This study compared parental satisfaction between mothers who have young children with and without disabilities. The study subjects were 100 mothers who take care of disabled children and 123 mothers who take care of non-disabled children. The children's ages were from 3 to 6 years. The results of this study were as follows First, the mothers who take care of disabled children had lower mother's parental satisfaction than those who have ordinary mothers. Second, the children's age and the degree of disability had an affirmative influence on the parental satisfaction of the mothers who have disabled children. There were significant differences in the parental satisfaction of the mothers who have ordinary children according to mothers' age and their educational background. The parental satisfaction in both mother groups increased with increasing parenting efficacy, marital satisfaction and family support, and with decreasing parenting stress. Finally, parenting efficacy, children's age, parenting stress, and family support significantly predicted the parental satisfaction of the mothers who have disabled children while parenting efficacy, parenting stress, and educational background significantly predicted the parental satisfaction of the mothers who have ordinary children.

The number of registered domestic disabled person in 2008 survey was approximately 2.1 million. 90% of the disabled was caused by the aposteriori illness or accidents. So, in this aging society, the number of people with disabilities will increase even more. In general, people with physical and mental disabilities tend to have more oral diseases, but, are difficult to get treated. Therefore, a thorough oral care through individualized prevention is more important than ever. In this article, we review the oral care methods in dental office and home and in the hospital for the elderly and finally focus on a denture care method. According to this article, the dental professionals can be able to select and apply the oral care method in agreement with the characteristics of the disabilities. Particularly, it is important to prevent the aspiration pneumonia in the elderly in hospital.
Purpose: This study propose basic materials to prepare the mentally disabled for rehabilitation nursing mediating plans, by comparing the degree of self-care of the chronically mentally disabled residing in community mental health centers between those who participate in daytime rehabilitation programs and those who do not as well as the degree of perceived burden of the two groups' families. Method: The subjects of the study were 51 chronically mentally disabled men, who participated in daytime rehabilitation programs in three mental health centers in Gyeonggi-do and their families, and 53 in-house chronically mentally disabled men, who did not participate and their families. The measuring instrument for self-care consisted of ten spheres (65 questions and 5 points a standard). To quantify the feeling of burden of families, the measuring equipment developed by Montgomery et al. was used. Results: The degree of self-care of chronically mentally disabled men participating in rehabilitation programs in community mental health centers were higher than that of men not participating, and there was a significant difference between them. Families in the group not participating in rehabilitation programs had higher score than those in the group participating, but there was no significant difference. Conclusion: The participation of the chronically mentally disabled in rehabilitation programs influenced improvement of self-care and also lessened a feeling of burden of families somewhat.

ADL, and perceived health status. Method: The subjects were 146 disabled persons at home in rural areas. Data were collected from January 22 to January 31, 2004. Data were analyzed using frequencies, percentages, means, standard deviations, minimums, maximums, $\chi^2$-test, Fisher's exact test, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe test, Contingency coefficient, Pearson's correlation, Stepwise multiple regression. Results: The average score of ADL was $5.51{\pm}1.92$: sphincter control $(5.85{\pm}2.10)$, communication $(5.66{\pm}2.02)$, transfers $(5.67{\pm}2.21)$, self care $(5.44{\pm}2.05)$, social cognition $(5.33{\pm}2.08)$, and locomotion $(4.85{\pm}2.32)$. This means that the respondents were in the state of dependence. The main items requiring others' help were 'bathing' (57.7%) and 'going up and down stairs' (51.1%) ADL was significantly different according to age, sender, occupation, medical fee payer, type, severity and duration of disability, BMI, and alcohol drinking. Among the respondents, 82.8% perceived that their health status was bad. Main factors influencing the perceived health status of disability were age and ADL$(R^2=.343)$. Conclusion: Perception of health status among the disabled is related to their characteristics and ADL, so it is necessary to develop community-base rehabilitation programs in order to improve ADL and the perception of health status.
Purpose: This study was a secondary data analysis aimed at identifying the predictors of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of the home-dwelling disabled person by using EQ-5D which is a standardized instrument used as a measure of health outcome. Methods: Data were drawn from the 3rd Korea National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW). Subjects were 1,021 home-dwelling disabled persons over 19 years of age. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, t-test, Pearson's correlation, one-way ANOVA, Scheff$\acute{e}$ test, and Stepwise multiple regression. Results: HRQoL (Health Related Quality of Life) is differentiated within age, genders, educational level, employment status, economic status, types and grades of disability, health problems associated with limited mobility, and the limited duration of time. HRQoL is correlated with age, number of cohabiters, educational level, grades of disability, activities of daily living (ADL), and instrumental ADL (IADL). HRQoL is significantly associated with ADL, health problems in connection with limited mobility, employment status, types of disability, marital status, grades of disability, and the limited duration of time. These factors explained 63.7% of variance in HRQoL. Conclusion: HRQoL among the disabled is related to their characteristics, ADL, and IADL. For this reason, it is necessary to develop health programs to promote those variables required to improve HRQoL.
