Novel Method of ACO and Its Application to Rotor Position Estimation in a SRM under Normal and Faulty Conditions

  • In this paper a novel method of the Ant Colony Optimization algorithm for rotor position estimation in Switched Reluctance Motors is presented. The data provided by the initial assumptions is one of the important aspects used to solve the problems relative to an Ant Colony algorithm. Considering the nature of a real ant colony, it was found that the ants have no primary data for deducing which is the shortest path in their initial iteration. They also do not have the ability to see the food sources at a distance. According to this point of view, a novel method is presented in which the rotor pole position relative to the corresponding stator pole in a switched reluctance motor is estimated with high accuracy using the active and inactive phase parameters. This new method gives acceptable results such as a desirable convergence together with an optimized and stable response. To the best knowledge of the authors, such an analysis has not been carried out previously.

유도전동기 드라이브의 DTC를 위한 하이브리드 퍼지제어기 (Hybrid Fuzzy Controller for DTC of Induction Motor Drive)

  • An induction motor operated with a conventional direct self controller(DSC) shows a sluggish response during startup and under changes of torque command. Fuzzy logic controller(FLC) is used in conjection with DSC to minimize these problems. A FLC chooses the switching states based on a set of fuzzy variables. Flux position, error in flux magnitude and error in torque are used as fuzzy state variables. Fuzzy rules are determinated by observing the vector diagram of flux and currents. This paper proposes hybrid fuzzy controller for direct torque control(DTC) of induction motor drives. The speed controller is based on adaptive fuzzy learning controller(AFLC), which provide high dynamics performances both in transient and steady state response. Flux position, error in flux magnitude and error in torque are used as FLC state variables. The speed is estimated with model reference adaptive system(MRAS) based on artificial neural network(ANN) trained on-line by a back-propagation algorithm. This paper is controlled speed using hybrid fuzzy controller(HFC) and estimation of speed using ANN. The performance of the proposed induction motor drive with HFC controller and ANN is verified by analysis results at various operation conditions.

  • 최근 각종 산업기기 및 자동화기기에는 회전자가 영구자석으로 구성된 브러시리스 전동기의 사용이 증가하고 있다. 그러나 회전자가 영구자석으로 이루어진 BLDC전동기의 경우 회전자 위치 판별 센서는 필수 요소이다. PM BLDC 전동기의 속도제어를 수행함에 있어 기존의 엔코더와 Hall-IC 3개를 이용하지 않고, 2개의 Hall-IC로 3상 motor의 나머지 한상의 Hall-IC 신호를 추정하였다. 또한 사용된 PM BLDC motor는 고속속도를 가지는 특성을 가지고 있지만 Hall-IC를 이용하여 속초제어를 하기 때문에 속도의 오차 량이 상당히 크다는 단점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 이러한 단점을 개선하기 위해 저가의 PLL회로를 적용하였다. 또한 실험을 통하여 그 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • In this paper, robust control method using fuzzy PI parameter tuning is proposed to control constant thrust force on load variation. First, a structure and thrust force equations of the LPM are described. Second, an controller with PI parameter-tuning using a fuzzy theory is proposed to achieve high-precision position with constant thrust force of the LPM. Finally, the effectiveness of an fuzzy PI controller is demonstrated by some simulated and experimental results. Accurate tracking response and superior dynamic performance can be obtained due to the powerful on-line Fuzzy PI gain tuning method with regard parametric variations and load thrust force variations.

Optimum position for outriggers of different materials in a high- rise building

  • High-rise structures are considered as symbols of economic power and leadership. Developing countries like India are also emerging as centers for new high-rise buildings (HRB). As the land is expensive and scarce everywhere, construction of tall buildings becomes the best solution to resolve the problem. But, as building's height increases, its stiffness reduces making it more susceptible to vibrations due to wind and earthquake forces. Several systems are available to control vibrations or deflections; however, outrigger systems are considered to be the most effective systems in improving lateral stiffness and overall stability of HRB. In this paper, a 42-storey RCC HRB is analyzed to determine the optimum position of outriggers of different materials. The linear static analysis of the building is performed with and without the provision of virtual outriggers of reinforced cement concrete (RCC) and pre-stressed concrete (PSC) at different storey levels by response spectrum method using finite element based Extended3D Analysis of building System (ETABS) software for determining responses viz. storey displacement, base shear and storey drift for individual models. The maximum allowable limit and percentage variations in earthquake responses are verified using the guidelines of Indian seismic codes. Results indicate that the outriggers contribute in significantly reducing the storey displacement and storey drift up to 28% and 20% respectively. Also, it is observed that the PSC outriggers are found to be more efficient over RCC outriggers. The optimum location of both types of outriggers is found to be at the mid height of building.

  • Confocal scanning microscopy (CSM) has an important role as the three-dimensional profiler. An image distribution can be reconstructed by a correlation analysis of spots with the bandwidth of radio frequency. But it is a serious problem for the high performance to align the optical components. Especially, the parasitic motion of focus on the detector gives rise to the fatal distortion of an image profile named the extinction effect while using acousto-optical(AO) deflector. An image profile can be regenerated in CSM with many advantages of non-contact, high speed and high resolution comparatively. In addition to the axial response of the primary focus, the lateral movement of it gives a necessity of the unitary lens to the scanning system.   • As high precision industries such as semiconductor, TFT-LCD manufacturing and MEMS continue to grow, the demand for higher DOF precision stages has been increasing. In general, the stages should accommodate a prescribed range of payloads in order to position various precision manufacturing/inspection instruments. Therefore a nonlinear controller using sliding motion is developed, which bears mass perturbation and makes the upper plate of the stage move in 6 DOF. For the application of the nonlinear control, an observer is also developed based on expected noise covariance. To eliminate the steady state error of step response, integral terms are inserted into the state-space model. The linear term of the controller is designed using optimization scheme in which parameters can be weighted according to their physical significance, whereas the nonlinear term of the controller is designed using trial and error method. A comprehensive simulation study proves that the designed controller is robust against mass perturbation and completely eliminates steady state errors.

  • In shipbuilding industry, welding position are usually flat and vertical position at the erection stage. Application of SAW and EGW for these positions makes it possible to achieve enhanced productivity and high quality. But owing to their large size and weight it is difficult to apply these techniques in short and narrow regions. To overcome this problem, our company developed light weight and compact size 4-axis welding carriage which perform 3D weaving. The purpose of this study is to explain the development and application of intelligent welding carriage using 3D weaving pattern that can fill a large amount of welds and thereby making it possible to achieve high quality of welding. This study shows 3D weaving pattern, development of weaving database, and skill of adaptive control response for the variable gap. Also, it shows the results of procedure qualification test for the AH-grade steel when applied to the intelligent welding carriage.

압전전압 궤환에 의한 미세구동 연삭테이블의 개발 (A Development of Micro-Positioning Grinding Table using Piezoelectric Voltage Feedback)

  • A micro positioning system using piezoelectric actuators have very wide application region such as ultra-precision machine tool, optical device, measurement systen. In order ro keep a high precision displacement resolution, they use a position sensor and feedback the error. From the practical point of view, a high-resolution displacement sensor system are very expensive and difficult to guarantee such sensitive sensors work properly in the hard opera- tion environment of industry. In this study, a micro-positioning grinding table which does not require position sensor but uses piezoelectric voltage feedback, has been developed. It is driven by hystersis-considering reference input voltage which calculated from computer and then uses actuator/sensor characteristics of piezoelectric materials. From the result of experiments we proved a fast and stable response of micro-positioning system and suggested efficient technique to control the piezoelectric actuator. And through grinding experiments, it is revealed that a characteristics of ground surfaces transient to plastic deformation as extremely small depth of grinding.
