In the field of composite structures, the use of carbon tube for the confinement of concrete has been arisen since 1990's. However, experimental and analytical studies were limited to those of reinforced concrete and concrete filled steel tube. The carbon tube provides excellent confinement capabilities for concrete cores, enhancing compressive strength and ductility of concrete significantly. The carbon tube has high tensile strength, light weight, corrosion immunity and high fatigue strength properties. Since carbon fiber is an anisotropic material, carbon tube could be optimized by adjusting the fiber orientation, thickness and the number of different layers. In this study, both experimental and analytical studies of axial and lateral behavior of full-scale CFCT (Concrete Filled Carbon Tube) columns subjected to monotonic axial load were carried out using Drucker-Prager theory. And, based on comparison results between experiment results and analytical results, k factor estimation was proposed for effective analysis.
Carbody of rolling stock has been gradually changed as whole wood, steel frame with wood car body, whole steel car body with rivet and whole monocoque carbody with welding. And also mild steel has been used widely to material of structure, but usage of stainless and aluminium which have lightweight and high corrosion resistance is being increased lately. Structure is being commercialized to AED(All Extrusion Design),whole double skin with hollow excluded shape such as aluminium structure from SSD(Sheet Stringer Design), single skin consists of traditional frame and outside plat. Traditional aluminium carbody had many problems from reduced strength in welding combination section because car body is consist of small extruded material affected heat by welding. On this study, we proposed the plan to improve the body strength and quality with large-scale aluminium extruded material by minimizing welding concentration in combination section.

Generally, steel is the most commonly used in the industry because of good strength, processability and cost-effectiveness. Steel can be surface-treated such as coating or used as an alloy by adding elements such as Cr, Ni, Zr, and Al to increase corrosion resistance. However, even if steel is used in same environment corrosion resistance is sharply lowered when it is exposed to a high temperature for a fixed or extended period of time due to an overload or other factors. In particular, the use of hot-dip aluminized plated steel, which is used in high-temperature atmospheres, is increasing due to the surface Al2O3 oxide film. This steel necessitates an urgent solution as issues of corrosion resistance limitations often appear. It is an important issue that not only cause analysis but also the research for the surface treatment method that can be solved. Thus, in this study, Cr in which it is expected to be effective in corrosion resistance and heat resistance attempted to deposit on hot dip aluminized plated steel with PVD sputtering. And it was possible to present the surface treatment application of various types of industrial equipment exposed to high temperature and basic design guidelines for use by confirming the corrosion resistance of hot dip Al-Si plated steel with Cr film deposited at high temperature.
In this paper, the stochastic distribution of the springback amount is investigated for the stamping process of a U-channel shaped-product with ultra-high strength steel. Using the reliability-based design optimization technique (RBDO), stochastic distribution of process parameters is considered in the analysis including material properties and process variation. Quantification of the springback scatters is carried out with the statistical analysis method according to the material strength. It is found that the scattering amount of springback decreases while the amount of springback increases as the tensile strength of the blank material increases, which is investigated by analyzing the strain and stress distribution of the punch and die shoulder. It is noted that the proposed scheme is capable of predicting and responding to the unavoidable scattering of springback in the sheet metal forming process.

Recently, research on lightweight automobiles is increasing continuously to respond to the high safety standards and environmental regulations. The application of high strength steel is one of the effective methods for developing lightweight car bodies. A TWB (Tailor Welded Blank) is major method that allows partial high strength with light weighting using a multi-thickness and multi-material welded blank. On the other hand, additional welding process is required to prepare the blank and quality control for the welding process also required. To secure this point, the TRB (Tailor Rolled Blank) method was suggested. In the TRB method, the thickness of sheet is controlled by the rolling presses and the production efficiency is much higher than welding in TWB methods. In this study, the formability of high strength TRB steel plate was analyzed to examine the rolling effect of the blank. The formability of the specimen was tested using 0.8 and 1 mm thick steel sheets for the TRB plate. The strain was analyzed by the digital image sensing of grid markings on the specimen and the forming limit diagram was calculated. An Erichsen test for the 0.8 and 1 mm thick TRB specimens was carried out and the formability was investigated by comparing with FE analysis.
The reactive wetting behaviors of molten Zn-Al-Mg alloys on MnO- and amorphous (a-) $SiO_2$-covered steel sheets were investigated by the sessile drop method, as a function of the Al and Mg contents in the alloys. The sessile drop tests were carried out at $460^{\circ}C$ and the variation in the contact angles (${\theta}_c$) of alloys containing 0.2-2.5 wt% Al and 0-3.0 wt% Mg was monitored for 20 s. For all the alloys, the MnO-covered steel substrate exhibited reactive wetting whereas the $a-SiO_2$-covered steel exhibited nonreactive, nonwetting (${\theta}_c>90^{\circ}$) behavior. The MnO layer was rapidly removed by Al and Mg contained in the alloys. The wetting of the MnO-covered steel sheet significantly improved upon increasing the Mg content but decreased upon increasing the Al content, indicating that the surface tension of the alloy droplet is the main factor controlling its wettability. Although the reactions of Al and Mg in molten alloys with the $a-SiO_2$ layer were found to be sluggish, the wettability of Zn-Al-Mg alloys on the $a-SiO_2$ layer improved upon increasing the Al and Mg contents. These results suggest that the wetting of advanced high-strength steel sheets, the surface oxide layer of which consists of a mixture of MnO and $SiO_2$, with Zn-Al-Mg alloys could be most effectively improved by increasing the Mg content of the alloys.

Hot Press Forming (HPF), an advanced sheet forming method in which a high strength part can be produced by forming at high temperature and rapid cooling in dies, is one of the most successful forming process in producing components with complex geometric shape, high strength and a minimum of springback. In order to obtain effectively and accurately numerical finite element simulations of the actual HPF process, the flow stress of a boron steel in the austenitic state at elevated temperatures has been investigated with Gleeble system. To evaluate the formability of the thermo- mechanical material characteristics in the HPF process, the FLDo defined at the lowest point in the forming limit diagrams of a boron steel has been investigated. In addition, the simulation results of thermo-mechanical coupled analysis of an automobile one-piece lower-arm part are compared with the experimental ones to confirm the validity of the proposed simulations.
The aim of present study is to investigate the effect of welding parameters and heat treatment conditions on the formability of the $CO_2$ laser welded silicon steel sheet. It was found that there is optimum range of the heat input ($0.6{\sim}0.7kJ/cm$) and gap distance ($0.125{\sim}0.150mm$) for the high tensile strength and the avoidance of the fracture in weld metal. Also, it was essential fur the improvement of formability to perform pre- and post-welding heat treatment which cause the uniform mixture of base metal and welding consumable.

For the purpose of establishing laser welding condition(laser power, welding speed and beam focus) and of evaluating tailor welded blank for three kinds of thin steel sheets of SPCC, SK5M and SUS304 using in the thin plate structure such as automobile, train and so on. Their $CO_2$ laser weldability were primarily tested under various welding condition. SPCC and SUS304 thin sheets showed good weldability under some welding condition. But, high carbon steel sheet SK5M needs heat treatment after welding to obtain higher tensile strength and ductility of the welded joint. And next, laser welding condition. Butt-welded specimens were not nearly broken at weld bead. However, base material were ruptured in the direction of circumference. The forming depths by tailor weld bead. However, base material were ruptured in the direction of circumference. The forming depths by tailor welded blank were SPCC+SPCC=22~25mm, SUS304+SUS304=25~43mm and SK5M+SK5M=13~17mm.
Magnesium alloys are currently expected to be widely used for weight reduction of cars and as high efficient materials in the automotive and electronics industries. Although the specific strength of magnesium is excellent, it cannot be easily formed at room temperature due to its HCP structure. However in order to improve the formability of magnesium, it is necessary to investigate its formability in the warm temperature range. In the current study, the aim was to add to the magnesium property database so that the mass production of a magnesium car body can be accomplished. Warm tensile tests were conducted and the forming limit diagram was determined to confirm formability characteristics of magnesium AZ31B alloy sheet. In addition the bending formability and the magnesium damping capacity were evaluated for AZ31B and compared to SPRC440E which is a sheet steel used for car bodies.
