  • The Jik-ji has been proved as the oldest historical property in the world. And Now we are trying to make Jik-Ji as the representative cultural brand of Chung-buk. This paper analysed deterministic factors of the total satisfaction and consumption expenditure at the Jik-JI Festival, based on econometric method. We obtained several results. As expected we got positive relation between economic variable like income and satisfaction - expenditure of participants, but we didn't get anticipated results from demographic variables. Or so, men have high degree of satisfaction and expenditure, compared to women. But participants from outside Chung-buk had negative relations to satisfaction and expenditure of the event. Therefore, in order to develop Jik-Ji Festival as world-wide festival, it is necessary to build long term master plan and public organization of Jik-Ji Festival.

  • How can new media devices and networks provide an effective response to the world's growing sector of cultural and historically-minded travelers? This study emerged from the question of how mobile handsets can change the nature of cultural and historical tourism in ubiquitous city environments. As wireless network and mobile IT have rapidly developed, it becomes possible to deliver cultural and historical information on the site through mobile handset as a tour guidance system. The paper describes the development of a new type of mobile tourism platform for site-specific cultural and historical information. The central objective of the project was to organize this cultural and historical walking tour around the mobile handset and its unique advantages (i.e. portability, multi-media capacity, access to wireless internet, and location-awareness potential) and then integrate the tour with a historical story and role-playing game that would deepen the mobile user's interest in the sites being visited, and enhance his or her overall experience of the area. The project was based on twelve locations that were culturally and historically significant to Korean War era in Busan. After the mobile tour game prototype was developed for this route, it was evaluated at the 10th PIFF (Pusan International Film Festival). After use test, some new strategies for developing mobile "edutainment content" to deliver cultural historical contents of the location were discussed. Combining 'edutainment' with a cultural and historical mobile walking tour brings a new dimension to existing approaches of the tourism and mobile content industry.

  • This study examines the legend of 'Grandmother Seolmundae and Five Hundred Generals', the cultural archetypes of Jeju, and analyzes the characteristics of its contents. After analyzing the feasibility of using the analyzed cultural prototype as cultural contents such as games and animations, based on this analysis, we tried to suggest a cultural planning approach based on the cultural prototype to the cultural agency. Therefore, the implications of this study are as follows. First, among the cultural prototypes in Korea, 'Grandmother Seolmundae and Five Hundred Generals', which represent the legends of Jeju Island, are being organized centered on many historical researchers and Chaerokga, but there is no precise establishment of the exact timing of the legend and how it arose. Therefore, when planning and developing content based on the cultural prototype, it is most important for cultural agencies to develop a story after researching historical evidence and opinions of local residents to identify a consistent point of view. Second, although the contents of the cultural archetype are arranged slightly differently by historians and recorders, the main contents and characteristics of the story are found to have a similar form. Therefore, cultural agencies should focus on finding the point of view and characteristics of a story, even if a story is written differently by different people when doing a cultural prototype. Third, when planning a game based on the cultural prototype, the main elements such as the elements to be expressed in the game and the fun elements should be found and presented. In particular, because fun and rules are the most important parts of games, if this part cannot be derived from the story of the cultural archetype or cannot be made, it is difficult to transform the cultural archetype into a game. Therefore, it can be seen that it is important for cultural agencies to set their game plan intentions in consideration of story expression and fun, even if it is the core or non-core of the entire story of the cultural archetype. Lastly, although the cultural prototype 'Grandmother Seolmundae and Five Hundred Generals' was presented as animation content, it is important to develop it considering the story, characters, media, and audience. Therefore, cultural agencies should be able to derive the elements such as stories, representative and auxiliary characters, and viewers that can be adapted from the cultural prototype as much as possible. It will be an important part of raising.

In order to resolve this problem, it is needed for local museums to differentiate their spaces and programs related to their exhibition. Thus, the purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of spaces and programs of local museums from the perspective of spatial marketing to activate them, and contribute to development of local cultures. This study targeted historical public museums located in Seoul and Incheon. Through preceding research, an analysis frame was established based on the keywords related to spatial marketing, and then the characteristics of spaces and programs of local museums were analyzed based on the frame. The study results are as follows. 1) Access convenience refers to openness that public museums located in Seoul and Incheon can embrace accessible locations, points of interest, and convenient facilities easily recognized by pedestrians. 2) Symbolic formativeness is to express symbolic historical contents in the museum lobby or exhibition to show the identity of local museums. 3) Visibility is needed for direct guidance signs or spaces to let spectators know directions and locations. 4) Public concern is for spectators and local residents to participate in local museums to share and utilize their partial spaces. 5) Interactivity is to induce activation of local museums by utilizing experience exhibition contents and having spectators directly contact exhibits. 6) Interest is related to cultural festival programs of exhibition to arouse spectators' and local residents' curiosity. 7) Participation is to activate spaces and spectators by providing educational programs. 8) Usefulness is to induce spectators' interest in local museums by providing historical, social, and cultural information. These results are expected to be used as baseline data to suggest a new direction for activation of local museums from the perspective of spatial marketing.

  • In comparison to the services provided by the typical information systems, the historical records from the period before the modern times require additional information services to reflect the format and content oriented peculiarities of the data. The additional services also need to be considered in light of the users' information needs. For this study, a series of literature reviews was conducted to present the specific analysis criteria for the historical information services. Based on these criteria, the domestic and foreign historical information service provision and use status was investigated. In addition, users' information needs were identified and user-based historical information service improvement suggestions were generated.

  • In this paper, we present the results of research on the reconstruction of ancient routes of ancient civilization exchange that were once present in the North Jeolla region, which was undertaken by adopting a convergent approach to develop 'Silkroadpia', which is an online platform for the curation and sharing of archaeological and historical spatial data, and 'MEPTA(Multiple Evidence Based Path and Territory Finding Algorithm)'. The results of the research make it possible to reconsider the region's historical identity and its important role in facilitating cultural exchange on the Korean Peninsula and in East Asia. The results can also be used to provide the theoretical basis for the government's land planning policies and for the production of cultural contents that can be used for local regeneration. The ancient route associated with the Baekje Restoration Movement, that took place after the fall of Sabi in 660 CE, was the case study examined in this paper, which discusses the academic value of reconstructing the ancient route, as well as its future use in providing cultural contents.
