  • This study investigated how Korean elementary, middle, and high school students perceive mathematics learning situations to determine whether the mathematics classes provided in schools met the standards of a highquality educational experience. Using a comprehensive survey that considers both formal and implementation aspects of mathematics classes, responses from 15,418 students were analyzed to gain insights into their views on the classroom environment, instructional methods, and overall learning experience. The results indicate that as students advance in grade level, their perceptions of mathematics learning situations become increasingly negative, and mathematics classes are still perceived as being teacher-centered. Additionally, it was found that mathematical manipulatives and technological tools are not being effectively utilized, and that students' learning experiences are influenced by class size and the availability of mathematics subject-exclusive classrooms. Based on these findings, several recommendations were made to improve the quality of mathematics education and enhance students' perceptions: implementing teaching methods that increase student engagement in learnercentered classes, providing opportunities for active and diverse use of teaching aids and technological tools beyond simple calculations, maintaining appropriate class sizes, and expanding the use of mathematics subject-exclusive classrooms. These considerations are crucial for creating a more engaging and effective mathematics learning environment that aligns with evolving educational standards and meets students' needs. The findings of this study provide actionable insights for educators and policymakers aiming to improve the quality of mathematics education in Korea.

  • Recently, with the advancement of technology, the automotive industry has seen an increase in network connectivity. CAN (Controller Area Network) bus technology enables fast and efficient data communication between various electronic devices and systems within a vehicle, providing a platform that integrates and manages a wide range of functions, from core systems to auxiliary features. However, this increased connectivity raises concerns about network security, as external attackers could potentially gain access to the automotive network, taking control of the vehicle or stealing personal information. This paper analyzed abnormal messages occurring in CAN and confirmed that message occurrence periodicity, frequency, and data changes are important factors in the detection of abnormal messages. Through DBC decoding, the specific meanings of CAN messages were interpreted. Based on this, a model for classifying abnormalities was proposed using the GRU model to analyze the periodicity and trend of message occurrences by measuring the difference (residual) between the predicted and actual messages occurring within a certain period as an abnormality metric. Additionally, for multi-class classification of attack techniques on abnormal messages, a Random Forest model was introduced as a multi-classifier using message occurrence frequency, periodicity, and residuals, achieving improved performance. This model achieved a high accuracy of over 99% in detecting abnormal messages and demonstrated superior performance compared to other existing models.

  • The current work was carried out to investigate the effect of crossbred Korean native chickens (KNC) on performance and meat quality. A total of 720 chicks (1d of age) was used in this work and were divided into groups by crossbreds (A, B, C and D) and sex (male and female). Crossbreds were A) (KNC egg-meat type C strains ${\times}$ KNC meat type S strains) ${\times}$ Ross broiler, B) (KNC egg-meat type C strains ${\times}$ KNC meat type H strains) ${\times}$ KNC meat type S strains, C) (KNC native R strains${\times}$KNC meat type S strains)${\times}$KNC meat type H strains and D(White Semibroiler Chickens). Experimental diets consisted of 3 phases such as starter (0~5 weeks; CP 20.0%, ME 3,050 kcal/kg), earlier (5~8 weeks; CP 18.0%, ME 3,100 kcal/kg) and finisher (8~12 weeks; CP 16.0%, ME 3,150 kcal/kg). They were fed the broiler diets for 12 weeks at the flat house and thirty six chickens were slaughtered at week 5 and 10. There was no significant difference on the fertility of crossbred KNCs, and the hatchability of B crossbred was low compared to other crossbreds. On body weight (BW), D crossbred resulted in a higher BW after 5 weeks (P<0.05). Body weight gain (BWG) and feed intake (FI) of A crossbred were also significant higher compared to the other crossbreds for all periods. On carcass ratio (CR), A crossbred showed higher CR at 5 weeks, there was no significant among crossbreds at 10 weeks. The partial meat ratio(ala, breast, neck, leg) of C crossbred was the lowest among other crossbreds (P<0.05), but the back meat ratio was not difference among treatments at 5 and 10 weeks. pH of meats have no difference among crossbreds at 5 week, and A crossbred was high compared to other crossbreds at 10 week (P<0.05). The moisture content of D crossbred meat and the protein content of B crossbred meat were high compared to other crossbreds at 5 week. Chemical compositions of meats have no difference among crossbreds at 10 week. Lightness and redness have not significance among crossbreds at 5 week, and redness of A crossbred was the highest among all crossbreds (P<0.05). Shear force and cooking loss of A crossbred were high at 5 week, and cooking loss of A crossbred was low compared with other crossbreds at 10 week. These results suggested the basic data that needed to develope the new strains.

  • The present study was aimed at investigating effects of chicory inulin and three kinds of oligosaccharides on lipid metabolism in rats fed a high-cholesterol diet. Nine Sprague-Dawley male rats weighing, about 190g were given one of five experimental diets, which were basal cholesterol diet (Control) isomaltooligosaccharide diet (IMO), Iructooligosaccharide diet (FO), chicory inulooligosaccharide diet (CIO) and chicory inulin diet (CI) for 5 weeks. In the oligosaccharide and inulin diets, 6% was added at the expense of sucrose. Rats were pair-fed to the intake of FO group which consumed the least amount, and their feces were collected during the last 4 days. Body weight gain was lower in Fo and CI groups compared with the Control group. Plasma glucose levels of FO and CIO groups were lower and plasma triglyceride concentrations of FO, CIO, and CI groups were lower than those of IMO group. Plasma cholesterol concentration did not differ among groups. Relative liver weight was lower in CIO group. Hepatic triglyceride and cholesterol did not differ among. groups. Fecal excretion of neutral steroid and bile acid were not different among groups, but fecal triglyceride excretion was significantly increased in FO and CI groups compared with the Control group. In conclusion, supplementation of oligosaccharides and chicory inulin at 6% of diets showed no significant hypolipidemic effect in rats fed a high cholesterol diet.

  • This study investigated the effect of belly fat on the plasma lipid concentrations in rats. The results were obtained from the rats that had been fed the experimental purified diets containing 5% corn oil (C) as the control, 5% commercial lard (Tl), 5% belly fat (T2), 10% belly fat(T3), and those given diet(T4) by feeding either C or T3 alternately every 3 days for 30 days. The food intake and food efficiency were not show any significant difference among the treatments. The body weight gain tended to significantly increased when the feeding of added-belly fat in diets (p<0.05). The plasma triacylglycerides of T3 was higher than the other treatments, and significantly elevated as the number of feeding days of the diets with the belly fat passed when compared to diet C (p<0.05). The plasma total cholesterol of T3 showed the highest levels in the treatment groups, and was high in the order of T1, T2, T4, and there was a significant difference between the rats given the diet with belly fat and C (p<0.05). The plasma HDL-C of T2 and T3 was showed the lowest levels in the treatment groups. The plasma HDL-C of T1, T2, T3 and T4 groups were significantly decreased as the number of feeding days of the diets with the belly fat increased when compared to diet C (p<0.05). The plasma LDL-C and Al of T3 showed the highest levels in the treatment groups, and the levels were in order of T1, T2, T4. There was a significant difference between the groups of rats given the belly fat and C (p<0.05). The bleeding times significantly decreased as the number of feeding days of the belly fat diets increased, and T3 showed the lowest levels, there was a significant difference among the treatment groups (p<0.05). The whole blood clotting times of T3 showed the lowest values, and significantly decreased according to the number of days of the rats were fed the belly fat diet (p<0.05). These results showed that frequent consumption and high intake of pork belly can elevate the plasma triacylglyceride and cholesterol levels, and also accelerate red thrombus formation because belly fat contains high levels of saturated fatty acids and cholesterol.

  • The aim of this study was to determine the effects of stocking density and strain on the performance and physiological adaptive responses including the plasma corticosterone content and the level of mRNA expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and antioxidant enzymes in broiler chicks. A total of 300 birds of two strains (150 Ross strain vs. 150 Cobb strain) aged 3-d old were allotted into two stocking densities (standard stocking density,$0.046m^2/bird$ vs. high stocking density, $0.023m^2/bird$) in battery cages by $2{\times}2$ factorial designs with ten replicates until 35 d of age. There was no significant strain effect on body weight, feed intakes and feed to gain ratio and the relative organ weights. However body weight, feed intakes and relative organ weight were found to be significantly (P<0.05) affected by the effect of stocking density. Plasma corticosterone level was not affected by both stocking density and strain effects. Hepatic mRNA expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines including interleukin-$1{\beta}$ (IL-$1{\beta}$), IL-6, IL-18 and interferon-gamma (IFN-${\gamma}$) was not significantly changed by the effects of strain and stocking density. However, the mRNA expression of glutathione peroxidase (GPX) was affected by strain, showing that Ross strain decreased (P<0.05) the GPX expression. With respect to the effect of stocking density, there was a significant (P<0.05) increase in superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) and GPX mRNA expression in the liver from high stocking density group. Splenic pro-inflammatory cytokine expression was not also affected by stocking density and strain, except that IL-18 mRNA significantly (P<0.05) decreased in Cobb strain under high stocking density. The mRNA expression of SOD and CAT was significantly (P<0.05) affected by the effects of stocking density and strain. In conclusion, growth performance was not affected by strain but stocking density. Although mRNA expression of major pro-inflammatory cytokines was not changed by stocking density and strain, antioxidant enzyme was significantly affected by stocking density, strain or even organ in birds under summer conditions. More detailed studies still needed to be explored to elucidate the effects of environmental conditions and genetic background on physiological responses in birds.

  • This work proposes a 10b 250MS/s $1.8mm^2$ 85mW 0.13um CMOS A/D Converter (ADC) for high-performance integrated systems such as next-generation DTV and WLAN simultaneously requiring low voltage, low power, and small area at high speed. The proposed 3-stage pipeline ADC minimizes chip area and power dissipation at the target resolution and sampling rate. The input SHA maintains 10b resolution with either gate-bootstrapped sampling switches or nominal CMOS sampling switches. The SHA and two MDACs based on a conventional 2-stage amplifier employ optimized trans-conductance ratios of two amplifier stages to achieve the required DC gain, bandwidth, and phase margin. The proposed signal insensitive 3-D fully symmetric capacitor layout reduces the device mismatch of two MDACs. The low-noise on-chip current and voltage references can choose optional off-chip voltage references. The prototype ADC is implemented in a 0.13um 1P8M CMOS process. The measured DNL and INL are within 0.24LSB and 0.35LSB while the ADC shows a maximum SNDR of 54dB and 48dB and a maximum SFDR of 67dB and 61dB at 200MS/s and 250MS/s, respectively. The ADC with an active die area of $1.8mm^2$ consumes 85mW at 250MS/s at a 1.2V supply.

  • This study was conducted to analyze the mixing ratio of raw feed materials for the methane mitigation and also to identify the minimum rearing density for improving the productivity of beef calves as eco-friendly fodder. Raw materials used in this study for the formulation of feed for methane reduction were crushed corn and alfalfa along with other 21 species. In addition, to investigate the appropriate rearing density, 12 Hanwoo calves with average weight of 150 kg was selected and experiment was conducted for four months. Methane gas emission (Bo) is about 3-4 times less in TMR 4 compared to TMR 1, 2 and 3. Feed price calculated for TMR 4 ration was also affordable. In addition, all TMRs showed a normal ruminal pH. Disappearance rate was observed to be lower in TMR 4 as compared to TMR 1, 2 and 3, but methane production decreased by 24 to 37%. The result showed improved total body weight, average daily gain and feed conversion ratio in rearing low-density ($18m^2/head$), and general treatment ($9m^2/head$) compared to overcrowding treatment ($6m^2/head$). In addition, blood components (total protein, glucose, AST, ALT and GGT factors) involved in health and disease treatments and health-related nutrition metabolism are lower in the low-density and general treatment compared to the high density treatment. Postural development (development of body size) i.e., weight, height and width significantly increased in the low and general density treatment compared to high density treatment. Especially excellent improvement was observed in low-density treatment than the general treatment. Moisture content, colonic bacteria and coccidium are higher in low and high density treatments than in the general treatment. The adequacy for beef rearing density is considered to be more desirable in an area more than $6m^2/head$. In conclusion, present study suggests that possibility of methane reduction through adjusting mixed feed ration. Also, rearing density is also an important factor in the growth and development of beef calves.

  • This study was conducted with Israeli strain of common carp to determine apparent protein, lipid and gross energy digestibility coefficients and apparent calcium and phosphorus availabilities of the following feedstuffs : steam-dried white fish meal (WFM-S), flame-dried white fish meal (WFM-F), brown fish meal (BFM), soybean meal (SBM), corn gluten meal (CGM), sesame meal (SSM), wheat flour (WFL), brewer's yeast (BY) and monocalcium phosphate (MCP). Test diets consisting of a 70:30 mixture of refoernce diet to test ingredient were utilized with chromic oxide as an external indicator. Fecal collection was made during 10 days before the end of feeding trial lasted for 27 days. The best weight gain and feed utilization were found in fish fed MCP containing test diet. Protein digestibility was high for most ingredients, ranging from 81.2% for BY to 91.9% for SBM, with the exception of SSM which was 77.6%. Lipid digestibility coefficients ranged 74% for CGM to 85.8% for two kinds of white fish meal. Digestible energy coefficients were generally high for fish meals, ranging from 77.4% for WFM-S to 81.3% for WFM-F, whereas those for plant feedstuffs were significantly (P<0.05) lower, from 64.5% for CGM to 70.6% for BY. Phosphorus availability from fish meals was variable with a low of 6.6% for WFM-F and a high of 13.6% for WFM-S. Phosphorus availability from SBM and BY was 7.3% and 57.2%, respectively. Calcium and phosphorus availabilities from MCP were 84.6% and 80.6%, respectively. These results provide more precise information concerning nutrients and energy utilization of Israeli strain of common carp and will allow ingredient substitutions in practical diet formulations based on levels of availabile protein and phosphorus.

  • In this research high-fat-diet, which amounts to 40% out of the total calories, is prepared and taken to SD-lined rats for four weeks, and the exercise is taken using treadmill so that two groups are formed; one is for exercise group (E, EG) and the other for non-exercise group (CO,G). In addition the diet-intake-amount and body weight are measured for momparing a green tea extract intake group (EG,G) with a non-intake group (CO,E) and then serum lipid components can be analyzed after four weeks. Considering the total diet amounts for four weeks, Co group has the largest while the EG group does the smallest for the diet-intake-amounts; there is, however, no significant difference among all groups. Both body weight gain and the feed efficiency ratio of the CO group are larger than those of the EG and G group with significant differences (p<0.05). Taking into account the serum lipid components analysis, all of serum total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, and triglyceride of EG group have smaller values than those of non-exercise groups (CO,G) with significant differences (p<0.05) respectively, while HDL/LDL-cholesterol of EG group does a larger value than that of non-exercise groups with significant difference (p<0.05); these, hence, show efficient results. For the HDL-cholesterol level, there are no significant differences among each group and the ratio TC/HDL-cholesterol of EG group is smaller than that of Co group with a significant difference (p<0.05). Therefore, we can draw conclusions that exercise and green tea extract intake group (EG) has relatively better results than non-exercise groups (CO, G) through serum lipid components results and furthermore the effects of the green tea extracts intake is considered to play a supplementary role for the improvement of the serum lipid components.
