침지식 중공사막을 결합한 Dynamic state 하수고도처리공정(KSMBR process)의 개발 및 현장적용평가 (Development and Field Application of the Advanced Wastewater Treatment process (KSMBR) by Hollow Fiber Submerged Membrane)

  • KSMBR process is dynamic state advanced wastewater treatment applied with Trisectional Aeration (TSA) mode combined with membrane. TSA was remodeled conventional intermittent aeration which was operated nonaeration-aeration. TSA operates nonaeration ($N_1$) - aeration (A) - nonaeration ($N_2$) in Trisectional Aeration Reactor (TAR). Organics of influent could be nearly consumed to denitrification without influence by remained DO in TAR and it could be operated about sludge return ratio of 1Q (influent base). The purpose of this study was to apply KSMBR to the full-scale plant and to evaluate efficiency of nitrogen and phosphorus removal and TSA operation. The result of this study, average CODcr/T-N and CODcr/T-P ratio were 7.8 and 59.6, respectively. BOD, TCODcr, SS, T-N, T-P, E-coli removal efficiency were 98.4, 95.2, 73.0, 69.6, 99.95 %, respectively. KSMBR obtained high removal efficiencies of C, N and P when it applied full-scale plant.

산 첨착활성탄과 동적막 공정을 이용한 수중 암모니아 제거 (Removal of Ammonia in Water using Acid-impregnated Activated Carbon and Dynamic Membrane System)

  • 본 연구에서는 수중 악취의 원인 물질인 용존 암모니아를 제거하기 위해 분말형태의 활성탄을 사용하였다. 특히, 일반적인 분말활성탄은 암모니아 흡착능이 좋지 않기 때문에 흡착능을 높이기 위해 분말활성탄의 표면을 산 용액으로 함침시킨 산 첨착활성탄을 제조하였다. 이렇게 제조한 산 첨착활성탄을 섬유 재질로 된 다공성 지지막($10{\sim}50{\mu}m$)의 표면에 압력에 의한 분리 활성 여과 층을 형성시켜 흡착과 분리를 동시에 할 수 있는 혼합 공정을 구성하였다. 그 결과 혼합공정에서 암모니아 제거율이 60% 이상 되어, 일반 분말활성탄에 비해 10~15% 더 높은 흡착능을 보였다. 그리고 층이 형성된 동적막의 순수투과성능 실험을 보면 수투과도는 400~700 LMH로 정밀여과(Microfiltration)막 수준의 역할을 한다. 이는 수처리에서 기존의 분리막 공정보다 고효율적인 처리 유량을 유지하는 효과가 기대된다.

  • 원전의 정상운전이나 해체시 발생될 수 있는 토양의 제염을 위한 토양제염장치를 개발하였으며 실증 실험을 수행하였다. 제염장치를 이용한 제염실험을 종합해본 결과 제염조건에 큰 상관없이 $80{\%}$이상의 제염율을 얻을 수 있었다. 방사능 준위 및 토양입도에 의한 실험결과를 보면 낮은 방사능 농도 및 고입도의 제염율이 다소 높음을 알 수 있었다. 제염용액과 토양질량의 비에 따른 제염율은 제염제 부피를 두배로 높였을 경우 방사능 농도가 높은 경우에 큰 것으로 나타났다. 반복 제염은 $0.5{\sim}2.0mm$의 다소 작은 입자에 더욱 효과적으로, 제염이 어려운 작은 입자의 반복제염시 방사능 저감 효과가 비교적 크게 나타났다. 본 오염토양 제염장치를 활용하면 원전에서 발생되는 오염토양의 방사능 농도를 줄일 뿐 아니라 처분양을 줄여 저장공간의 확보에 기여할 뿐만 아니라 향후 원전의 해체시에도 유용하게 활용될 수 있으리라 생각된다.

  • The integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) system is well known for its high efficiency compared with that of other coal fueled power generation system. IGCC offers substantial advantages over pulverized coal combustion when carbon capture and storage (CCS) is required. Commercial plants employ different types of quenching system to meet the purpose of the system. Depending on that, the downstream units of IGCC can be modeled using different operating conditions and units. In case with $CO_2$ separation and capture, the gasifier product must be converted to hydrogen-rich syngas using Water Gas Shift (WGS) reaction. In most WGS processes, the water gas shift reactor is the biggest and heaviest component because the reaction is relatively slow compared to the other reactions and is inhibited at higher temperatures by thermodynamics. In this study, tehchno-econimic assessments were found according to the quench types and operating conditions in the WGS system. These results can improve the efficiency and reduce the cost of coal gasification.

머신비젼 시스템을 이용(利用)한 스크랩 자동선별(自動選別) 연구(硏究) (Machine Vision Applications in Automated Scrap-separating Research)

  • 본 연구에서는 색도인식이 가능한 버신 비젼시스템을 설계 제작하고, 제작한 시스템을 이용하여 철스크랩에 혼합되어 있는 Cu스크랩을 자동으로 분리하는 시험연구를 행하였다. 머신비젼시스템은 크게 측정부, 이송부 그리고 ejector로 구분되며, CCD카메라, 광원 및 frame grabber로 구성된 측정부에서 이메지 프로쎄싱 알고리즘에 의해 이송되어 오는 스크랩 표면의 색도를 인식하게 된다. 또한 그 인식결과에 따라 I/O interface가 구성된 콘트롤러에 의해 에어노즐을 작동하도록 하여 임의로 지정한 특정 표면색상의 스크랩만을 분리하도록 되어 있다. 본 시스템을 이용하여 철스크랩에 포함된 Cu스크램의 선별실험을 수행한 결과, 스크랩 이송속도가 15 m/min.에서 90%이상의 선별효율을 나타내어, 향후 선별기능의 고속화가 실현될 경우 산업적으로 적용 가능성이 매우 높은 것으로 판단되었다.

Water-stable solvent dependent multicolored perovskites based on lead bromide

  • The synthesis of organic and hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites directly from solution improves the cost- and energy-efficiency of processing. To date, numerous research efforts have been devoted to investigating the influence of the various solvent parameters for the synthesis of lead halide perovskites, focused on the effects of different single solvents on the efficiency of the resulting perovskites. In this work, we investigated the effect of solvent blends for the first time on the structure and phase of perovskites produced via the Lewis base vapor diffusion method to develop a new synthetic approach for water-stable CsPbBr3 particles with nanometer-sized dimensions. Solvent blends prepared with DMF and water-miscible solvents with different Gutmann's donor numbers (DN) affect the Pb ions differently, resulting in a variety of lead bromide species with various colors. The use of a DMF/isopropanol solvent mixture was found to induce the formation of the Ruddlesden-Popper perovskite based on lead bromide. This perovskite undergoes a blue color shift in the solvated state owing to the separation of nanoplatelets. In contrast, the replacement of isopropanol with DMSO, which has a high DN, induces the formation of spherical CsPbBr3 perovskite nanoparticles that exhibit green emission. Finally, the integration of acetone in the solvent system leads to the formation of lead bromide complexes with a yellow-orange color and the perovskite CsPbBr3.

$TiO_2$로 전처리한 아크릴 폐수의 Membrane Hybrid System에의 적용 (Application in Membrane Hybrid System with Acrylic Wastewater Pretreated by $TiO_2$)

  • 아크릴폐수를 광촉매로 전처리하여 막오염인자를 최소화 한 후 막조합공정에 적용하였다. 한외여과막과 정밀여과막을 역삼투막과 조합을 이루어 막조합공정을 구성하였으며 광촉매처리수를 온도 및 압력변화에 따라 막조합공정에 적용하여 분리특성을 확인하였다. 정밀여과막 모듈 혹은 한외여과막 모듈의 투과수는 역삼투모듈로 보내지며 역삼투 모듈의 최종적인 투과량은 모듈 set 2 (MWCO 200,000 UF+RO)의 역삼투 모듈이 우수하였다. UF 및 MF 모듈에서 TDS, T-N 및 COD의 제거효율은 온도 및 압력변화에 영향을 받지 않고 제거효율 또한 낮음을 알 수 있었다. 그러한 결과로 RO 모듈에서 TDS, T-N 및 COD가 우수한 제거효율을 보였다. UF 및 MF모듈에서의 탁도 제거효율은 우수한 경향(제거효율 99% 이상)을 보였다. 막조합공정에서 처리된 광촉매처리수는 배출 허용기준치를 충족하고, 재활용이 가능하였다.

Development of a High-Volume Simultaneous Sampler for Fine and Coarse Particles using Virtual Impactor and Cyclone Techniques

  • Filter-based sampling techniques are the conventional way to collect particulate matter, but particles collected and entangled in the filter fibers are difficult to be removed and thus not suited for the following cell- and animal-based exposure experiments. Collecting aerosol particles in powder form using a cyclone instead of a filter would be a possible way to solve this problem. We developed a hybrid virtual-impactor/cyclone high-volume fine and coarse particle sampler and assessed its performance. The developed system achieved 50% collection efficiency with components having the following aerodynamic cut-off diameters: virtual impactor, $2.4{\mu}m$; fine-particle cyclone, $0.18-0.30{\mu}m$; and coarse-particle cyclone, $0.7{\mu}m$. The virtual impactor used in our set-up had good $PM_{2.5}$ separation performance, comparable to that reported for a conventional real impactor. The newly developed sampler can collect fine and coarse particles simultaneously, in combination with exposure testing with collected fine- and coarse-particulate matter samples, should help researchers to elucidate the mechanism by which airborne particles result in adverse health effect in detail.

고활력우정자(高活力牛精子)의 선택적(選擇的) 분리(分離)에 관한 연구(硏究) (Studies on Selective Separation of Highly Motile Bovine Sperm)

  • As a fundamental study to increase the reproductive efficiency in cattle, highly motile sperm were separated and collected from raw semen, extended semen and frozen semen by different methods using various concentrations of bovine serum albumin or Tyrode's solution. Various characteristics and light microscopic and electron-microscopic morphology of sperm separated by different methods were compared. The results obtained were as follows; 1. The sperm separated from raw semen using bovine serum albumin showed significantly high value in motility, motile sperm count, percent of normal sperm and progressive motility, as compared with control sperm and revealed the highest sperm recovery rate when separated with 6% bovine serum albumin. 2. The sperm motility, percent of normal sperm and progressive motility of the highly motile sperm frozen after being separated from raw semen with bovine serum albumin, showed significantly high value than those of a control sperm and especially found the highest value when separated with 20% bovine serum albumin. 3. Light-microscopic percent of abnormality was significantly low in the prefrozen and postfrozen highly motile sperm separated with bovine serum albumin, as compared with control sperm. 4. Electron-microscopic finding of the highly motile sperm separated with bovine serum albumin showed low percent of deformity in the dilatation and vesiculation of cell membrane, in dilatation and density loss of acrosome than in those of control sperm. 5. It was impossible to separate the highly motile sperm from frozen semen with bovine serum albumin, but it was possible with Tyrode's solution. 6. Recovery rate of highly motile sperm from raw semen extended semen and frozen semen was the highest when the sperm pellet stood in Tyrde's solution for 80 minutes. 7. The highly motile sperm separated from raw semen, extended semen and frozen semen with Tyrode's solution showed significantly high value in motility, progressive motility and percent of normal sperm, as compared with control sperm. 8. Highly motile sperm, when separated from raw semen, extended semen and frozen semen with Tyrode's solution, showed significantly low percent of microscopic abnormality as compared with control sperm.

Effect of Phosphodiesterase in Regulating the Activity of Lysosomes in the HeLa Cell Line

  • The transport of lysosomal enzymes into the lysosomes depends on the phosphorylation of their chains and the binding of the phosphorylated residues to mannose-6-phosphate receptors. The efficiency of separation depends more on the phosphodiesterases (PDEs) than on the activity of the phosphorylation of mannose residues and can be determined in vitro. PDEs play important roles in regulation of the activation of lysosomes. The expression of proteins was confirmed by western blotting. All PDE4 series protein expression was reduced in high concentrations of rolipram. As a result of observing the fluorescence intensity after rolipram treatment, the lysosomal enzyme was activated at low concentrations and suppressed at high concentrations. High concentrations of rolipram recovered the original function. Antimicrobial activity was not shown in either 10 or $100{\mu}M$ concentrations of rolipram in treated HeLa cells in vitro. However, the higher anticancer activity at lower rolipram concentration was shown in lysosomal enzyme treated with $10{\mu}M$ of rolipram. The anticancer activity was confirmed through cathepsin B and D assay. Tranfection allowed examination of the relationship between PDE4 and lysosomal activity in more detail. Protein expression was confirmed to be reduced. Fluorescence intensity showed decreased activity of lysosomes and ROS in cells transfected with the antisense sequences of PDE4 A, B, C, and D. PDE4A showed anticancer activity, whereas lysosome from cells transfected with the antisense sequences of PDE4 B, C, and D had decreased anticancer activity. These results showed the PDE4 A, B, C, and D are conjunctly related with lysosomal activity.
