Simple Near-Field Optical Recording Using Bent Cantilever Probes

  • This paper describes our high-density near-field optical recording using bent cantilever fiber probes installed in an atomic force microscope. We conducted a near-field reading of nano-scale hole patterns with a 100 nm spatial resolution and a 25 ${\mu}m$/s scan speed; this implies a capability of a data reading density of 60 Gb/$in^2$ with a 0.25 kbps data transfer rate. In addition, we investigated re-writable near-field recording on photochromic diarylethene films. We successfully recorded erasable memory bits having a minimum width of 600 nm in a writing time as short as 30ms. We found that using a cantilever probe simplifies the setup and operation of the near-field optical recording system and may offer multifunctional recording capabilities.

Development of electrode tips for spot welding to reduce indentation of car body surface of stainless rolling stocks (스텐레스 철도차량 외판 압흔 깊이 감소를 위한 스폿용접용 전극팁 개발)

  • Stainless rolling stocks are usually fabricated by spot welding process without painting. Indentation on the surface of the car body after spot welding injures the beauty of the stainless rolling stocks. In this study, electrode tips to reduce the indentation are developed and applied to the actual spot welding works. The developed tips are composed of head, nut hole far cooling water, body and resistance material. They provide large surface contact area with the base materials during spot welding and enhance the current density by necking. Experimental results using the developed tips show that small indentation and sufficient tensile shear strength is produced due to large contact area and enhanced current density.

  • The Organic Electroluminescence (OEL) device, that was consisted of ALq3(8-hydroxyquinoline aluminum) and TPD(N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis(3-methylphenyl)-1,1'-biphenyl-4,4'-diamine), has been used. We investigated characteristics of brightness and current density about OEL that was oxidated each layers. We used two samples that were fabricated each continuous and non-continuous method. Emission was observed above 10mA/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and luminance was measured to be 1530cd/$\textrm{cm}^2$ at a current density of 100mA/$\textrm{cm}^2$. A luminance of over 2600cd/$\textrm{cm}^2$ was also observed after the final fabrication process.

  • Conventional ultraviolets A,B,C are known to be very important factor of killing, changing surface properties of biological cells and materials. It is of great importance to investigate the influence of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) exposure on the biological cell. Here we have studied high density EUV plasma and its emission characteristics, which have been generated by plasma focus device with hypercycloidal pinch (HCP) electrode under various Ar gas pressures ranged from 30~500 mTorr in this experiment. We have also measured the plasma characteristics generated from the HCP plasma focus device such as electron temperature by the Boltzman plot, plasma density by the Stark broading method, discharge images by open-shuttered pin hole camera, and EUV emission signals by using the photodiode AXUV-100 Zr/C.

  • Two-dimensional mesoscopic analysis (meso-analysis) is applied to solids including microdefects such as microcracks or holes. For the problem of effective moduli of microdefrcted solids, various approximate schemes are introduced by using microcrack density and hole density for macro level parameter. Also, microcracks distributed in the parallel direction and random direction are considered. Several numerical studies using meso-analysis are carried out and the results are compared with several approximate schemes in order to show the validity of proposed meso-analysis.

  • In this paper, the Thermal behavior and reliability characteristics of carbon CCL (Copper Claded Layer), which can be used as the core of HDI (High Density Interconnection) PCB (Printed Circuit Board) are evaluated through experiments and numerical analysis using CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) software. For the characterization of the carbon CCL, it is compared with the conventional FR-4 core and Heavy Cu core. From research results, the deformation amount of the flexure strength of PCB is the highest with pitch grade carbon and thermal behavior of PCB is lowest as temperature increases. In addition, TC (Thermal Cycling), LLTS (Liquid-to-Liquid Thermal Shock) and Humidity tests have been applied in the PCB with carbon core and the reliability of PCB with carbon core is confirmed through reliability tests. Also, possibility of uneven surface of the via hole and wear of the drill bit due to the carbon fibers are analyzed. surface of the via hole is uniform, the surface of the drill bit is smooth. Therefore, it is proved that the carbon CCL has the drilling workability of the same level as conventional core material.

  • Today the welding for LNG carrier is known to be possible using arc and plasma arc welding process. But because of the lower energy density, arc welding is inevitable to multi-pass welding for thick plate and has a limit of welding speed compared to laser which is high energy density heat source. When thick plate is welded, weld defect by multi-pass welding and heat-affected zone by high heat-input were formed. Therefore one-pass welding by key-hole has been considered to work out the problems. It is possible for Laser, electron beam, plasma process to do key-hole welding. Nowadays, plasma process has been used for welding membrane of cargo tank for LNG carrier instead of arc process. Recently, many studies have examined to apply laser process to welding of membrane. In this paper, weldability, microstructure and mechanical properties of stainless steel for LNG carrier welded by fiber laser were compared to those by plasma. As a result, although the laser welding has several times faster speed, similar properties and smaller weld and heat affected zone were obtained. Consequently, this study proves the superiority of fiber laser welding for LNG carrier.

Grain Boundary Trap Levels in ZnO-based Varistor (ZnO계 바리스터의 입계포획준위)

  • The trap levels of ZnO-based varistor are obtained by Isothermal Capacitance Transient Spectroscopy method. Here ICTS measuring system consists of YHP 4192A Impedance Analyzer and a personal computer for the data acquisition. Between $-40^{\circ}C$ and $60^{\circ}C$, the grain boundary trap levels of 0.48 and 0.94eV were detected for $ZnO-Bi_2O_3-MnO$ system. The hole omission spectra are observed in the case of the addition of CoO into the $ZnO-Bi_2O_3$ system, while the electron emission spectra are detected in the case of the addition of MnO. The nonlinear resistance coefficient $\alpha$ increases with the decrease of the dormer concentration. Finally, the trap level density of $ZnO-Bi_2O_3-MnO$ system is found to decrease with the amount of CoO, while $\alpha$ is found to increase with the amount of CoO.

Research about Spec and Uniformity of Commercial Indirect Moxibustion (상용 간접구의 규격과 품질균일성에 대한 조사)

  • Objectives : Burn is most common adverse events of moxibustion. Various kinds of components influence on the heat stimulation of commercial indirect moxa, but there are not enough investigation about the status. The purpose of this study is to investigate the 6 components to build a base data that is currently available to build a standard of an indirect moxibustion. Methods : The length and weight, density, thickness of the paper disk, diameter of the paper disk, and diameter in the paper disk hole were measured against 6 kinds of commercial indirect cautery. Results : 1. 'Seoam', 'Kihwang' and 'Taegeuk' shows uniform length than the other brands. 2. 'Dongbang', 'Kihwang' and 'Taegeuk' shows uniform weight than the other brands. 3. 'Dongbang', 'Kihwang' and 'Taegeuk' shows uniform density than the other brands. 4. 'Dongbang' and 'Kihwang' shows uniform thickness than the other brands. 5. 'Seoam', 'Dongbang' and 'Taegeuk' shows uniform diameter of disc hole than the other brands. Conclusions : As a result of investigation, 'Dongbang' and 'Kiwhang' indirect moxibustion was identified as a uniform product. This results are considered as an important base materials of the KS through commercial indirect moxibustion.

Structural and Electrical Properties of $CuGaS_2$ Thin Films ($CuGaS_2$ 반도체 박막의 구조적 및 전기적 특성)

  • Single phase CuGaS$_2$ thin film with the highest diffraction peak of (112) at diffraction angle (2$\theta$) of 28.8$^{\circ}$ was made at substrate temperature of 7$0^{\circ}C$, annealing temperature of 35$0^{\circ}C$ and annealing time of 60 min. And second highest (204) peak was shown at diffraction angle (2$\theta$) of 49.1$^{\circ}$. Lattice constant of a and c of that CuGaS$_2$ thin film was 5.37 $\AA$ and 10.54 $\AA$ respectively. The greatest grain size of the thin film was about 1${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The (112) peak of single phase of CuGaS$_2$ thin film at annealing temperature of 35$0^{\circ}C$ with excess S supply was appeared with a little higher about 10 % than that of no exces S supply And the resistivity, mobility and hole density at room temperature of p-type CuGaS$_2$ thin film with best crystalline was 1.4 $\Omega$cm, 15 cm2/V . sec and 2.9$\times$10$^{17}$ cm$^{-3}$ respectively. It was known that carrier concentration had considerable effect than mobility on variety of resistivity of the fabricated CuGaS$_2$ thin film, and the polycrystalline CuGaS$_2$ thin films were made at these conditions were all p-type.
