In this paper, we propose a new relevance feedback algorithm using Probabilistic Neural Networks(PNN) while supporting multi-class learning. Then, to validate the effectiveness of our feedback approach, we incorporate the proposed algorithm into our region-based image retrieval tool, FRIP(Finding Regions In the Pictures). In our feedback approach, there is no need to assume that feature vectors are independent, and as well as it allows the system to insert additional classes for detail classification. In addition, it does not have a long computation time for training because it only has four layers. In the PNN classification process, we store the user's entire past feedback actions as a history in order to improve performance for future iterations. By using a history, our approach can capture the user's subjective intension more precisely and prevent retrieval performance errors which originate from fluctuating or degrading in the next iteration. The efficacy of our method is validated using a set of 3000 images derived from a Corel-photo CD.
This thesis examines the origin, the change and the symbolic meanings of class representation, and offers a comparative study on the differences of class representation in the history of Korean and western costume on the basis of class representation methods and types shown from ancient times to 18C. In both eastern and western costume, the differences in status are commonly represented in the width and length of costume, color, textile, ornamental design, wearing, decoration, etc. The costume of noble class was wide and long, while that of common class was narrow and short so that it could be convenient for them to move around. Especially, from 16C to 18C in the west the costume of noble class was expanded to the extent that it was inconvenient for them to move around not only by skirt swelling by using hoop, but also by pad, ruff, lace, etc. This appears to show that they are not working class. Wearing and decoration of noble class were much more colorful, complicated and varied, while those of common class were simple and plain. In the west, the wearing of chiton and toga in Greece and Rome was different depending on social status. More specific look at the differences in class representation shown in the eastern and western costume reveals that the higher the rank, the more the women in both Gothic and Chosun period covered the body, thereby representing rank. In 18C, the women in both Rococo and Chosun period commonly showed excessive decoration and lavishness on their hair, and in this period the width of skirt was also commonly expanded to the longest extent, with a slight difference put aside.
The purpose of mathematics education includes two important areas; cognitive area that emphasizes mathematical knowledge and understanding and affective area that stresses mathematical interest and attitude. The purpose of mathematics education is not only in acquiring the contents and knowledge but also rousing up interest and attention toward mathematics. Therefore, effort to accomplish this affective purpose has to be made. Introducing history of mathematics to teaching can be a important method for the students to arouse interest and attention toward mathematics. History of mathematics can help the students who are familiar to only manipulation of the symbols to develop a new way of thinking and mathematical thoughts arousing reflective thinking. According to the survey, although the effect of using mathematics history has been recognized, the mathematics history has neither been developed as teaching materials nor reflected in the courses of study. The purpose of this research is to develop the reading materials into suit for the mathematics curriculum to extract contents of the mathematics valuable in using in elementary mathematics teaching, and to investigate the effect of reading materials using the history of mathematics on learning attitude in elementary school. The way of developing materials in this study is as follows. First, to select the interesting and instructive subject for the elementary students such as the story and life of a mathematician, developmental stages of mathematical theory and calculation currently used and finding the patterns of the rules that requires mathematical thoughts. Second, to classify the selected items according to mathematics curriculum. Third, to reorganize the classified items of the appropriate grade with the reading materials of dialogue pattern in order to draw attention and interest from the students I developed 18 kinds materials in accordance with the above procedure and applied 5 materials among them to one class in 4th grade. Analysing the student's responses, First, using history of mathematics helps the students to arouse interest and confidence on mathematical learning attitude. And the students became better attitude of studying by oneself and attention on class. Second, as know by opinions after lesson, most students have a chance refresh one's thinking of mathematics, want to know the other content of history of mathematics and responded to study hard in mathematics. As a result, the reading materials on the basis of the history of mathematics motivates students for mathematics and helps them become confident in mathematics. If the materials are complemented properly, they will be useful and effective for students and teachers.
The object of this study is upper class house in Yang-dong village with the purpose of spatial-sociological study of traditional Korean architecture. Space is the basic element of architecture and is fundamental for understanding architecture. Space, however, can be better understood through its social context rather than through its physical or psychological attributes. Space exists in a society, providing the physical environment which frames it Social environment affects the thoght of people who are members of that society. Space is built by the people in a society and is affected by their thought. Spatial-sociological study can explain a mutual relation between people and space through context. It defines characteristics of space based on mutual relations which exist among the people, the culture of society and the environment of society but also having a sociological component, study of architectural space should consider the social context. Since architectural space is built on social and cultural bases, to understand it requires various methods of study Spatial-sociological analysis is one alternative. Using space syntax, this study analyzes houses in Yang-dong village by not only defining attributes of individual houses, but also common attributes of houses in the village. Based on common attributes of houses in the village, the attributes of Yang-dong village houses can be re-defined within the social context. the results from a spatial-sociological analysis of upper class housing of the Yang-dong village are as follows; (1) Related to confucian ideas in Chosun Dynasty : A house has a dualistic center organized with 'an-chae' and 'sarang-chae'. 'an-chae' space is organized unsociably from outside. (2) Related to various space pattern of Yang-dong village House in the Chosun Dynasty period :As variations in the types of space pattern, the village house exhibit different attributes.
This study is focused on a space for man in upper classes house that is one of appeared characteristics as Korea, China and Japan imported Confucianism become common cultural base in these countries. Because a space for man in these countries has the same nature represented as a typical space in a upper classes house, and this space is differentiated by regional features, a way of thinking, a way of life and social structure as well, these characteristics are compared one another. Import of Confucianism influenced formation of a upper classes house and the spaces of the house are divided by generation, sexuality and classes. A space for man become a center of the house as well as a space for reception in accordance with patriarchism because this space stands for hierarchy of the house. A space for man of each country, Korea, China and Japan, has differences; that is, Chinese Jeongbang is used as a space for family as well as for guests; Korean Sarangchae is for only men and used as a reception space; Japanese Zasiki is used just for reception. These differences among countries are caused by owner's class, a civil officer or a military officer, and this class differentiated the characteristics of reception for guest. Even though the these countries take the space for man for meeting, Chinese is for family, Korean is for ancestors and Japanese is for guests.

The effects of learning using Information Communication Technology(ICT) on the students' scientific inquiry ability and science-related affective characteristics were analyzed in Earth History and Crust Movement units of science textbook for eighth graders. For this study, two classes of middle school second students in Chung-nam were selected and taught for six week under different teaching methods. One class is the test class taught with ICT applied teaching materials and the other class is the control class instructed by a conventional method. One week before the experiment, both classes were given tests on scientific inquiry ability and science-related affective characteristics, and they were tested again after the experiment. The results of scientific inquiry test showed statistically meaningful differences in the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class showed statistically meaningful difference in scientific inquiry test. Science-related affective characteristics test showed no statistically meaningful difference in the experimental class. Among three scientific science-related affective characteristics, especially the one fields of interests showed statistically meaningful differences which suggest that learning using ICT has a positive effect on the expanding of students' science-related affective characteristics.

The purpose of the study is to construct a History Ontology Model for historical person to analyse issues of Korean History Thesaurus and interview history specialists who are use information systems in National Institute of Korean History. This study verifies the difference between both descriptions through comparative analysis of term concept in Korean History Thesaurus and mind-map written by history major. Based on this, we build history ontology model to meet users' information needs and adapt to information retrieval system. First, to organize unique features of history, we define class and attribute and then enlisted considerations for instance input. The study suggests a possibility of new service through combination multiple features using concept extension that is a strength of ontology.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the utilization of history of science and STEAM and the elementary school teachers' perceptions about design-based STEAM instruction applying the history of science in science class. To research the utilization of the history of science and STEAM in elementary science class, educational value of design-based STEAM instruction applying the history of science, the questionnaire was revised based on research conducted by Lee & Shin(2014), Park et al.(2010), Shin & Han(2011) and developed questionnaire a total of 20 questions. It was administered to reply the questionnaire to 201 teachers of elementary school in D and G area. The results of this study were as follows: elementary school teachers did not teach actively the history of science, made it read students by simply introducing himself. They did not teach actively STEAM due to not enough time(busy to take a magnitude). They were difficult to teach, but the most focused on the 'Creative Problem-solving' process. And elementary school teachers perceived positively about the educational value of design-based STEAM instruction applying the history of science. Especially, they perceived that it can help elementary school students find a hint for solving the problem through examples of cases of scientific principles and a scientist. In conclusion, it implicates that it is need to regard elementary school teachers' perceptions on application of the history of science and STEAM, and develop specific design-based STEAM program applying the history of science in order to be applied successfully in elementary school for the STEAM settlement.
Dynamic strain history curve measured in the field is influenced by various factors such as vehicle type, speed, noise, temperature and running location etc.. Because such curve is used for vehicle weight estimation methodology suggested by Moses, exact strain history curve is the most important thing for exact estimation of vehicle weight. In this paper, effect of such factors mentioned above is investigated on the measured strain history curves, and results of weight estimation of vehicles are discussed quantitatively. From this study, it was known that temperature effect contained in the strain history curve measured for long time in-site gives the biggest effect on result of weight estimation and it can be removed by using the mode value. Furthermore, gross vehicle weight can be estimated within 5% error corresponding to A class of the European classification if effects of temperature and noise are removed and vehicle properties such as speed, axle arrangement and running location are considered properly.
Background: When we make treatment plan of class III malocclusion children, it is difficult to determine whether we treat it with orthognathic surgery or without orthognathic surgery. To determine that, we must consider many factors, such as cephalometric analysis, growth pattern, family history, and skeletal age. A Harvold cephalometric analysis is useful in determining the amount of discrepancy by comparing the maxillary unit length with mandibular, unit length. We tried this study to help the decision of treatment planning in class ill malocclusion children by comparison in class III malocclusion and normal occlusion children using a Harvold analysis. Materials and Methods: The materials for this study consisted of 20 class III malocclusion children. Cephalometric tracing and measurements were performed by one investigator. The control group consisted of 18 normal occlusion children and lateral cephalograms were obtained from 8.5 to 14.5 years old children biannually. The relationships between class III malocclusion group and normal occlusion group were evaluated statistically. Results: The lower anterior facial heights between two groups were not significantly different, although the lower anterior facial heights of class III malocclusion group was higher than those of normal occlusion group in all age groups. The Maxillary-mandibular unit length differences of class III malocclusion group were significantly higher than those of normal occlusion group(p<0.05). Conclusion: A Harvold analysis was useful to make treatment planning for class III malocclusion children.
