고농도 산소가 덧셈과제 수행능력과 생리신호에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Highly Concentrated Oxygen Administration on Addition Task Performance and Physiological Signals)

  • 본 연구에서는 40% 농도의 산소 공급이 난이도에 따른 덧셈과제 수행 능력, 혈중 산소 포화도, 심박동율의 변화에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 관찰하였다. 10명의 남자와 10명의 여자 대학생이 두 가지 농도의 산소 (21%, 40%)를 흡입하면서 세 가지 난이도의 덧셈연산을 수행하였다. Rest1 (3분), Task1 (1분, 한 자리 수 덧셈), Task2 (1분, 두 자리 수 덧셈), Task3 (1분, 세 자리 수 덧셈), Rest2 (4분)의 순서로 실험이 진행되었고, 모든 구간에서 혈중 산소 포화도와 심박동율이 측정되었다. 21%에 비해 40% 농도의 산소를 공급했을 때 평균 정답률이 증가하였고, 난이도가 증가할수록 정답율의 차이가 더컸다. 21%에 비해 40%의 산소가 주어질 때 모든 구간에서 혈중 산소 포화도는 증가하였고, 심박동율은 감소하였다. 결론적으로 고농도 산소 공급이 혈중 산소 포화도를 증가시켜 인지 처리에 따른 뇌 활성화를 촉진시킬 수 있고 이로 인해 연산 수행 능력이 증가되었다는 사실을 도출 할 수 있다. 특히 난이도가 증가할수록, 즉 인지 처리의 요구가 커질수록 고농도 산소의 효과가 더 명확히 나타난다는 사실을 도출할 수 있다.

Chemically Modified Graphene and Their Hybrid Materials: Toward Printed Electronics

  • Chemically modified graphene has been great interest for the application of printed electronics using solution prossesable technique. Here, we demonstrate a large area graphene exfoliation method with fewer defects on the basal plane by application of shear stress in solution to obtain high quality reduced graphene oxide (RGO). Moreover, we introduce a novel route to preparing highly concentrated and conductive RGO in various solvents by monovalent cation-${\pi}$ interaction. Noncovalent binding forces can be induced between a monopole (cation) and a quadrupole (aromatic ${\pi}$ system). The stability of this RGO dispersion was more sensitive to the strength of the cation-${\pi}$ interactions than to the cation-oxygen functional group interactions. The RGO film prepared without a post-annealing process displayed superior electrical conductivity of 97,500 S/m. Our strategy can facilitate the development of large scalable production methods for preparing printed electronics made from high-quality RGO nanosheets.

Cathodic Stripping Voltammetry법에 의한 식물체 중 극미량 셀렌의 분석 (Determination of Traces of Selenium in Plant Materials by Cathodic Stripping Voltammetry)

  • Cathodic stripping voltammetric determination of traces of selenium in plant samples was studied. Stripping peak of selenium (IV) from Cu-Se intermettalic deposit in acidic media containing copper (II) ion is specific, highly sensitive and well defined, is successfully used for the quantitative determination of selenuin down to the level of 1ng/ml. Sample is burnt in a calorimeter bomb under the oxygen pressure of 40atm. and the selenium is absorbed in 0.1M NaOH. After the solution is filtrated, concentrated and acidified with HCl, then passed through a column of cation exchange resin in the $H^{+}$ form(Dowex 50X-8). The column eluate is analyzed for selenium by differential pulse cathodic stripping voltammetric method. Analytical results of selenium for NBS SMR is well agreement with the certified values. Results are given for a series of plant materials.

  • Partial nitirification and denitrification process has been reported to be technically feasible and economically favorable, especially for wastewater treatment with high ammonium concentration or low Carbon/Nitrogen ratio. This research was performed to survey nitrite accumulation by nitritation in treating ADEPT effluent of piggery wastewater, which contains highly concentrated ammonia. To estimate the possibility of nitrite accumulation, DO concentration and SRT were investigated as key operational parameters. This result proved that nitritation to nitrite was steadily obtained under short sludge retention time. Oxygen limitation was proved to be just a subsidiary parameter. Energy efficiency of nitritation-denitritation process was higher than complete nitrification-denitrification because external carbon requirement for denitritation could be saved. Though the influent contained significant nonbiodegradable organic substrate, total nitrogen removal efficiency was more than 51% in nitritation-denitritation system.

  • Highly concentrated p-type ZnO thin films can be obtained by doping of N, P and As elements. In this study, undoped ZnO buffer layers were prepared on a (0001) sapphire substrate by a ultra high vaccum pulsed laser deposition(UHV-PLD) method. ZnO buffer layers were deposited with various deposition temperature($400{\sim}700^{\circ}C$) at 350 mtorr of oxygen working pressure. Arsenic doped(1 wt%) ZnO thin films were deposited on the ZnO buffer layers by UHV-PLD. Crystallinity of the samples were evaluated by X-ray diffractometer and scanning electron microscopy. Optical, electrical properties of the ZnO thin films were estimated by photoluminescence(PL) and Hall measurements. The optimal condition of the undoped ZnO buffer layer for the deposition of As-doped ZnO thin films was at $600^{\circ}C$ of deposition temperature.

Waste treatment with the pilot scale ATAD and EGSB pig slurry management system followed by sequencing batch treatment

  • Experiments for highly concentrated contaminants in pig waste slurry were carried out for the feasibility test of a pilot-scale innovative process scheme of engaging autothermal thermophilic aerobic digestion (ATAD) and expended granular sludge bed (EGSB) followed by sequencing batch reactor (SBR) system. Contaminants in pig waste slurry such as organic substance, total nitrogen (TN), ammonia nitrogen and total phosphorus (TP) contents were successfully reduced in the system. Total volatile solids (TVS) and chemical oxygen demands (COD) for organic matter in the feed were 32.92 g/L and 42.55 g/L respectively, and they were reduced by about 98.7% and 99.2%, respectively in the system. The overall removal efficiencies for TN and ammonium nitrogen were found to be 98.1 and 98.5%, respectively. The overall removal efficiency for total phosphorus was also found to be 92.5%. Faecal coliform density was reduced to <$1.2{\times}10^4CFU/g$ total solids. Biogas and $CH_4$ were produced in the range of 0.39-0.85 and $0.25-0.62m^3/kg$ [VS removed], respectively. The biogas produced in the system comprised of $295{\pm}26ppm$ (v/v) [$H_2S$].

Fed-Batch Sorbose Fermentation Using Pulse and Multiple Feeding Strategies for Productivity Improvement

  • Microbial oxidation of D-sorbitol to L-sorbose by Acetobacter suboxydans is of commercial importance since it is the only biochemical process in vitamin C synthesis. The main bottleneck in the batch oxidation of sorbitol to sorbose is that the process is severely inhibited by sorbitol. Suitable fed-batch fermentation designs can eliminate the inherent substrate inhibition and improve sorbose productivity. Fed-batch sorbose fermentations were conducted by using two nutrient feeding strategies. For fed-batch fermentation with pulse feeding, highly concentrated sorbitor (600g/L) along with other nutrients were fed intermittently in four pulses of 0.5 liter in response to the increased DO signal. The fed-batch fermentation was over in 24h with a sorbose productivity of 13.40g/L/h and a final sorbose concentration of 320.48g/L. On the other hand, in fed-batch fermentation with multiple feeds, two pulse feeds of 0.5 liter nutrient medium containing 600g/L sorbitol was followed by the addition of 1.5 liter nutrient medium containing 600g/L sorbitol at a constant feed rate of 0.36L/h till the full working capacity of the reactor. The fermentation was completed in 24h with an enhanced sorbose productivity of 15.09g/L/h and a sorbose concentration of 332.60g/L. The sorbose concentration and productivity obtained by multiple feeding of nutrients was found to be higher than that obtained by pulse feeding and was therefore a better strategy for fed-batch sorbose fermentation.

Treatment of Oily Wastewater with WPO and CWO

  • Petroleum refining unavoidably generates large volumes of oily wastewater. The environmentally acceptable disposal of oily wastewater is a current challenge to the petroleum industry. Nowadays, more attentions have been focused on the treatment techniques of oily wastewater. Oily wastewater contained highly concentrated and toxic organic compounds. Wet peroxide oxidation (WPO) and catalytic wet oxidation (CWO) were applied to eliminate pollutants to examine the feasibility of the WPO/CWO of oily wastewater. The results indicated that more than 80% chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal from oily wastewater was achieved with CWO. Homogenous catalyst, $NaHCO_3$ and $Na_2CO_3$ and NaOH showed effective removal for pollutants in oily wastewater. Greater than 90% COD removal was achieved with WPO. It was concluded that WPO was a far more effective process for oily wastewater.

  • 로켓 등급의 고농도 과산화수소는 촉매 분해를 통해 높은 온도의 산소와 수증기를 발생하며, 이와 같은 성질을 이용하여 우주 추진 기술로 사용된 바 있다. 본 연구에서는 과산화수소의 촉매 분해를 이용한 수중 추진 시스템 관련 문헌 조사 및 개념 설계를 진행했다. 과산화수소 분해 가스를 분사하는 분사기 설계의 경우 로켓 노즐 설계 방식과 유사하게 진행했으며, 두 종류의 형태로 엔진 설계를 진행했다. 환형의 형태의 가스 분사기를 갖는 엔진을 제작하여 수중 환경에서 작동 시험을 수행했으며, 엔진 노즐 출구의 면적에 따른 성능 변화를 관찰했다. 향후 중앙에서 가스를 분사하는 방식의 엔진을 제작하여 성능 평가를 수행할 예정이다.

DAF와 혼화응집공정을 이용한 현탁성 고형물 함유 유류 오염 지하수 처리 (Treatment of Contaminated Groundwater Containing Petroleum and Suspended Solids Using DAF and Mixed Coagulation Processes)

  • 석유계 탄화수소 화합물로 인한 토양과 지하수 오염은 환경과 건강에 영향을 미치는 주된 원인으로 제기되어 왔다. 이러한 오염물질들은 흡착포, 활성탄 또는 중력 방식의 유수분리 장치 등을 이용하여 처리하고 있다. 하지만 이러한 경우 자유상 유류(free product)로 존재하는 경우에는 효과적이나 에멀젼 상태의 유류는 제거할 수 없는 것으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 굴착시 예상되는 지하수의 고농도 현탁성 고형물로 인한 지하수 처리시 문제점과 TPH(Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon)를 어떻게 효율적으로 제거할 수 있는지 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 고분자 폴리머를 사용하여 혼화 응집 실험을 수행한 결과 5분 이내에 SS(Suspended Solids)와 COD(Chemical Oxygen Demand) 농도가 지하수 수질 기준을 만족하는 것을 나타났으나, TPH 농도는 방류수 수질 기준을 만족하지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. DAF(Dissolved Air Flotation) 실험 결과 단일 DAF 공정으로는 방류수 수질 기준을 만족하지는 못하였다. 단일 DAF 반응조를 이용하여 DAF와 혼화 응집 반응을 동시에 수행하는 경우 20분에 모든 기준을 만족하는 것으로 나타났다.
