As a result of the recent advances in magnetic materials, the Magnetic Amplifier(Magamp) technique is one of the reliable and cost-effective postregulation method for multiple-output power supply. This is true for high-current postregulated output since at highter output current the efficiency of linear postregulation is unacceptably low, while the complexity of more efficient switch mode postregulator is associated with a significant cost. Magamp have some advantages of higher power density, simple control circuit, good regulation, high frequency and high performance. In this paper, Operation principle of proposed approach and a performance of magamp control circuit with TL431 is described. The comparative analysis of magamp circuit and buck regulator circuit with 20W load condition is conducted. Experimental verifications on multi-output flyback converter are conducted. Simulations and experimental results show that the proposed approach is efficiency and voltage regulation of the auxiliary output is excellent.
DC/DC 컨버터는 MOSFET(산화물-반도체 전계 효과 트랜지스터), PWM-IC(펄스폭 변조 집적회로) 제어기, 인덕터, 콘덴서 등으로 구성되어있다.
A low frequency square wave electronic ballast for the high intensity discharge(HID) lamps using fuzzy logic controller is developed. This electronic ballast consists a buck converter, a low frequency square wave full bridge inverter, a high voltage pulse generator for the HID lamp ignition, an over current protection circuit and an 8-bit microcontroller. The ballast system is operated on the constant current mode during the HID lamp start-up process and the system is operated on the constant power mode during steady state. Experimental results show that the fuzzy logic control operation is carried out successfully by the 8-bit microcontroller PIC16F877 In this electronic ballast system, in spite of the limited control bandwidth caused by low operating speed of the microcontroller, the good performance in the constant lamp current characteristic is obtained. Acoustic resonance of the HID lamps can be effectively avoided because the instantaneous In lamp power is fully constant due to the low frequency square wave drive.
In this paper, High brightness LED (light-emitting diodes) driver IC (integrated circuit) using new current sensing circuit is proposed. This LED driver IC can provide a constant current with high current precision over a wide input voltage range. The proposed current-sensing circuit is composed of a cascode current sensor and a current comparator with only one reference voltage. This IC minimizes the voltage stress of the MOSFET (metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor) from the maximum input voltage and has low power consumption and chip area by using simple-structured comparator and minimum bias current. To confirm the functioning and characteristics of our proposed LED driver IC, we designed a buck converter. The LED current ripple of the designed IC is in ${\pm}5%$ and a tolerance of the average LED current is lower than 2.43%. This shows much improved feature than the previous method. Also, protections for input voltage and operating temperature are designed to improve the reliability of the designed IC. Designed LED driver IC uses 1.0 ${\mu}m$ X-Fab. BiCMOS process parameters and electrical characteristics and functioning are verified by spectre (Cadence) simulation.
A novel digital current control strategy for digitally controlled DC-DC switching converters, referred to as Adjacent Cycle Sampling (ACS), is proposed in this paper. For the ACS current control strategy, the available time interval from sampling the current to updating the duty ratio, is approximately one switching cycle. In addition, it is independent of the duty ratio. As a result, the contradiction between the processing speed of the hardware and the transient response speed can be effectively relaxed by using the ACS current control strategy. For digitally controlled buck DC-DC switching converters with trailing-edge modulation, digital current control algorithms with the ACS control strategy are derived for three different control objectives. These objectives are the valley, average, and peak inductor currents. In addition, the sub-harmonic oscillations of the above current control algorithms are analyzed and eliminated by using the digital slope compensation (DSC) method. Experimental results based on a FPGA are given, which verify the theoretical analysis results very well. It can be concluded that the ACS control has a faster transient response speed than the time delay control, and that its requirements for hardware processing speed can be reduced when compared with the deadbeat control. Therefore, it promises to be one of the key technologies for high-frequency DC-DC switching converters.
