of cable-stayed bridges under dynamic subsidence of pylons

  • Cable-stayed bridges are often used in modern bridge engineering for connecting two geographical points of long distance. A special load case to cable-stayed bridges is earthquake, which can produce horizontal as well as vertical movements on the pylons of the bridge. These movements may be transient in nature, i.e., only resulting in the transient vibration of the bridge, but causing no damage consequences. In some extreme cases, they may cause permanent subsidence on one or more pylons of the bridge. In this paper, the effect of pylons' subsidence on the dynamic deformations of the bridge and on the cables' strength is thoroughly studied. Conclusions useful to the design of cable-stayed bridges will be drawn from the numerical study.

  • 구조물의 진동을 제어하기 위하여 널리 활용되고 있는 기초분리시스템(base isolation system)는 대상구조물에 경제적이며 효율적으로 적용할 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 가장 널리 쓰이고 있는 적층(積層)고무받침(laminated rubber bearing) 방식의 기초분리장치(base isolator)를 제작하여 이에 대한 정적 및 동적 특성실험을 수행하였다. 실험으로부터 얻어진 결과를 통하여 제작된 기초분리 장치의 정적 및 동적특성을 분석하였으며 실제 구조물에 대한 기초분리장치로서의 적용가능성을 고찰하였다. 최종적으로 기초분리장치에서 나타나는 비선형 힘-변위 이력곡선을 수치적으로 이상화하여 실험결과와 비교하였다.

진자 시스템에서의 새로운 도약 현상의 실험적 관측과 이론적 해석 (Experimental Observation of New Jumping Phenomena in the Pendulum System and Its Analytical Approach)

  • This paper introduces a newly designed pendulum system that enables the more accurate boservation of dynamic behaviour arising from both horizontal and vertical(i.e. two dimension) excitation. First, experiments were carried out to examine the frequency responses of the devised pendulum system. Interestingly, experimental results for the three excitation angles of 22, 32 and 48 degree show 'new' jump phenomena. For the further understanding of these phenomena, experimental investigationhas been made to identify the equation of motion of the pendulum system from experimental data. This attempt has revealed that the viscous, coulomb and aerodynamic damping factors are involved in the equation of motion. By applying the Ritz averaging method to the equation, it becomes apparent that the jumping phenomena of the pendulum system in this work is more theoretically understood.

  • The market of the horizontal axis washing machine (drum washing machine) has been growing drastically in Korea by about 80% annually since 2000. As market grows fast, the customerTs demands concerning quality becomes more strict and various. Imbalance sensing is a key technology to reduce the NVH problem in a washing machine, because the laundry is time-variant and uncontrollable source of imbalance, which can cause more than 200kgf exciting force. In this paper, imbalance-sensing methods are briefly reviewed, new acceleration sensing circuits are examined, and finally the control algorithm of spinning process is proposed and validated.

Influence of Thermal Expansion on Eccentricity and Critical Speed in Dry Submersible Induction Motors

  • Rotor eccentricity is one of the major factors that directly influence the security of horizontal electrical machines, and the critical speed of the shaft has a close relationship with vibration. This paper deals with the influence of thermal expansion on the rotor eccentricity and critical speed in large dry submersible motors. The dynamic eccentricity (where the rotor is still turning around the stator bore centre but not its own centre) and critical speed of a three-phase squirrel-cage submersible induction motor are calculated via hybrid analytical/finite element method. Then the influence of thermal expansion is investigated by simulation. It is predicted from the study that the thermal expansion of the rotor and stator gives rise to a significant air-gap length decrement and an inconspicuous slower critical speed. The results show that the thermal expansion should be considered as an impact factor when designing the air gap length.

  • Boshin-Kak Bell, which is one of the largest bells, is located at Chong-Ro Square in the center of Seoul. The bell has been struct early morning and late evening for time-report since the 14th century in Lee Era. Therefore Boshin-Kak Bell has been an intimate old friend of Seoul citizen more than 500 years. Unfortunately, motal large cracks were found inside this bell in the horizontal and vertical directions in 1979. The present paper has investigated the propagated bell-crack by ultrasonic flaw detecting method, and the stress level, bell vibration and weight measurement by electric wire resistance strain gauge method. The results indicate that they are useful for further study of Korean bell by nondestructive test.

하니콤 코어 샌드위치 구조 날개의 아음속 플러터 특성 (Subsonic Flutter Characteristics of a Sandwich Structure Wing with Honeycomb core)

  • The flutter characteristics of all movable tail wing with honeycomb sandwich structure have been studied in this study. The present wing model has a airfoil cross section and the linear variation of spanwise thickness. Structural vibration analysis is performed based on the finite element method using sandwich and beam elements. Unsteady aerodynamic technique used on the doublet lattice method has been effectively used to conduct the frequency-domain flutter analyses. The parametric flutter studies have been performed for various structural design parameters. Computational results on flutter stability due to the variation of structural parameters are presented and its related characteristics are investigated through the comparison of results.
