  • Composite hollow insulator consist of an insulating tube bearing the mechanical load protected by an elastomer housing the loads being transmitted to the tube by metal fittings. The core processes are comprised briefly and the electrical and mechanical performance were examined according to the IEC standards. In this study, we have manufactured the composite hollow insulator, and carry out the insulator and busing type test according to the IEC standards. Comprehensive approach followed by the test results would give feasible hollow composite insulator compliable to the IEC standards.

  • Because of its advantages such as more safe better electrical properties, lighter and easier to handle etc. than conventional ceramic materials, the development and application of composite insulator to the distribution and transmission system have been rapidly increased lately. In this paper, we reviewed performance evaluation on composite hollow insulator for extra high voltage based on IEC 61462 Technical Report 2, prospected to be published as international standards of Insulator for $SF_6$ GIS, Transformer, Arrestor etc, having been prepared by IEC technical committee 36 : insulator.

  • This paper describes the results the problem of stress calculation and optimization into a FRP(Fiber-glass Reinforced Plastic) tube crimped into a metal end-fitting. This type of assembly is used mainly is used mainly for suspension and line post insulators. Fitting strength of FRP and flange of this study is required greatly from composite insulator to important special quality. Therefore, wish to seek analysis and mechanical strength performance that follow to FRP tube and flange of top and bottom mechanical fitting.

  • A developed 800kV class composite hollow insulator for $SF_6$ Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) was tested as to insulation with their surfaces contaminated. The wet power frequency withstand voltage of the silicone rubber housing was about 135kV at an equivalent salt deposite density of $5kg/m^2$, to sufficiently satisfy the required performance. According to IEC 60507, the salt fog withstand voltage was measured at 565kV, and the highest measured leakage current was below 0.2mA. Therefore, it was clarified that the composite hollow insulator has sufficient insulation performance even when it is contaminated on the surface.

  • Silicone insulators have many advantages over porcelain insulators. Especially silicone insulators have good characteristics of impact hardness, surface insulation, ease of processing, mass productivity and don't have risk of bombardment and vandalism. Recently insulation part made by silicone are becoming widely used. In this paper we introduce the development of Sealing End for 132kV XLPE cable with silicone composite hollow insulator and the adoption of it to a actual transmission line in abroad. This paper contains of design procedure, structure, electrical performance of it.
