  • With the recent rise in nuclear families and single-member families, there is a need for the kind of home management unaffected by neither space nor time. Moreover, electronic devices in and around the home need to be managed efficiently and prevented from overheating, and there is an increasing risk of fire, theft, and leak of personal data with these devices, which is leading to an increase in the economic costs. Accordingly, there is a growing need for an efficient and secure smart home management system. This paper proposes a home management system that uses smart devices. This system has addressed the shortcomings of a conventional Internet-based home network. Furthermore, it communicates with IoT-enabled devices and features intelligent information home appliances that are isolated from personally identifiable information and which are secure against advanced persistent threats, a type of cyber-attack.

  • Home service networked system gets more its fault chances, which are fault by the external factors, network fault, home appliance fault, and so on. Moreover, user may want to pay no attention to a sequence of complex or nervous maintenance jobs for system fault management. Therefore, home management system needs the function of home service recovery for fault home device. For this, this paper manages to design home network control log, and proposes the method for securing the home device service continuity analyzing home device service log in the point of fault.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the costs and benefits of home nursing care services between public health centers (PHC) and private hospitals. Method: Participants were 105 patients who had received home nursing care services from a private hospital or public health center. From a societal perspective, the researcher identified the costs and benefits of the services using performance data and calculated the net benefit and benefit/cost ratio. Result: The net benefit of the home nursing care service based in the PHC was 165.9 million won and benefit/cost ratio was 2.0, while the net benefit of the home nursing care services by the private hospital was 141.1 million won and benefit/cost ratio was 1.7. Both types of programs were economically validated. Conclusion: Home nursing care services were basically efficient as the results showed a positive net benefit. A cost-benefit analysis indicated that the PHC-based home nursing care services were more efficient than that of the private hospital. With limited human resources and management standards in public health centers, results suggest the need for a more systematic management of the home nursing care service to improve the health of this vulnerable community population.

  • Everyone lives in a home. We pursue happiness and the meaning of life through home life or family life. Home life, therefore, has an important meaning in the whole life, But home life can be sustained only through housework and wage labor. All human activities can be divided into two kinds of activities. The one has intrinsic value, the other has extrinsic value. Housework belongs to the activity with intrinsic value, but wage labor belongs to the activity with extrinsic value. In view of home life, housework has primary meaning, and wage labor has subsidiary meaning. In other words, wage labor is only means of home life. We mush not forget that important fact. But we cannot help thinking that nowadays people consider wage labor itself as an aim of life. It is said that we are achieving self-actualization through wage labor, but it is not ture. To tell the truth, most of us are experiencing self-alienation in job. We must recover the legitimate relation between housework and wage labor. Wage labor is means of home life, therefore it is on the extension line of housework. If we achieve happiness through home life, we must recognize that wage labor is only means of home life, not an end in itself.

  • This paper proposes two systems. One is a Home Gateway(HG) which efficiently connects and controls digital appliances in the home network environments. The other is a Management Server(MS) that overcomes the physical limitation of the HG. The HG supports networking modules(TCP/IP for Ethernet, ADSL), home networking functions(HomePNA, IEEE1394 PLC) and telecommunication system(PSTN/SLT, VoIP, Video Communication). The HG is expected to be a core device for the integrated digital home environments. The MS is a dedicated server which manages and controls individual HG, home appliances and HA devices implemented at an area.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate possible ways to expand the services of home-visit nursing through a review of the progress, achievements, and obstacles of home-visit nursing; a pilot project of an integrated home-service; the application of the Omaha System; as well as a case analysis of providing home-visit nursing services. Method: An integrated review was conducted using various source materials, including laws, previous studies, and a case analysis. Results: In case analysis of providing visiting nursing service, rehabilitation nursing, end-of-life nursing, and dementia care showed high nursing needs. It was necessary that the various home visit nursing services in the intervention area of the Omaha System, administrative services, case management, and center operation activities were all included in the payment systems of long-term care insurance. Conclusion: In the future, home visit nursing services of long-term care insurance should be reborn in the form of a center for integrated case management in the community, which would set long-term goals until the time of a client's death and encompass the realm of human rights for health, quality of daily life, and a dignity of life.

  • Home service networked systems require a high-availability service with a proactive and practical fault management. However, as the system complexity grows, it is not easy to meet the requirement. Moreover, user may want to pay no attention to a sequence of complex or nervous maintenance jobs for system fault managements. Therefore, the home service networked systems must have self & remote fault management capability with a minimal human intervention for meeting high-availability requirement of the integrated systems that consist of the networked appliances or devices. In this paper, we present an autonomic healing utility equipped with a remote self-managing mechanism in order to both increase the availability of home service networked systems and decrease the maintenance cost.

  • In this paper, we first introduce a general architecture of an energy management system in a home area network based on a smart grid. Then, we propose an efficient scheduling method for home power usage. The home gateway (HG) receives the demand response (DR) information indicating the real-time electricity price, which is transferred to an energy management controller (EMC). Referring to the DR, the EMC achieves an optimal power scheduling scheme, which is delivered to each electric appliance by the HG. Accordingly, all appliances in the home operate automatically in the most cost-effective way possible. In our research, to avoid the high peak-to-average ratio (PAR) of power, we combine the real-time pricing model with the inclining block rate model. By adopting this combined pricing model, our proposed power scheduling method effectively reduces both the electricity cost and the PAR, ultimately strengthening the stability of the entire electricity system.
