In this study, we offered a way that is to make warehouse industry clustered in Incheon port for getting competitive and high end value added activities like advanced port logistics center considering trend that is changing functions of port and importance of port-hinterland. For this, we studied the existing research about port cluster, the present condition of warehouse industry in Incheon port and importance of value-added logistics activities. Also, we offered needs to build a high value-added and integrated logistics center by examples of advanced port logistics center in Singapore, Netherlands(Rotterdam) and Hongkong. We get the questionnaires for gathering ideas of port logistics industry about to set integrated logistics centers by strategy we offered that is making warehouse logistics clustered.

The objective of this paper is to analyze the competitiveness of the Cargo Management improvement of FTZ(Free Trade Zone) in East Asia and to suggest several measures to improve it. To the end, various comparisons are made between the FTZ of Incehon and those in Hongkong, Taiwan, Shanghai. Competitive advantages of Incheon's FTZ over others lie in its better contiguity, frequency, quality service, and convenient connections associated with the airport. To be viable, however, the Incheon's FTZ needs to have strong supports from the central government such as more SOC investment, early introduction of RFID/UBIQUITOUS, improvement of customs process and logistics system, and competitive incentives to bring in more international channel hubs to this area. With these implemented promptly as suggested, the Incheon's FTZ will draw its competitive advantages over those in Taiwan and Shanghai and will play an vital role to bring in more MNEs to Korea.

Lately, one of the most representative phases on business world is the diffusion of internet business. This change has been making new port business model called 'e-Port' in maritime transport. The focus of this article is to suggest some strategies on the implementation of e-Port in Korea. To research and analyze the e-Port realities, we first reviewed the previous study on Internet Marketing and e-Business. Six strategies that are critical on e-Port model were classified: (1) contents, (2) community, (3) commerce, (4) connection, (5) communication, (6) customization. Secondly, we chose and evaluated website of eight ports: Hongkong, Singapore, Antwerp, Hamburg, as successful e-port models. And then, we investigated actual conditions of e-Port in Pusan, Inchon, K wangwang, and Gusan. And then we try to find effective plan on the operation of e-Port.

Capacity has always been a major concern in wireless networks. This letter studies the impact of mobility on the overall system capacity in wireless cellular networks. In this letter, we present a simple system model which we developed to capture the inherent relationships among system capacity, new call blocking probability, handoff dropping probability, call terminating probability, and bandwidth utilization rate. We investigate the complex relationship between mobility and capacity-related parameters. Through simulation, we demonstrate that mobility has a significant impact on capacity and is reversely proportional to the bandwidth reserved for handoff traffic.

Recently the Korean Government is increasing investment and interest on railway in the transportation field as "low carbon and green growth" policy become main national development strategy. While railway competitiveness is weakening over the road from the inconvenient door-to-door and transfer system of railway, it is meaningful to review excellent railway transfer system of advanced countries and adapt their implications for Korea. Their transfer systems like Japan, Hongkong, France, U.K. and German can be categorized in this research as kinds of transfer & connectivity system and transfer facility & flow planning, and, as a result, their implications can be concluded. Also, analyzing transfer system of Korea's main stations and reviewing the difference between Korea and other countries, this paper suggests main principles and directions of urban planning, alignment of rail line, partnership of project stakeholder in the establishment of transfer system in the railway station in the future.

This study introduces the framework of the mutual recognition project of APEC Engineer and also tries to find out what we, Korean engineers have to do with this project. The mutual recognition framework consists of 2 main frameworks ; the substantial equivalence framework and the mutual exemption framework. The participating Economies have discussed and agreed on the framework of the substantial equivalency and have been producing APEC Engineers from the 1st, Nov 2000 based on this agreement. However, more discussions will be required from now on in order to finalize the mutual exemption agreement, even though there have been a lot of discussions including the workshop for the regulatory authority for the last 5 years. Here we have to study and find out what we have to do with this project and prepare for the bilateral agreements and the Coordinating Committee meeting to be held in Hongkong in Oct this year.

Optical design highly influer.ces consumer purchase and is a major factor of price decision in the optical industry. The price is varied based on designs. Eyewear design produces more added value than other products. Design and brand name are the foundation of rapid growth. while technology and quality control are basics of competitive optical design. Currently, China, Hongkong and other Asian countries are closely following Korea in the optical industry. There should be problem solving methods based on design and brand competition and export growth probability will be improved when continue various efforts emphasizing design.

Northeast Asia's burgeoning mage- cities have an extraordinarily economic vitality. While national statistics disguies how economic activity is concentrated, much of the region's robust growth of recent decades has centered around large cities, such as Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing, Shaghia, Hongkong. These cities are also at the heart of the Northeast Asia's emerging reional economy. This paper aims to compare the advantages and disad- vantages of these selected Northeast Asia cities in various categories of urban competitiveness and cooperation. Above all, the paper compares the individual cities with one another, and analyzes relations and linkages among them. Then, strengths that can be reinforced and weakness that can be overcome are identified for each city. Finally, an urban development strategy for Seoul in the context development strategy for Seoul in the context of Northeast Asian cities is provided : I) Seoul should strive to be an effective regional capital of Northeast Asia ; ii) Seoul should be a focal point for the intermingling of Chinese, Japanese and Western cultures.

By the rapid expansion of containerization and intermodal transportation in international shipping since the 1970's, the larger containerships have emerged and concentrated their calls at a limited number of ports. Moreover, large-scale container terminals have been built to accommodate the ever-larger containerships, and the mordernization of terminal facilities and many developments in information technology etc. have been brought out. Thus, unlimited competition has been imposed on every terminal with neighbouring ports in Japan, Singapore, Hongkong and Taiwan etc. The purpose of this study is to suggest how the container terminal operators cope with unlimited competition between local or foreign terminals. The results are suggested as follows: First, transshipment cargoes, which the added value is high, is to be induced. Second, the function of storage is given on On-Dock Yard. Third, Berth Pool Operation System is to be introduced, especially in Gamman Container Terminal and Kwangyang Container Terminal. Fourth, the cargo handling charges is to be decided by terminal operator.

Since Daegu subway station fire killed 192 citizens in 2003, the demands about safety MRT operation has been increased. Also, the studies and patents for MRT Surveillance are increasing. The related law and system are improving, too. This study suggests the solution for digital surveillance system that has the functions for restricted zone surveillance, the harmful gas and fire surveillance and abnormal behavior surveillance by comparing and analyzing the surveillance systems of advanced countries (United states, Hongkong, Japan etc). Then, we suggest UMS(Unified Message Service) system and image storing system for effective report and management.
