The study explores the evolving landscape of overseas expansion strategies by Korean corporations, focusing on recent geopolitical tensions, the COVID-19 pandemic, and disruptions in global supply chains. It emphasizes the challenges faced by industries producing high-value products and delves into the concept of "Friend-Shoring" policies in the United States, leading major Korean companies to invest in local semiconductor, battery, and automotive factories. Recognizing the potential fragmentation of Korea's manufacturing sector, the paper introduces the "Mother Factory" strategy as a policy initiative, inspired by Japan's model, to establish core production facilities domestically. The discussion unfolds by examining the cases of major companies in Japan and the United States, highlighting the need for Korea to adopt a mother factory strategy to mitigate risks associated with friend-shoring policies. Inspired by Intel's "Copy Exactly" approach, the paper proposes a Korean mother factory model integrating smart factory technology and digital twin systems. This strategic shift aims to enhance responsiveness to geopolitical challenges and fortify the competitiveness of Korean high-tech industries. Finally, the paper proposes a Korean Mother Factory based on smart factory concepts. The suggested model integrates smart factory technology and digital twin frameworks to enhance responsiveness and fortify competitiveness. In conclusion, the paper advocates for the adoption of a comprehensive Korean Mother Factory model to address contemporary challenges, foster advanced manufacturing, and ensure the sustainability and competitiveness of Korean high-tech industries in the global landscape. The proposed strategy aligns with the evolving dynamics of the manufacturing sector and emphasizes technological advancements, collaboration, and strategic realignment.
The high-tech industry, a highly knowledge-intensive industry based on advanced technologies such as electronics, new materials, and IT, is developing rapidly centering on the semiconductor, display, and battery fields. The market size of this industry is continuously increasing, and various challenges are coming forward due to various factors such as changes in the market, changes in demand, and the requirements of the clients. Many strategies are being implemented to advance the start-up time of factories, such as fast-track construction and basic line construction. Therefore, construction of high-tech factory is required to respond to various types of construction plans and early decision making, and an accurate and reliable method of calculating construction costs is needed. In this study the existing construction type was classified into the overall line configuration considering the total production of the factory, and a basic line configuration for quick production start-up. The correction ratio/value for each detailed construction required to calculate the construction cost of the basic line configuration type was derived. Finally, reliability and accuracy were verified by applying the correction ratio suggested in this study to a new high-tech factory construction project.

On this work, the importance of industrial ventilation was investigated and examined the theoretical point and problems about general ventilation of factory exposed on high temperature during summer. As a case study, the ventilation planning of the printed circuit board (PCB) etching process for an electronic company was carried out and each of those characteristics were compared by installing actual ventilation systems and measuring the changing state of the working environment in accordance with ventilation method during summer. The purpose of the study is to present an efficient ventilation method for a factory with a closed structure under high temperature environment. In summary, for a factory with a sealed structure such as the target PCB manufacturing factory in this study, the forced supply and exhaust method was the most appropriate ventilation method for maintaining a low.
Recent researches on plant factory system deal with the convergence of lighting technology, agricultural technology inclusive to the high-tech industries worldwide in order to respond to the decreasing crop harvest due to global warming and abnormal weather phenomena. However, the fundamental performance standard is not currently being introduced in the case of plants factory and its commercialization is not activated because of high initial investment and operating cost. Large portion of the initial investment and operating cost of a plant factory is ascribed to artificial light sources and thermal control facilities, therefore, innovation should be provided in order to improve the economics of the plant factory. As an alternative, new plant factory could harness solar thermal and geothermal systems for heating, cooling and ventilation. In this study, a natural light dependent multi-layer plant factory's thermal environment was analyzed with two-dimensional numerical methods to elicit efficient operation conditions for optimized internal physical environment. Depending on the supply air temperature and airflow rate introduced in the facility, the temperature changes around the crops was interpreted. Since the air supplied into the plant factory does not stay long enough, the ambient temperature predicted around the plating trays was not significantly different from that of the supplied air. However, the changes of airflow rate and air flow pattern could cause difference to the temperature around the planting trays. Increasing the amount of time of air staying around the planting trays could improve energy performance in case the thermal environment of a natural light based multi-layer plant factory is considered.

The present annexed parking lot standards for buildings in Parking Act are categorized in 9 groups with 13 parking standards in terms of recreation, culture and assembly, housing, factory, warehouse, and so on, in which same grouped facilities have same parking standards. These days diversity in building types and functions need more fractionated parking standards; however, most local governments focusing merely on applying strengthened parking standards in general without systematic rules of consistency. The current problem of parking standards being used is lack of regarding facility characteristics; expecially, a large sized high-tech manufacturing facility located in industrial site is still applied by same parking standards as normal manufacturing facility, even though most part of manufacturing process is automated and hence less manpower is employed. This paper presents a parking generation forecasting model for factory facilities in industrial site in terms of facility use and scale characteristics.

A new hybrid mount system is proposed for microvibration control in a high-tech factory. The mount consists of an airspring as a passive device and a piezostack actuator as an active device. The two devices are connected in series. Some numerical simulations and experimental tests are carried out to evaluate isolation performance of the mount system comprising of four proposed hybrid mounts. As a control logic, the specific algorithm is adopted for considering multiple target frequencies of excitation based on a Filtered-X LMS algorithm. The results are compared with isolation performance of the passive airspring mount system. It is confirmed that the proposed hybrid mount system has great performance on microvibration.
Smart farm is a high-tech type of plant factory that artificially makes environmental conditions suitable for the growth of plants and manages them to automatically produce the desired plants regardless of seasons or space. This study was conducted by identifying the effects of Hertz and Duty ratio on the photosynthetic rate of ginseng, a medicinal crop, to find the optimal conditions for photosynthetic responses in smart farms. The light sources consisted of a total of 10 chambers using LED system, with 4 R+B(red+blue) mixed lights and 6 R+B+W (red+blue+white) mixed lights. In addition, the Hertz of the R+B mixed light was treated at 20, 60, 180, 540, 1620 and 4860 hz respectively. The R+B+W mixed light was treated with 60, 180, 540, and 1620 hz. Afterwards, experiments were conducted with the duty ratio of 30, 50, and 70%. As a result, the photosynthetic rate of ginseng according to duty ratio and Hertz was the highest at 60 hz when duty ratio was set to 50%. On the other hand, that was the lowest when the duty ratio was 30% at the same 60 hz. In addition, the photosynthetic rates were highest in the R+B mixed light and R+B+W mixed light at 60 hz. Therefore, the condition with the highest photosynthetic rate of ginseng in smart farms is 60 hz when the duty ratio in R+B mixed light is 50%.
The present annexed parking lot standards for buildings in Parking Act are categorized in 9 groups in terms of recreation, culture and assembly, housing, factory, and so on, in which same grouped facilities have uniform parking standards. The local governments have authority to itemize groups and adjust parking standards within ${\pm}50%$ ranges. This paper presents a systematic method of analyzing parking generation unit for factory facilities in industrial site in terms of facility use and scale characteristics.

In Korea, for the past 50 years, industrial parks have played an important role in economic growth as a cluster of national key industries. However, due to various problems of these old industrial parks, they are weakening competitiveness. It is necessary to be converted into a model for the management and fostering of high-tech industrial complex park by classifying them into development plans, management plans, and support plans according to types and characteristics of industrial parks. For this purpose, we propose CIPs (Connected-Industrial parks) using new technologies such as Cloud Computing, RFID, WSN, CPS, and Big Data analysis based on IoT. It is a hub that supports various services in transportation, warehousing and manufacturing fields while possessing and operating physical assets as concept. each CIP (Connected-Industrial park) is connected and expanded Through such CIPs, network-type collaborative manufacturing and intelligent logistics innovation enables cost reduction, delivery shortening, quality improvement.
