원공노치를 갖는 A17075/CFRP 적층 복합재의 노치강도 특성에 관한 연구 (The Study on Notch Strength Characteristics with Circular Hole Notch in A17075/CFRP Layered Composites)

  • 본 연구는 기존 수지기지 복합소재의 흡습성, 약한 충격강도, 열충격 손상문제 등을 해결하고 뛰어난 비강도, 내충격, 내피로 특성 등을 가지는 것으로 보고되고 있는 Al과 CFRP 접착소재인 CARALL(CArbon fiber Reinforced ALuminum Laminates) 하이브리드 복합소재를 제조하고, 이러한 소재가 항공기 부품제작에 적용되기 위해서 우선적으로 파악되어야 하는 특성, 즉 부품조립을 위해 가공되는 드릴링에 의한 원공노치 강도저하 효과를 조사하였다. 이를 위해 CFRP, A17075-T6, CARALL재 시편에 대한 판폭과 원공노치의 크기가 노치인장강도에 미치는 영향을 비교하고 고강도, 고 노치민감 소재인 CFRP 소재의 물성이 양면에 Al을 접착한 CARALL소재형태에 의해 개선될 수 있는지에 대해 파악하였다. 또한 각 소재에 대한 Whitney 및 Kim등의 노치인장강도 예측식을 적용하여 그 유효성을 검토하였다.

원공노치를 가진 CFRP의 적층방향에 따른 기계적 특성 평가 (The Mechanical Properties Evaluation on Lay-up Orientation Effect of CFRP Laminate Composite with the Hole Notch)

  • The tensile tests for [0/90]s, [90/0]s, and $[0/{\pm}45/90]s$ laminate composite were accomplished with acoustic sensor and failure processes were recorded by a video camera in real time. Also SEM examinations for fracture and side surface were carried out. The purpose of study is estimation of the failure mechanism and the mechanical properties effected by lay-up orientation for CFRP laminate composite with the hole notch. From the results, mechanical properties were obtained and they are similar between two kinds of cross-ply orientation in CFRP laminate composites, but not on $[0/{\pm}45/90]s$. And accordings to increasing the load, accumulate AE count was increased, regardless of lay-up orientation. Futhermore, failure mechanism was described by a video monitoring and SEM.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of arbitrarily located defect around the circular hole in the aircraft structural material such as Al/GFRP laminates and monolithic Al alloy sheet under cyclic bending moment. The fatigue behavior of these materials may be different due to the defect location. Material flaws in the from of pre-existing defects can severely affect the fatigue crack initiation and propagation behavior. The aim of this study is to evaluate effects of relative location of defects around the circular hole in monolithic Al alloy and Al/GFRP laminates under cyclic bending moment. The fatigue behavior i.e., the stress concentration factor($K_t$), the crack initiation life($N_i$), the relationship between crack length(a) and cycles(N), the relationship between crack growth rate(da/dN) and stress intensity factor range(${\Dalta}K$) near a circular hole are considered. Especially, the defects location at ${\theta}_1=0^{\circ}\;and\;{\theta}_2=30^{\circ}$ was strongly effective in stress concentration factor($K_t$) and crack initiation life($N_i$). The test results indicated the features of different fatigue crack propagation behavior and the different growing delamination shape according to each location of defect around the circular hole in Al/GFRP laminates.

평직 CFRP 홀 노치재의 피로 수명 예측 (Prediction of Fatigue Life for Hole-notched Weave CFRP Plate)

  • 최근 들어 높은 비강성, 화학적 특성 등으로 인하여 CFRP 복합재료는 여러 분야에서 많이 사용되고 있다. 대부분의 CFRP 복합재료를 이용한 구조물들은 여러 개의 독립된 부재들은 볼트(bolt)나 핀(pin)과 같은 기계적인 체결방법에 의해 조립 제작된다. 이때 독립된 부재들을 하는 경우가 많은데, 이와 같은 체결법은 홀과 같은 불연속부를 부재에 형성하게 된다. 홀 등의 불연속부는 재료 내의 노치로 작용하여 정하중 및 피로하중 하에서 재료의 강도를 저하시키는 원인이 된다. 본 연구에서는 평활재와 홀 노치재를 이용하여 실험적으로 피로수명을 평가하였으며 이 결과들을 비교하여 홀 노치재의 피로수명 예측식을 제안하였다.

  • 최근, 암반발파에서 평활한 파단면과 굴착손상영역을 제어하기 위한 목적으로 전자지발뇌관 및 노치장약공 등을 이용한 제어발파기술들이 개발되어 오고 있다. 본 연구에서는 날개형 노치 장약공을 이용한 SB발파에서 암반 내 파괴과정을 모사하여 파단면과 암반손상제어에 미치는 영향인자에 대하여 고찰하였다. 최종적으로 장약공 노치의 파단면 제어효과에 관한 수치해석적 고찰을 날개형 노치장약공과 전자뇌관을 이용한 새로운 SB발파법으로, ED-Notch SB발파법(Elerectronic Detonator Notched Charge Hole Smooth Blasting Method)을 제안하였다.

Glass/Epoxy 복합재료의 피로강도평가 및 피로수명예측 (The Fatigue Strength and the Fatigue Life Prediction in Plain Woven Glass/Epoxy Composite Plates)

  • The effects of the hole size(2R) and the specimen width(W) on the fatigue strength and the fatigue life in plain woven glass/epoxy composite plates are experimentally investigated under constant amplitude tensile fatigue loading. It is shown in this study that the notch sensitivity under fatigue loading is lower than that under static loading. It can be explained by the fact that the stress concentration is relaxed by the damage developed at the boundary of circular hole. To predict the fatigue strength at a specific cycle, the modified point stress criterion represented as a function of the geometry of the specimen(2R and W) is applied. It is found that the model used in the prediction of the notched tensile strength predicts the fatigue strength with reasonable accuracy. A model for predicting the fatigue life in the notched specimen, based on the S-$N_f$, curve in the smooth specimen, is suggested.

  • This paper investigated computationally and experimentally the interaction here between a notch as well as a micropore under uniaxial compression. Brazilian tensile strength, uniaxial tensile strength, as well as biaxial tensile strength are used to calibrate PFC2d at first. Then, uniaxial compression test was conducted which they included internal notch and micro pore. Experimental and numerical building of 9 models including notch and micro pore were conducted. Model dimensions of models are 10 cm × 10 cm × 5 cm. Joint length was 2 cm. Joints angles were 30°, 45° and 60°. The position of micro pore for all joint angles was 2cm upper than top of the joint, 2 cm upper than middle of joint and 2 cm upper than the joint lower tip, discreetly. The numerical model's dimensions were 5.4 cm × 10.8 cm. The fractures were 2 cm in length and had angularities of 30, 45, and 60 degrees. The pore had a diameter of 1 cm and was located at the top of the notch, 2 cm above the top, 2 cm above the middle, and 2 cm above the bottom tip of the joint. The uniaxial compression strength of the model material was 10 MPa. The local damping ratio was 0.7. At 0.016 mm per second, it loaded. The results show that failure pattern affects uniaxial compressive strength whereas notch orientation and pore condition impact failure pattern. From the notch tips, a two-wing fracture spreads almost parallel to the usual load until it unites with the sample edge. Additionally, two wing fractures start at the hole. Both of these cracks join the sample edge and one of them joins the notch. The number of wing cracks increased as the joint angle rose. There aren't many AE effects in the early phases of loading, but they quickly build up until the applied stress reaches its maximum. Each stress decrease was also followed by several AE effects. By raising the joint angularities from 30° to 60°, uniaxial strength was reduced. The failure strengths in both the numerical simulation and the actual test are quite similar.

  • Plastic기 복합재료의 파괴거동에 미치는 원공크기오 판폭의 영향을 검토하기 위하여 단축인장시험을 행하였다. 점응력파손조건에서의 특성길이 $d_o$는 원공크기 및 판폭에 의존하며, 이를 기초로 파손강도를 예측하기 위한 수정 점응력 파손조건식을 제안하였다. 이 파손조건의 예측값은 실험값과 잘 일치하였다. 파손 강도는 원공선단의 손상비의 증가에 따라 증가하며, 이는 손상영역의 형성으로 인한 응력완화현상으로 설명되어 진다. 또한 불안정 파괴시의 최대균열길이 $a_c$는 특성길이 $d_o$의 약 2배의 값을 나타낸다. 파괴인성에 대응하는 한계에너지해방율 $G_c$의 변화는 원공선단의 손상영역의 증가에 의한 응력완화가 주요한 원인이라고 할 수 있다.

Investigation the fracture behavior of high-density polyethylene PE80 weakened by inclined U-notch with end hole

  • In this article, the Strain Energy Density (SED) averaged over a well-defined control volume at a notch edge was applied in combination with the Equivalent Material Concept (EMC) to assess the fracture behaviors of some keyhole-notched specimens made of a High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE-PE80) material under mixed-mode loading conditions. An experimental program was performed and 54 new experimental data were totally provided. Additionally, different loading mode ratios were regarded by changing the inclination angles of the notches with respect to the applied load directions. The results obtained from the determined criteria were in good agreement with those of the experimental data.

  • The main objective of this study is to consider the effect of fatigue crack behavior on the variable depth of micro hole defects in SM20C at the symmetric position. The fatigue crack propagation test is performed by rotary bending fatigue test machine. The relationship between crack length(2a), cycles(N) and crack growth rate(da/dN) are investigated in this study. The result from the rotary bending fatigue test under the applied stress at 250MPa turned out that the fatigue life illustrated almost constant when the depth of symmetric micro hole deflects is both part A and B at the hope depth(h) = 0.5mm.
