To achieve high efficiency in high power and high frequency applications, reduction of switching losses and noise is very important. In this paper, an improved zero voltage switching forward dc/dc converter is proposed. The proposed converter is constructed by using energy recovery snubbers in parallel with the main switches and output diodes of the conventional forward dc/dc converter. Due to the use of the energy recovery snubbers in the primary and secondary side, the proposed converter achieves zero-voltage-switching turn-off without switching losses for switching devices and output rectification diodes. The complete operating principles and experimental results will be presented.

This paper presents a new cascaded asymmetrical single phase multilevel converter with a lower number of power semiconductor switches and isolated DC sources. Therefore, the number of power electronic devices, converter losses, size, and cost are reduced. The proposed multilevel converter topology consists of two H-bridges connected in cascaded configuration. One H-bridge operates at a high frequency (high frequency inverter) and is capable of developing a two level output while the other H-bridge operates at the fundamental frequency (low frequency inverter) and is capable of developing a multilevel output. The addition of each power electronic switch to the low frequency inverter increases the number of levels by four. This paper also introduces a hybrid switching algorithm which uses very simple arithmetic and logical operations. The simplified hybrid switching algorithm is generalized for any number of levels. The proposed simplified switching algorithm is developed using a TMS320F2812 DSP board. The operation and performance of the proposed multilevel converter are verified by simulations using MATLAB/SIMULINK and experimental results.
This paper presents a new hybrid soft switching dc-dc converter with a low circulating current and high circuit efficiency. The proposed hybrid converter includes two sub-converters sharing two power switches. One is a three-level PWM converter and the other is a LLC converter. The LLC converter and the three-level converter share the lagging-leg switches and extend the zero-voltage switching (ZVS) range of the lagging-leg switches from nearly zero to full load since the LLC converter can be operated at fsw (switching frequency) $\approx$ fr (series resonant frequency). A passive snubber is used on the secondary side of the three-level converter to decrease the circulating current on the primary side, especially at high input voltage and full load conditions. Thus, the conduction losses due to the circulating current are reduced. The output sides of the two converters are connected in series. Energy can be transferred from the input voltage to the output load within the whole switching period. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed converter is verified by experiments with a 1.44kW prototype circuit.
In this paper, a full bridge edge-resonant zero voltage mode based soft-switching PWM DC-DC power converter with a high frequency center tapped transformer link stage is presented from a practical point of view. The power MOSFETS operating as synchronous rectifier devices are implemented in the rectifier center tapped stage to reduce conduction power losses and also to extend the transformer primary side power MOSFETS ZVS commutation area from the rated to zero-load without a requirement of a magnetizing current. The steady-state operation of this phase-shift PWM controlled power converter is described in comparison with a conventional ZVS phase-shift PWM DC-DC converter using the diodes rectifier. Moreover, the experimental results of the switching power losses analysis are evaluated and discussed in this paper. The practical effectiveness of the ZVS phase-shift PWM DC-DC power converter treated here is actually proved by using 2.5kW-32kHz breadboard circuit. An actual efficiency of this converter is estimated in experiment and is achieved as 97$\%$ at maximum.
In this paper, a design method of the phase shift ZVS-PWM converter is proposed to minimize the volume and increase the efficiency. The trade-offs of switching frequency, efficiency vs volume and ZVS range vs efficiency is also presented. The simulation of the designed converter is performed using the P-SPICE in which a phase-shift controller is proposed. For minimization of the converter volume, switching frequency is selected 100kHz, a simple drive circuit and single auxiliary supply are applied. In consideration of efficiency and load condition, ZVS range is decided from 50% to full load. A 28V, 1Kwatt prototype converter, of which the switch is MOSFET is made, verified the performance.
This paper proposes a constant frequency controlled zero voltage switching method that can reduce switching losses caused by emf on inductance in DC motor. The zero voltage switching method is used more than a zero current switching method because of reducing switching losses by capacitance of depletion region of MOSFET. To simplify the controller circuit, we propose constant frequency controlled zero voltage switching method in the paper. The control method is more stable than a variable frequency control method because it can optimize bandwidth of a closed-loop and reactances. Therefore, we construct a constant frequency controlled zero voltage switching converter and improve zero switching losses in high switching frequency. In the process, we can control low-losses in full range on variable voltage and load. We simulate the proposed converter with P-SPICE and compare results obtained through the experiment.
In recent years, the switching source devices have the advantage of small, light and high reliability with the high-frequency. But, high-frequency switching has disclosed disadvantage of result from stress and turn-on and turn-off peak losses at the switching instant. Accordingly, in this paper propose ZVS-HB type high-frequency resonant DC/DC converter using soft switching technique (Zero-Voltage-Switching, Zero-Current-Switching) with safety operating of circuit at diving on inductive zone, through the circuit design example using the capacitor $C_3,\;C_4$ with soft switching function and division characteristic of resonant Capacitor C, $C_1,\;C_2$, and, the characteristic analysis of circuit is generally described using normalized parameters. Also, this paper certified a rightfulness of characteristic analysis in comparison with a theoretical values and a experimental values obtain from experiment using MOSFET.
It is importent to have the switching frequency of power supplies increase in order to reduce their size and weight. But according to increasing the switching frequency, there are several defacts - that is switching losses, high voltage/current stresses and conduction losses and so on. That's why soft switching method was proposed. This paper presents the simulation and analysis of the new proposed Full bridge Zero-Voltage-Transition PWM DC-DC converter for developing that unit. This circuit doesen't increase the voltage and current stresses of main MOSFET switches. Voltage type quasi-resorent method is applied and expected high effenciency. Switching frequency is 100KHz and main switches are MOSFET.
The switching-mode power converter has been widely used because of its features of high efficiency and small weight and size. These features are brought by the ON-OFF operation of semiconductor switching devices. However, this switching operation causes the surge and EMI(Electromagnetic Interference) which deteriorate the reliability of the converter themselves and entire electronic systems. This problem on the surge and noise is one of the most serious difficulties in AC-to-DC converter. In the switching-mode power converter, the output voltage is generally controlled by varying the duty ratio of main switch. When a converter operates in steady state, duty ratio of the converter is kept constant. So the power of switching noise is concentrated in specific frequencies. Generally, to reduce the EMI and improve the immunity of converter system, the switching frequency of converter needs to be properly modulated during a rectified line period instead of being kept constant. Random Pulse Width Modulation (RPWM) is performed by adding a random perturbation to switching instant while output-voltage regulation of converter is performed. RPWM method for reducing conducted EMI in single switch three phase discontinuous conduction mode boost converter is presented. The more white noise is injected, the more conducted EMI is reduced. But output-voltage is not sufficiently regulated. This is the reason why carrier frequency selection topology is proposed. In the case of carrier frequency selection, output-voltage of steady state and transient state is fully regulated. A RPWM control method was proposed in order to smooth the switching noise spectrum and reduce it's level. Experimental results are verified by converter operating at 300V/1kW with 5%~30% white noise input. Spectrum analysis is performed on the Phase current and the CM noise voltage. The former is measured with Current Probe and the latter is achieved with LISN, which are connected to the spectrum analyzer respectively.

It is very important to improve the overall efficiency of systems with a source of power that has low-voltage high-current terminal characteristics such as fuel cells. A resonant converter is required for high efficiency systems. However, the peak value of the switches current is large in a resonant converter. This peak current requires a large number of switches and results in system failures. In this paper, an analysis and experiments of a resonant isolation push-pull converter are performed. A switching loss analysis is performed in order to compare losses between a resonant push pull converter and a hard switching push-pull converter. Specially, the conduction loss is studied based on the ratio between the resonant frequency and the switching frequency. In addition, a method for improving the efficiency is implemented with conventional HF insolation converters.
