The injection molding process has high accuracy and good reproducibility that are essential for mass production at low cost. Conventional molding processes typically use the water-based mold heating and air cooling methods. However, in the nano injection molding processes, this semi-active mold temperature control results in the several defects such as air-flow mark, non-fill, sticking and tearing, etc. Therefore, in order to control temperature of the molds actively and improve the quality of the molded products, the novel nano injection molding system, which uses active heating and cooling method, has been introduced. By using the Peltier devices, the temperature of locally adiabatic molds can be controlled dramatically and the quality of the molded patterns can be improved.

There are no specific guidelines on how to control the heat input for the heat generating smart base layer. This study investigated the mode of actuating heat pad attached to the base layer by performing a human wear test in a cold environment. Subjects participating in the test wore T-shirts, jumper and pants on the base layer with heating pads. Skin temperature, total time of heating and the number of switching for the heating mode were observed as the subject controlled the heating mode voluntarily. The comfortable range of skin temperature on the abdomen was larger than on the lower back. The subject felt hot and turned off the switch when the mean skin temperature of the abdomen was $48.8^{\circ}C$ and the lower back was $40.1^{\circ}C$. The total heating time and the number of actuating switching were larger for women than men. The voluntary action of heating for men with high cold sensitivity was significantly different from men with low cold sensitivity. Therefore, it is necessary (depending on gender and cold sensitivity) to set the heating mode differently for the automatic heat control of a future smart base layer.
With the increased concerns of environmental issues, industries are paying more attention to lightweight metals. Because the high degree of springback is an obstacle to the widespread use of lightweight metals, many investigations have been conducted to reduce springback by increasing temperature. However, increasing the temperature of the whole die or the material is energy inefficient, since generally only a limited area of the material is deformed during sheet metal forming. As a solution to this problem, focused heating that only heats the area where plastic deformation occurs may be an alternative approach. In the current study, V-bending tests were conducted at various temperatures after the AZ31, Ti-GR2 sheets were locally heated using near-infrared (NIR) radiation in order to evaluate the effect of temperature on springback. The results of the experiment confirm that the NIR focused heating reduces the springback of AZ31, Ti-GR2 alloys with increasing temperature.
The glass thermal forming process provides a high volume, low cost approach to producing aspherical reflectors for x-ray optics. Thin glass sheets are shaped into mirror segments by replicating the mold shape at high temperature. Heating parameters in the glass thermal slumping process are crucial to improve surface quality of the formed glass. In this research, the heating process of a thermal slumping glass sheet on a concave parabolic mold was simulated with the finite-element method (FEM) to investigate the effects of heating rate and soaking temperature. Based on the optimized heating conditions, glass samples 0.5 mm thick were formed in a furnace with a steel concave parabolic mold. The figure errors of the formed glass were measured and discussed in detail. It was found that the formed glass was not fully slumped at the edges, and should be trimmed to achieve better surface deviation. The root-mean-square (RMS) deviation and peak-valley (PV) deviation between formed glass and mold along the axial direction were 2.3 μm and 4.7 μm respectively.

The applications of a transcritical $CO_2$ cycle into water heaters show advantages over conventional systems in the respect of power consumption and heating efficiency because the $CO_2$ cycle has a high compressor discharge temperature. Besides, the heating performance of the transcritical $CO_2$ cycle can be improved by optimizing operating conditions. In this study, the heating performance of a variable speed $CO_2$ heat pump was measured and analyzed by varying refrigerant charge amount, EEV opening, compressor frequency and outdoor temperature. As a result, the optimum normalized charge for heating was 0.226. The COPs at the compressor frequencies of 40, 50 and 60 Hz were 2.94, 2.75 and 2.25, respectively. The heating performance of the $CO_2$ cycle with charge amount was more sensitive than the cooling performance. Moreover, the heating performance was improved significantly by optimizing of compressor frequency and EEV opening.

A new material tester has been developed to measure mechanical properties of thin film specimens at high temperature. It is useful for observing oxide film growth or local deformation on the surface, and for measuring creep strength. Main characteristics of the tester is as follows; First, high temperature is achieved by Joule heating generated by electricity passing through the specimen, which does not need to enclose the specimen by a furnace or a heating chamber. The exposed specimen enables one to observe the surface during the test. Because the overall size of the test rig is compact, the whole test rig can be placed in a chamber for environmental controlled tests. The loading device is from a level scales. Not only static load with fixed counter weight, but also variable load by moving counter weight controlled remotely can be applied for an ordinary creep test and creep-fatigue test, respectively. The detail of the construction, operation principle, and the specification are described. And also, an example of test result obtained using the creep tester is presented.

The bonding performance of two types of wood adhesives, namely phenol-resorcinol-formaldehyde (PRF) resin and melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF) resin for glued laminated timber manufactured by high frequency (HF) heating was evaluated. The HF heating system consists of HF oscillator with dielectric heating system for curing adhesives, and hydraulic press system for clamping glued laminated timber. The designed frequency and output power of the HF system was as 5 MHz and 60 kW, respectively. To verify dielectric heating mechanism under HF oscillation, the heat loss factors of laminae and adhesives were measured. The results show that it is possible to selectively heat adhesives for their curing due to the remarkably higher loss factor of the adhesives than those of wood laminae. The temperature of adhesive in the bonding line reached up to the set temperature within a few seconds by high frequency oscillating, which advanced the curing of adhesive afterwards. The bonding performance, such as shear strength of bonding line, water soaking delamination, and boiling water soaking delamination of PRF resin met the requirement of Korean Standard (KS), however the MUF resin did not meet the KS requirement of boiling water soaking delamination. These results indicate that the HF heating system is successful to manufacture glued laminated timbers with PRF resins to meet the bonding requirements.
The districts of underground geologic structure in Jeju island where underground air is distributed are lava cave, pyroclastic, open joint, and crushing zone. Such districts are identified to secure an enough airflow when air ventilation layer is to secure 25-35m in depth. In Jeju, Ground air is used for heating greenhouse and fertilizing natural $CO_2$ gas by suppling directly into greenhouse. But the heating method by suppling ground air into greenhouse directly bring about several problem. The occurrence of disease of the crops by high humidity is worried because the underground air which becomes discharge from underground air layer has over 90% relative humidity. The underground air is inadequate in heating for crops which need high temperature heating such as mangos, Hallbong and mandarin orange because the temperature of it is $15{\sim}18^{\circ}C$. Also There is worry where the ventilation loss becomes larger because the air pressure inside greenhouse is high by supplying underground air directly. In this study the heat pump system using underground air as heat source was developed and heating performance of the system was analysed. Heating COP of the system was 2.5~5.0 and rejecting heat into greenhouse and extracting heat from underground air were 40,000~27,000 kcal/h, 30,000~18,000 kcal/h respectively.
A study was planned to evaluate the influence of continual heating at $150{\pm}5^{\circ}C$ and $170{\pm}5^{\circ}C$ respectively upon edible oils for frying the several food. Two kinds of domestic edible oils (Sample A and B) were collected by random sampling from market and in order to estimate deterioration degrees at both temperatures previously mentioned, thiobarbituric acid (TBA) value, acid value (AV), peroxide value (POV) and carbonyl value (CV) were measured at intervals due to its optical density. Those values were examined and compared according to the temperatures and times, and it was concluded as follows: 1) TBA value was rapidly increased until 24 hours in both temperatures and after 1 day its value have shown a slower increase as compared with initial rapid reaction. 2) Acid value and peroxide value of both oils (A & B) used for frying were increased continuously during heating and the changes in these values were dependent on the thermal oxidation, and moreover at low temperature $(150{\pm}5^{\circ}C)$ these values were found to be increased more readily than at high temperature $(170{\pm}5^{\circ}C)$. 3) Carbonyl value of both sample A and B show almost the same increasing rate at either $150{\pm}5^{\circ}C$ or $170{\pm}5^{\circ}C$ in proportion to the heating time. 4) It was found that there were differences between the chemical changes caused by heating sample A and B at high and low temperature.

Titanium aluminide intermetallic compound was formed from high purity elemental Ti and A1 foils by selfpropagating, high-temperature synthesis(SHS1 in hot press. Formation of $TiAl_3$ intermetallics at the interface between Ti and Al foil was observed to be controlled by temperature, pressure and heating rate. Especially, the heating rate is the most important role to form intermetallic compound by SHS reaction. According to DTA experiment, the SHS reactions appeared at two different temperatures below and above the melting point of Al. It was also observed that both SHS reaction temperatures increased with increasing the heating rate. After the SHS reaction of alternatively layered 10 Ti and 9 A1 foils at the heating rate of $20^{\circ}C$/min, the $700\mu\textrm{m}$ thick titanium aluminide sheet was formed by heat treatment at $810^{\circ}C$ for 4hours.
