Investigations on the Magneto-optical Properties of Bilayered Co/Ni Micro-patterned Anti-dot Arrays

  • A lot of studies are undergoing on the magneto-optical (MO) properties of patterned magnetic systems for the reason that they have potential application to information technology such as ultrahigh-speed computing. Moreover, they can be considered as the future candidates for high-density MO storage devices. Not only the technical aspects, but there have been also tremendous interests in studying their properties related to the fundamental physics. The MO Kerr-rotation effects (both in reflected and the diffracted modes) and the magnetic force microscopy (MFM) are very useful techniques to investigate the micromagnetic properties of such periodic structures. Hence, in this study, we report on the MO properties of bilayered Cobalt (Co)/ nickel (Ni) micro-patterned anti-dot arrays. Such a ferromagnetic structure was made by sequentially depositing co (40 nm)/Ni (5 nm) bilayer on a Si substrate. The anti-dot patterning with hole diameter of $1{\mu}m$ was done only on the upper Co layer using photolithography technique, while the Ni underlayer was kept uniform. The longitudinal Kerr rotation (LKR) of the zeroth- and the first-order diffracted beams were measured at an incidence of $30^{\circ}$ by using a photoelastic modulator method. The external magnetic field was applied perpendicularly to the reflected and the diffracted beams using an electromagnet capable of a maximum field of ${\pm}5$ kOe. Significantly, it was observed that the LKR of the first-order diffracted beam is nearly 4 times larger than that of the zeroth-order beam. The simulated results for the hysteresis loops matched qualitatively well with the experimentally obtained ones. In conjunction with the LKR, we also investigated the magnetic-domain structure by using a MFM system, which were analyzed to elucidate the origin of the enhanced MO rotation.

동일한 발광기를 가진 저분자색소와 고분자물질의 유기 EL특성의 비교 (Comparison of organic EL characteristics of low mass dye and polymer material with the same chromophore)

  • 동일한 발광기능기를 가진 고분자물질, PU-BCN과 저분자물질 D-BCN은 다양한 구조의 EL소자에서 평가되었다. 발광기능기의 분자구조는 전자주입과 수송을 위한 두 개의 시아노기와 정공주입과 수송을 위한 두 개의 triphenylamin기로 구성된다. 두 개의 다른 종류의 물질인 PU-BCN과 D-BCN을 사용하여 다양한 종류의 EL소자가 만들어 졌는데 소자의 종류로는 Indium-tin oxide(ITO)/PU-BCN or D-BCN/MgAg 로 구성된 단층형 소자(SL) 그리고 ITO/PU-BCN or D-BCN/oxadiazole derivative/MgAg로 구성된 적층형 소자(DL-E) 그리고 OTO/triphenylamine derivative/D-BCN/MgAg 로 구성된 적층형 소자(DL-H)이다. 두종류의 물질, PU-BCN과 D-BCN은 높은 전류밀도에서 동일한 발광특성을 보였으며 단층형자에서 조차 뛰어난 EL특성을 보였다. 최대 EL 피이크는 약 640 nm 의 적색발광을 나타냈으며 형광 피이크와 일치했다.

페리다이나믹 이론 모델을 이용한 재료의 균열 진전 해석 (Peridynamic Modeling for Crack Propagation Analysis of Materials)

  • 본 연구에서 페리다이나믹 이론 모델을 이용하여 준정적하중과 동적 하중, 균열전파와 분기균열 패턴 그리고 등방성재료, 직교 이방성 재료의 균열 진전 해석 등 다양한 조건을 고려한 전산 시뮬레이션을 수행하여 그 적합성을 검토하였다. 초기 균열은 없지만 중심에 홀이 있는 등방성 재료, 초기 균열이 존재하는 등방성 및 이방성 재료에 대한 전산 시뮬레이션이 수행되었다. 조정 동적 완화 기법이 사용되어 준정적 하중을 모사하였고, 이방성 재료 해석에서는 고전 연속체 역학과 페리다이나믹의 변형률 에너지를 고려한 균질화 방법이 사용되었다. 균열 전파와 분기 균열이 성공적으로 확인되었으며 파괴 거동의 시작과 그 방향 역시 페리다이나믹 이론으로 확인되었다. 페리다이나믹을 균질화 방법을 사용하여 비교적 복잡한 이방성 재료에 적용한 경우 역시 실험 결과 값과 비교하여 검증하였다.

시안기를 가진 유기 EL 물질들의 합성 및 유기 EL 소자에서의 발광특성평가 (Synthesis of Organic EL Materials with Cyano Group and Evaluation of Emission Characteristics in Organic EL Devices)

  • 고성능 전계발광(electroluminescent, EL) 소자에 사용되는 발광물질의 개발을 위하여 설계된 발광기능기의 분자구조는 비스스틸렌구조의 발광기능기에 전자주입과 수송을 위한 시안기와 정공주입과 수송을 위한 페닐아민기를 가진 구조이다. 위의 발광기능기로 구성 된 고분자물질, PU-BCN과 저분자물질, D-BCN을 합성하였다. PU-BCN과 D-BCN을 발광층으로 사용하여 만들어진 단층형 소자(SL)의 구조는 Indium-tin oxide(ITO)/발광층/MgAg이고, 적층형소자의 구조는 ITO/발광층/oxadiazole dehvative/MgAg, (DL-E)와 ITO/tri-phenylamine derivative/발광층/MgAg,(DL-H)의 두 종류이다. 동일한 발광기능기를 가진 고분자 발광물질, PU-BCN과 저분자발광물질, D-BCN은 전하주입과 수송성이 띄어난 물질로 평가되었으며, 두 발광물질들은 높은 전류밀도하에서 거의 동일한 발광특성을 보였다. 발광물질들의 최대 발광 피이크는 약 640 nm의 적색 발광영역에서 측정되었다.

사각 덕트 내에 설치된 2개의 경사진 배플에 의한 열전달 증진 효과에 관한 실험 수치해석 (Experimental and Numerical Analysis for Effects of Two Inclined Baffles on Heat Transfer Augmentation in a Rectangular Duct)

  • Baffles enhance heat transfer by disturbing boundary layer and bulk flow, creating impingement, and increasing heat transfer surface area. This study was performed to determine how the two inclined baffles (${\alpha}=5^{\circ}$ perforated models) placed at a rectangular channel affect heat transfer and associated friction characteristics. The parametric effects of perforated baffles (3, 6 and 12 holes) and flow Reynolds number ranging from 28,900 to 61,800 on the heated target surface are explored. Comparisons of the experimental data with the numerical results by commercial code CFX 10.0 are presented. As for the investigation of heat transfer behaviors on local Nusselt number with two baffles placed at $x/D_h=0.8$ and $x/D_h=8.0$ of the edge of baffles, it is evident that the inclined perforated baffles augment overall heat transfer significantly by both jet impingement and boundary layer separation. There exists an optimum perforation density to maximize heat transfer coefficients; i.e., the average Nusselt number increases with increasing number of holes, but the friction factor decreases with an increase in the hole number placed at baffles.

증착 온도에 따른 IZO 박막의 구조적 및 전기적 특성 (Structural and electrical characteristics of IZO thin films with deposition temperature)

  • In this study, we have investigated the effect of the substrate temperature on the structural and the electrical characteristics of IZO thin films for the OLED (organic light emitting diodes) devices. For this purpose, IZO thin films were deposited by RF magnetron sputtering under various substrate temperature. The substrate temperature has been changed from room temperature to $400^{\circ}C$. Samples which were deposited under $250^{\circ}C$ show amorphous structure. The electrical resistivity of crystalline-IZO (c-IZO) film was higher than that of amorphous-IZO (a-IZO) film. And the electrical resistivity showed minimum value near $150^{\circ}C$ of deposition temperature. The OLED device was fabricated with different IZO substrates made by configuration of IZO/$\acute{a}$-NPD/DPVB/$Alq_3$/LiF/Al to elucidate the performance of IZO substrate. OLED devices with the amorphous-IZO (a-IZO) anode film show better current density-voltage-luminance characteristics than that of OLED devices with the commercial crystalline-ITO (c-ITO) anode film. It can be explained that very flat surface roughness and high work function of a-IZO anode film lead to more efficient hole injection by reduction of interface barrier height between anode and organic layers. This suggests that a-IZO film is a promising anode materials substituting conventional c-ITO anode in OLED devices.

2차원 N-P-N 바이폴라 트랜지스터의 수치해석-BIPOLE (Numerical Analysis of a Two-Dimensional N-P-N Bipolar Transistor-BIPOLE)

  • 2차원 n-p-n 바이폴라 트랜지스터의 수치해석을 위한 프로그램(BIPOLE)을 개발하였다. 이 프로그램은 SRH와 Auger 재결합 기구들과 불순물 농도와 전계강도에 대한 운송자 이동도의 의존성과 밴드 갭 축소 효과들을 포함하고 있다. Poisson 방정식에는 Newton법을 또 정공과 전자의 연속 방정식에는 발산이론을 이용하여 여러가지 물리적인 제한없이 기본 반도체 방정식들에 대한 유한차분 공식들을 만들었다. 선형화된 방정식들의 계수 행렬은 희소 대칭 M 행렬이었는데 그 해를 구하기 위해 ICCG법과 Gummel의 알고리즘을 적용하였다. 이 프로그램 BIPOLE를 n-p-n 트랜지스터의 여러가지 정상 상태 문제에 적용시켰다. 그 응용의 보기로서 공통 에미터 전류이득의 변화, 에미터 용량에 대한 확산용량이 미치는 영향과 입출력 특성곡선들을 계산해 보았다. 전위 분포와 전자와 정공 농도분포와 같은 계산 결과를 3차원 컴퓨터 그래픽으로 도시하였다. 이 프로그램은 장차 2차원 트랜지스터의 교류 및 왜곡 현상의 수치해석의 기초로 이용될 것이며, 이 프로그램에 관심있는 모든 분들께 공급될 것이다.

Effects of film liners, ethylene scrubber, alcohol releaser and chlorine dioxide on the berry quality during simulated marketing in 'Campbell Early' grapes

  • This study investigated the effects of an ethylene scrubber (ES) with a micro-perforated polypropylene (MP-PP, 30 ㎛) or a high density polyethylene (MP-HDPE, 30 ㎛) film liner for the export carton packaging box in 'Campbell Early' grapes. Rachis browning was highest in the untreated group, followed by MP-PP and MP-HDPE for 14 days of simulated marketing at 20℃. The combination treatment of ES with the film liners showed a partial inhibition of the rachis browning regardless of the film liners. The effects of an alcohol releaser (AR) sachet or chlorine dioxide (CD) diffuser co-packaging were also investigated in the 'Campbell Early' grapes packed with the MP-HDPE (40 × 99 pin hole·m-2) film liner. The CD 1 g treatment showed a very limited weight loss of 1.1%, which was significantly lower than the 4.7% of the untreated control after 14 days of simulation marketing at 20℃. The berry shatter was 0.7% for the MP-HDPE + CD 1 g treatment and 1.8% for the MP-HDPE + CD 5 g treatment on the 10th day of the simulated marketing, which was significantly lower than the 8.9% of the control. The stem browning was significant suppressed until the 10th day of the simulated marketing. In particular, the CD 1 g treatment in combination with the MP-HDPE showed a low rachis and pedicel browning index of 2.0, which is 50% and 40% lower than that of the untreated control and the MP-HDPE single treatment, respectively. In addition, the CD 1 g treatment group showed a higher decay reduction effect than the CD 5 g treatment group, which caused high concentration damage.

유연 기판 위에 증착된 IZO 박막의 구조적 및 전기적 특성 (Structural and electrical characteristics of IZO thin films deposited on flexible substrate)

  • In this study, we have investigated the structural and electrical characteristics of IZO thin films deposited on flexible substrate for the OLED (organic light emitting diodes) devices. For this purpose, PES was used for flexible substrate and IZO thin films were deposited by RF magnetron sputtering under oxygen ambient gases (Ar, $Ar+O_2$) at room temperature. In order to investigate the influences of the oxygen, the flow rate of oxygen in argon mixing gas has been changed from 0.1sccm to 0.5sccm. All the samples show amorphous structure regardless of flow rate. The electrical resistivity of IZO films increased with increasing flow rate of $O_2$ under $Ar+O_2$. All the films showed the average transmittance over 85% in the visible range. The OLED device was fabricated with different IZO electrodes made by configuration of IZO/a-NPD/DPVB/$Alq_3$/LiF/Al to elucidate the performance of IZO substrate. OLED devices with the amorphous-IZO (a-IZO) anode film show better current density-voltage-luminance characteristics than that of OLED devices with the commercial crystalline-ITO (c-ITO) anode film. It can be explained that very flat surface roughness and high work function of a-IZO anode film lead to more efficient hole injection by reduction of interface barrier height between anode and organic layers. 텔레뷰어 암석강도 산출 및 그의 응용성 (Televiewer Rock Strength as an Approach to Estimate the Strength of in situ Rocks)

  • Televiewer is a logging tool capable of scanning the borehole wall. The tool uses a rotating acoustic beam generator that acts as both a transmitter and receiver. The beams are sent toward the wall. The amplitude of a returning signal from the wall has nearly a linear relationship with the reflection coefficient R of the borehole wall, when the wall is smooth. As R depends only on rock impedance for fixed water impedance, the amplitude is directly associated with mass density and seismic velocity of rock. Meanwhile, the amplitude can be further reduced by wall roughness that may be caused by drilling procedures, differences in rock hardness, because the rough surface can easily scatter the acoustic energy and sometimes the hole becomes elongated in all directions according to the degree of weathering. In this sense, the amplitude is related to the hardness of rocks. For convenience of analysis, the measured amplitude image(2-D data(azimuth ${\times}$ depth)) is converted, with an appropriate algorithm, to the 1-D data(depth), where the amplitude image values along a predetermined fracture signature(sinusoid) are summed up and averaged. The resulting values are subsequently scaled simply by a scalar factor that is possibly consistent with a known strength. This scaled Televiewer reflectivity is named, as a matter of convenience,“Televiewer rock strength”. This paper shows, based on abundant representative case studies from about 8 years of Televiewer surveys, that Televiewer rock strength might be regarded, on a continuous basis with depth, as a quitely robust indicator of rock classification and in most cases as an approximate uniaxial strength that is comparable to the rebound value from Schmidt hammer test.
