The research direction of the automobile industry worldwide is speeding up research to improve fuel efficiency through weight reduction as the weight of automobiles increases due to environmental problems, convenience demands, and safety problems. As a way to solve weight reduction, there is a method of improving mechanical properties by improving the development and manufacturing method of lightweight materials with replaceable mechanical properties. Therefore, research on the molding and processing technology of aluminum, which is a lightweight material, is being actively conducted. In this study, aluminum material was applied. By using Autoform S/W, a press forming analysis program, the blank holding force, mold die R, and bead restraint force were selected in three levels, respectively, and the results and optimization of formability and shape freezing were carried out. In this study, aluminum material was applied. By using Autoform S/W, a press molding analysis program, the blank holding force, mold die R, and bead restraint force were selected in three levels, respectively, and the results and optimization of formability and shape freezing were carried out. The optimized results were confirmed by comparative analysis of formability and Spring Back. As a result of the experiment, it was possible to confirm the result value of the Spring Back of the final product according to the tensile change of the material.
Recently, offshore structures for eco-friendly energy, such as wind and solar power, have been developed to address the problem of insufficient land space; in the case of energy generation, they are designed on a considerable scale. Therefore, the scalability of offshore structures is crucial. The Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering (KRISO) developed multi-linked floating offshore structures composed of floating bodies and connection beams for floating photovoltaic systems. Large-scale floating photovoltaic systems are mainly designed in a manner that expands through the connection between modules and demonstrates a difference in structural response with connection conditions. A fluid-structure coupled analysis was performed for the multi-linked floating offshore structures. First, the wave load acting on the multi-linked offshore floating structures was calculated through wave load analysis for various wave load conditions. The response amplitude operators (RAOs) for the motions and structural response of the unit structure were calculated by performing finite element analysis. The effects of connection conditions were analyzed through comparative studies of RAOs and the response's maximum magnitude and occurrence location. Hence, comparing the cases of a hinge connection affecting heave and pitch motions and a fixed connection, the maximum bending stress of the structure decreased by approximately 2.5 times, while the mooring tension increased by approximately 20%, confirmed to be the largest change in bending stress and mooring tension compared to fixed connection. Therefore, the change in structural response according to connection condition makes it possible to design a higher structural safety of the structural member through the hinge connection in the construction of a large-scale multi-linked floating offshore structure for large-scale photovoltaic systems in which some unit structures are connected. However, considering the tension of the mooring line increases, a safety evaluation of the mooring line must be performed.
In this paper, structural analysis of High-Speed railway vertical tunnel structures was performed to verify the structural stability. The corrugated steel plate method was applied to the vertical tunnel structures for its simple construction method and low cost. The structural stability of Wall, Connection and Storage section was performed with LRFD and ASD design method at joint part, buckling, stress and plastic hinge. From the results, all of vertical tunnel structures shown the structural stability regardless of design method and structure types. So, the application of corrugated steel plate in vertical tunnel structures instead of cast-in-placed concrete was quite enough.

The reinforced concrete beam-column connections are in lack of constructability and are likely to show anchorage failure because of the complex details of joint regions. Under seismic loads, a destruction of the column or the beam-column joint leads to collapse of the whole structures. For this reason, the safety of structures has to be guaranteed by following procedures which are based on the strong column-weak beam design concept: 1) failure of beam by generating plastic hinge in the beam maintained a certain distance from the surface of column, 2) failure of column or beam-column joint. In this study, headed bars were used as longitudinal reinforcements of beam and joint reinforcements in order to improve the strength and constructability of joint and to relocate plastic hinge. The finite element analyses (FEAs) were performed to the reinforced concrete beam-column joints utilizing headed bar reinforcements. To verify the availability of the analysis models, the FEAs for experimental tests performed by previous researchers were conducted and compared with the experimental results. Additional variables are also considered to confirm the excellence of headed bars. Analysis results indicate that the constructability of beam-column connections can be improved by using headed bars for the full anchorage of longitudinal reinforcements of beam under similar structural performance. In addition, the plastic hinge was relocated to the intended place by using headed bars as joint reinforcements. Under cyclic displacement loading, the energy dissipation capacity and ultimate stress were increased and the decrease in stiffness was minimized.
An energy-based approach for determining earthquake safety of reinforced concrete frame structures is presented. The developed approach is based on comparison of plastic energy capacities of the structures with plastic energy demands obtained for selected earthquake records. Plastic energy capacities of the selected reinforced concrete frames are determined graphically by analyzing plastic hinge regions with the developed equations. Seven earthquake records are chosen to perform the nonlinear time history analyses. Earthquake plastic energy demands are determined from nonlinear time history analyses and hysteretic behavior of earthquakes is converted to monotonic behavior by using nonlinear moment-rotation relations of plastic hinges and plastic axial deformations in columns. Earthquake safety of selected reinforced concrete frames is assessed by using plastic energy capacity graphs and earthquake plastic energy demands. The plastic energy dissipation capacities of the frame structures are examined whether these capacities can withstand the plastic energy demands for selected earthquakes or not. The displacements correspond to the mean plastic energy demands are obtained quite close to the displacements determined by using the procedures given in different seismic design codes.

This paper describes the behavior and failure probability of the basic structural members in a fire for the fire safety assessment of offshore structures. A fire safety assessment can be accomplished by comparing the fire resistance of the members with the fire severity of the heat load due to fire. The fire severity is represented as the maximum temperature of the members using the Eurocode 1 standard fire curve and heat transfer equation. On the other hand, the fire resistance is the limiting temperature calculated by a simplified formula in the case of simple structural members. Considering the complexity of FPSOs and offshore structures, a general-purpose structural analysis program should be used and the limiting temperature obtained by analyzing the structural strength of the members through an elasto-plastic analysis with a large deflection, and compared with the maximum temperature. Also, the equality of these two methods of evaluating the fire resistance was confirmed by comparing them. Following three criteria, the strength, serviceability and stability, three failure modes, namely the first failure of a hinge, large deflection and buckling, were chosen. The failure temperature was verified for each failure mode. using the AFOSM method in the equation of the fire severity and fire resistance, thereby giving the failure probability of the member. By applying these processes to the example of a beam and plate, the behavior of the structure and failure (temperature?) of each failure mode can be determined.

Under earthquake loads, the columns on the lower stories carry large axial forces and horizontal forces as the earthquake loads are acting horizontally and vertically on the building. To distribute the energy entered into the building under earthquakes according to the plastic deformation of the members, it is safer and more economic to persuade plastic hinge to occur in the beams rather than on the columns. However, it is unavoidable to have plastic hinge occurring on the columns when it is applied on both of the main axes of the building, which results in high shear force on the column end, and reinforced concrete column may result in sudden brittle failure due to bending moment and shear force. To increase restriction of the reinforced concrete column on the horizontal forces, this study uses repetitive loading experiments with different amount of shear reinforcement, and analyzes and compares the structural safety and behaviour of the reinforced test materials.
The earthquake characteristic assessment of social overhead facilities would be an important examination issue for seismic capacity enhancement. This study is intended to reasonably evaluate the structural behavior of longperiod frame structures considering near-fault and far-fault earthquake characteristics. Elastic/inelastic time history analyses were performd by selecting the objective structure which can precisely reflect the effect of input ground motion. Based on the result of numerical analysis, we have investigated response aspects of shear force, moment, acceleration and displacement according to earthquake characteristics. Moreover, in order to understand the inelastic behavior of the objective structure, we have analyzed and compared collapse modes by considering the occurrence process of plastic hinges. The outcome of this research is expected to provide the basic information for the seismic safety assessment of long-period frame structures.
Masonry walls which are commonly used for partitions in low-rise reinforced concrete (RC) structures, can be easily exposed to high risks under strong earthquakes. Since the strength degradations cannot be protected under the ground motions, their applications cannot be recommended for building structures which are designed to possess high seismic performances. However, masonry-infilled walls are typically considered as non-structural elements in evaluating the seismic performance of building structures. In order to figure out this problem, this study performed experiments using two specimens-only RC frame and RC frame infilled with masonry walls- under static loading. Also, the study established analytical models representing fully infilled frames and bare frame, and compared their structural behavior with test results. In addition, analytical model representing partially infilled frames was established and analyzed. Test results indicated that strength and energy dissipating capacity were increased for IW-RN(fully infilled frames) compared to the NW(bare frame). The nonlinear static analysis of the three specimens was also conducted using the inelastic plastic hinge frame element and diagonal strut models, and the analytical results successfully simulated the nonlinear behaviour of the specimens in accordance with the test results.

Bus manufacturers have tested and studied the dynamic collapse behavior of a bus body structure in rollover since UN ECE established ECE Regulation 66 to provide the requirement for the strength of bus structure. In spite of the costly cycles of practical tests, however, it is still a hard task to meet the rollover regulation by means of local reinforcements in the bus structure. Therefore it is necessary to develop a well designed strategy for the rollover strength implemented in the early stage of vehicle development. In this study, the suitable development method for each design stage from a component to complete body structure was considered to make a well-established development process of a bus body structure for rollover safety. For the efficient approach of the concept design stage, a numerical model based on the plastic hinge theory was used instead of detailed shell models. After setting up the concept design for the component size and geometry, the shell model was used to confirm and optimize the whole structure composition. The process developed in this study was practically used as an effective method to predict the rollover behavior of a new bus body structure.
