다양한 연료온도 조건에 있어서의 기존 가솔린과 F-T합성 가솔린의 분사율 특성 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on the Injection Rate Characteristics of Conventional and F-T Synthetic Gasoline Under Various Fuel Temperatures)

  • Amidst the drive towards carbon neutrality, interest in renewable synthetic e-fuels is rising rapidly. These fuels, generated through the synthesis of atmospheric carbon and green hydrogen, offer a sustainable solution, showing advantages like high energy density and compatibility with existing infrastructure. The physical properties of e-fuels can be different from those of conventional gasoline based on manufacturing methods, which requires investigations into how the physical properties of e-fuels affect the fuel injection characteristics. This study performs a comparative analysis between conventional and Fischer-Tropsch (F-T) synthetic gasoline (e-gasoline) across various fuel temperatures, including the cold start condition. The fuel properties of F-T synthetic and conventional gasoline are analyzed using a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry technique and the injection rates are measured using a Bosch-tube injection rate meter. The F-T synthetic gasoline exhibited higher density and kinematic viscosity, but lower vapor pressure compared to the conventional gasoline. Both fuels showed an increase in injection rate as the fuel temperature decreased. The F-T synthetic gasoline showed higher injection rates compared to conventional gasoline regardless of the fuel temperature.

열탈착-저온농축-GC/FID/FPD에 의한 도시 생활폐기물 매립장에서 방출되는 휘발성 유기화합물의 측정에 관한 연구 (Determination of Volatile Organic Compounds emitted from Municipal Solid Waste Landfill Site by Thermal Desorption-Cryofocusing-GC/FID/FPD)

  • 본 연구는 ppb와 ppt 정도의 농도 수준으로 존재하고 있는 대기 중 휘발성 유기화합물을 분석하기 위해 열탈착-저온농축-GC/FID/FPD를 개발하였다. 그리고 고체흡착제가 충진된 흡착관과 자체 제작한 휴대용 가스채취기를 사용하여 강원도 춘천지역에 위치한 근화동과 혈동리 생활폐기물 매립장에서 배출되는 VOCs를 채취하였다. 저온농축방법으로는 분석컬럼을 직접 저온 농축하는 on-column 저온 농축장치와 0.8mm loop를 이용한 저온농축장치를 서로 비교 검토해 보았다. On-column 저온농축법은 loop에 비해 분리능은 좋으나 흡착관에 채취한 시료를 저온농축할 때 요구되는 50 psi의 높은 탈착압력으로 인해 흡착관의 SwageLok fitting이 마모되어 가스가 새는 문제점이 발생하였다. 이에 반해 탈착압력을 낮추고 탈착유량을 늘리기 위해 설계한 loop 경우에는 탈착압력이 0.4 psi로 on-column에 비해 매우 낮아 가스가 새는 것을 방지할 수 있었다. 열탈착-저온농축-GC/FID/FPD로 분석한 근화동과 혈동리 생활폐기물 매립장에서 검출된 물질로는 toluene, xylene, ethylbenzene등 탄화수소류와 악취물인 styrene, limonene, dimethyl disulfide 등이 검출되었다. 그리고 매립지에서 방출되는 VOCs는 매립되는 폐기물의 조성과 매립기간에 따라 다르게 나타났다. 검출된 화합물은 저온농축-GC/MS를 이용하여 확인하였다.

Development of a University-Based Simplified H2O2/PE Hybrid Sounding Rocket at KAIST

  • This paper reports development process of a university-based sounding rocket using simplified hybrid rocket propulsion system for low-altitude flight application. A hybrid propulsion system was tried to be designed with as few components as possible for more economical, simpler and safer propulsion system, which is essential for the small scale sounding rocket operation as a CanSat carrier. Using blow-down feeding system and catalytic ignition as combustion starter, 250 N class hybrid rocket system was composed of three components: a composite tank, valves, and a thruster. With a composite tank filled with both hydrogen peroxide($H_2O_2$) as an oxidizer and nitrogen gas($N_2$) as a pressurant, the feeding pressure was operated in blowdown mode during thruster operation. The $MnO_2/Al_2O_3$ catalyst was fabricated for propellant decomposition, and ground test of propulsion system showed the almost theoretical temperature of decomposed $H_2O_2$ at the catalyst reactor, indicating sufficient catalyst efficiency for propellant decomposition. Auto-ignition of the high density polyethylene(HDPE) fuel grain successfully occurred by the decomposed $H_2O_2$ product without additional installation of any ignition devices. Performance test result was well matched with numerical internal ballistics conducted prior to the experimental propulsion system ground test. A sounding rocket using the developed hybrid rocket was designed, fabricated, flight simulated and launch tested. Six degree-of-freedom trajectory estimation code was developed and the comparison result between expected and experimental trajectory validated the accuracy of the developed trajectory estimation code. The fabricated sounding rocket was successfully launched showing the effectiveness of the simplified hybrid rocket propulsion system.

바이오알코올 혼합연료에 따른 배출 특성 연구 (Study on Emission Characteristics Depending on Mixing Fuels of Bio-Alcohol)

  • The dependence on global fossil fuels has been gradually reducing all over the world. Some countries which recognized the important of environmental values were joining to carry out international GHG goals. Our country has also participated with high targets (37% reduction compared to BAU 2030 years). So we need to supply materials of lower GHG value such as a bio-diesel. Bio-alcohol is one of the similar bio-fuels that can be reducing GHG. A lot of countries had tried to commercialize through various R&D for bio-alcohol. In this study, we analyzed the fuel characteristics of bio-alcohol fuel produced by domestic technology. And we evaluated a possibility to use as vehicle fuel through mixing of bio-alcohol and gasoline. The mixed fuels were satisfied with 2.3 wt% of oxygen content that is standard of the petroleum and petroleum alternative fuel business Act. We tried to evaluate a emission characteristic of vehicle by mixed fuel. In accordance with the results we tried to find a correlation between fuel and emission.

Fabrication of Large Area Transmission Electro-Absorption Modulator with High Uniformity Backside Etching

  • Surface-normal transmission electro-absorption modulator (EAM) are attractive for high-definition (HD) three-dimensional (3D) imaging application due to its features such as small system volume and simple epitaxial structure [1,2]. However, EAM in order to be used for HD 3D imaging system requires uniform modulation performance over large area. To achieve highly uniform modulation performance of EAM at the operating wavelength of 850 nm, it is extremely important to remove the GaAs substrate over large area since GaAs material has high absorption coefficient below 870 nm which corresponds to band-edge energy of GaAs (1.424 eV). In this study, we propose and experimentally demonstrate a transmission EAM in which highly selective backside etching methods which include lapping, dry etching and wet etching is carried out to remove the GaAs substrate for achieving highly uniform modulation performance. First, lapping process on GaAs substrate was carried out for different lapping speeds (5 rpm, 7 rpm, 10 rpm) and the thickness was measured over different areas of surface. For a lapping speed of 5 rpm, a highly uniform surface over a large area ($2{\times}1\;mm^2$) was obtained. Second, optimization of inductive coupled plasma-reactive ion etching (ICP-RIE) was carried out to achieve anisotropy and high etch rate. The dry etching carried out using a gas mixture of SiCl4 and Ar, each having a flow rate of 10 sccm and 40 sccm, respectively with an RF power of 50 W, ICP power of 400 W and chamber pressure of 2 mTorr was the optimum etching condition. Last, the rest of GaAs substrate was successfully removed by highly selective backside wet etching with pH adjusted solution of citric acid and hydrogen peroxide. Citric acid/hydrogen peroxide etching solution having a volume ratio of 5:1 was the best etching condition which provides not only high selectivity of 235:1 between GaAs and AlAs but also good etching profile [3]. The fabricated transmission EAM array have an amplitude modulation of more than 50% at the bias voltage of -9 V and maintains high uniformity of >90% over large area ($2{\times}1\;mm^2$). These results show that the fabricated transmission EAM with substrate removed is an excellent candidate to be used as an optical shutter for HD 3D imaging application.

석탄액화시 첨가제에 의한 수율 향상 효과 (Effects of Additives on Yield of Coal Liquefaction)

  • 소형의 고온 고압 반응장치에서의 석탄액화시 흑액, 리그닌, NaOH, 물, 나무 등을 첨가제로 사용하여 375$^{\circ}C$ 근처에서의 액체생성물의 수율과 비점분포를 분석하였다. 흑액을 석탄액화 과정 중에 첨가하게 되면 석탄액화율이 38.6% 정도 증가하나, 액화율 상승효과의 대부분은 NaOH 때문인 것으로 판단되며, 흑액 중에 포함된 황화합물은 액화과정에서 수소와 결합함으로서 휘발성의 자극성 악취를 발생시키기 때문에 불리한 요인이 될 수 있다. 액화공정에 물이 존재하면 액화 수율에는 변화가 없었으나 액화생성물 중에는 저비점 성분이 증가되며, 가스 중에는 CO가 줄고, $CO_2$성분이 증가되었다. 나무를 석탄액화시 첨가하면 생성물 중 가스의 비율이 증가하고 액체생성물도 다소 증가하게 되는데, 석탄전환율로 보면 나무의 첨가효과는 거의 무시할 수 있는 값이며, 액체 생성물 수율만으로 보면 375$^{\circ}C$에서는 3%, 40$0^{\circ}C$에서는 약 8%정토의 액체생성물의 수율 증가를 보여주었으며, 4$25^{\circ}C$에서는 가스생성물의 증가로 액체생성물의 오히려 감소하였다.

  • GHG 및 대기오염물질 배출 규제는 고효율 및 친환경에 적합한 새로운 선박용 동력장치의 필요성을 제기하고 있다. 최근 이와 같은 문제들을 근본적으로 해결하기 위한 지속가능한 방법으로서 연료전지를 선박의 동력발생장치로 도입하고자 하는 검토가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문은 액체연료인 메탄올을 기반으로 한 고체산화물형 연료전지/가스터빈 하이브리드시스템의 성능을 평가한 것으로 스택의 작동온도, 전류밀도, 가스터빈 압력비, 공기예열기 온도효율, TIT(turbine inlet temperature)의 영향을 시뮬레이션으로 검토하고 그 결과를 기체연료인 메탄의 경우와 비교하고 있다.

열천칭과 유동층반응기에서 석탄과 Petroleum Coke의 수증기 가스화반응 (Steam Gasification of Coal and Petroleum Coke in a Thermobalance and a Fluidized Bed Reactor)

  • 석탄 및 pet coke (petroleum coke)는 그 이용이 제한적이지만 공급이 풍부한 에너지원이므로, 가스화공정에 적용하여 고급연료인 수소나 액체연료를 생산할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 열천칭반응기와 실험실규모의 유동층반응기(내경 0.02 m, 높이 0.6 m)에서 갈탄, 무연탄, pet coke의 수증기 가스화 반응특성을 조사하였다. 가스화 온도 $600{\sim}900^{\circ}C$, 수증기 분압 0.15~0.95 atm 및 수증기/연료 비의 조업변수가 가스화반응속도 및 생성가스의 발열량에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 기체-고체 반응모델로서 modified volumetric reaction model을 적용하여 가스화반응의 거동을 묘사하고 kinetic 인자들을 도출하였다. 가스화 반응온도가 높을수록 생성가스 중의 수소농도와 가스의 발열량은 증가하였다. 생성가스 발열량은 무연탄 > 갈탄 > pet coke의 순으로 높게 나타났는데, 반응온도 $900^{\circ}C$, 수증기분압 95%의 조건에서 10.0 > 6.9 > 5.7 $MJ/m^3$로 각각 얻어졌다. 본 연구를 통하여 갈탄과 pet coke에 대해 가스화공정의 잠재적인 연료로서의 가능성을 확인하였다.

Control of Plasma Characteristic to Suppress Production of HSRS in SiH4/H2 Discharge for Growth of a-Si: H Using Global and PIC-MCC Simulation

  • In SiH4/H2 discharge for growth process of hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H), silane polymers, produced by SiH2 + Sin-1H2n ${\rightarrow}$ SinH2n+2, have no reactivity on the film-growing surface. However, under the SiH2 rich condition, high silane reactive species (HSRS) can be produced by electron collision to silane polymers. HSRS, having relatively strong reactivity on the surface, can react with dangling bond and form Si-H2 networks which have a close correlation with photo-induced degradation of a-Si:H thin film solar cell [1]. To find contributions of suggested several external plasma conditions (pressure, frequency and ratio of mixture gas) [2,3] to suppressing productions of HSRS, some plasma characteristics are studied by numerical methods. For this study, a zero-dimensional global model for SiH4/H2 discharge and a one-dimensional particle-in-cell Monte-Carlo-collision model (PIC-MCC) for pure SiH4 discharge have been developed. Densities of important reactive species of SiH4/H2 discharge are observed by means of the global model, dealing 30 species and 136 reactions, and electron energy probability functions (EEPFs) of pure SiH4 discharge are obtained from the PIC-MCC model, containing 5 charged species and 15 reactions. Using global model, SiH2/SiH3 values were calculated when pressure and driving frequency vary from 0.1 Torr to 10 Torr, from 13.56 MHz to 60 MHz respectively and when the portion of hydrogen changes. Due to the limitation of global model, frequency effects can be explained by PIC-MCC model. Through PIC-MCC model for pure SiH4, EEPFs are obtained in the specific range responsible for forming SiH2 and SiH3: from 8.75 eV to 9.47 eV [4]. Through densities of reactive species and EEPFs, polymerization reactions and production of HSRS are discussed.

소합향원(蘇合香元)이 실험적(實驗的) 뇌경색(腦梗塞) 흰쥐의 국소뇌혈류량(局所腦血流量) 및 경색(梗塞) 면적에 미치는 영향(影響) (The Effect of Sohabhyangwon(蘇合香元) on Regional Cerebral Blood Flow and Area of Cerebral Infarction in the Experimentally induced Cerebral Infarction in Rats)

  • The cerebral infarction arised from occulsion of cerebral artery has a high mortality rate and fatal sequelae. Sohabhyangwon(蘇合香元) is generally regarded to have a effect of walking up the patient from unconsiousness and promoting the flow of Qj(氣) by warming channel. METHOD The purpose of this study is to find out the effections of Sohabhyangwon(蘇合香元) on regional cerebral blood flow and relative cerebral infarction area in the experimentally induced infartion in rats In this experiment, 12 Spraque-Dawley rats weighting 280-350g were used. Cerebral ischemia induced by intraluminal suture technique of Kozumi's and Zea-Longer's method. $Co_{2},\;O_2$, pH, arterial blood pressure in rats were checked by Blood Gas Analyzer every 30 minutes for 2 hours. And regional cerebral blood flow were checking by hydrogen clearance technique, cerebral infarcted area was megsured by Image Analysis System. RESULTS 1. During the experiment, $CO_{2},\;O_2$, pH, arterial blood pressure in rats had no change in both sample group and control group. 2. Cortical cerebral blood flow decreased at same rate in both sample group and control group after inducing cerebral infarction. 3. On comparison of relative cerebral infarcted area, Sohabhyangwon(蘇合香元) perfused group showed a significant decrease. CONCLUSION According to the result above, Sohabhyangwon has a protection effect on cranial nerve and-has no effect on cerebral blood flow.
